      I made another steak last night and did not compare to this one. That Tomahawk was fantastic. The storm rolled in last night and all my tools are wet and some under water lol....Let the rust begin.
      I am thinking of building more of these with a little modifications and doing some Raffles and maybe some donations when people need to raise money. I put about $90 in parts plus my time. Glad you liked it.

      I agree. The grill came out good but the steak was even better. I have to clean my back yard so the scrap is turning into things now. I have a small section of 20" x 10" pipe and might make a fire pit / grill next.

      Thanks. I have a 50" x 24" pipe I need to turn into a smoker. I may put it on a boat trailer and raffle it locally. I also started to build some small pits but at 3/8" steel they are heavy. Its all about practicing and researching.

    I like the design and the way to mount it on the hitch connector. Very cool.
    I clamped a spike onto the handle of my plasmer cutter for cutting circles, with an extended base it could cut big circles. Just need to drill a small hole at the center. (Todays handy hint) cheers.

    I'm hungry for a steak now! Having one like that is real handy on job sites. Years ago, when I worked the pipeline I had one a little smaller than that I mounted to my bumper and it was easily removable like that. They usually furnished a helper and by the end of the job he'd be real good on the grill. We didn't grill every day but a lot of the time on Saturdays, when the company men weren't around we'd grill up some steaks or burgers for lunch.That was about thirty years ago now, come to think of it. But that's a good size for a portable grill. Nice job!

    • @cutweldngrind
      @cutweldngrind  4 года назад

      Thanks. What size pipe was used on your grill? I had some 6" pipe and a pipe line welder told me to try and build a clover design using 4 sections of pipe. I am running out of scrap now so might do 1 or 2 more grills just for fun. Thanks again for the support.

    • @texasplumr

      @@cutweldngrind I had two different ones at different times. The first one was way too big to pack and move easily. It was 14" X 24" and the older hands told me the whole time it was too big and guess what? They were right. The next one was 8" X 18" and I thought it was perfect. One of the guys had a template to cope the ends and the end caps were coped as well so the ends of the pit were round and it looked great! It was a lot more work than the first one that was just slapped together and I was very happy with it. I could fit four rib eyes or a half dozen big burgers on it. It's amazing that I still see the same design on pipeliner rigs today! Receiver hitches weren't a thing on welded steel beds back then we usually had a hitch that was easily as strong built into our steel pipe bumpers. And most people I knew already had something on their bumper to mount some other type of equipment and we usually just used that.

      @@texasplumr Awesome. My flat bed I built has 2 receiver tubes vertical on it and was thinking on making a bracket for it but not sure if the heat will damage the bed liner. My neighbor was building a grill to mount on the hitch but was a scaled down version of a SA200. He is working up north but I may upload a video on it.

    Hey boss, how’d you clean the inside before using it? Also before painting did you take off any oxidation?

    • @cutweldngrind
      @cutweldngrind  2 года назад

      I usually just remove the thick rust on the inside with a wire wheel or flap disc. I do put some oil after wiping down with a moist rag to remove the dust left over. I never paint the inside of the grills as that can cause contamination of the food.
      Thanks for watching.

      I need to start using the grill again and those steaks always come out good. I live in a small town and usually the steaks are under a 1/2" thick at my local store which I really don't like. I think a 2" thick steak is perfect for me so when I see them I usually buy 2 or 3. Thanks for the comment.

    $13 bucks for a 1.75lb tomahawk ribeye? That’s pretty cheap from what I’ve seen beef prices in other parts of TX.
