Remember that Agustin Barrios was a Paraguayan Indian. Native of tribes of the capital region The story of this piece goes like this: He wrote the 2nd. and the 3rd. movement first. The second movement is his impression of attending a Sunday mass in Asunción, where he was absorb and raptured in Bach's music (they use to play Bach in masses) and then leaving the church and being shocked with the the noise and the agitation of the Capital - hence the third movement. Years latter, in Cuba, He wrote a prelude to make It like a concert.⁸
Hi Moran. You're among my favorite classical guitarists of all time! Thank you for all of your hard work in getting to this point, for sharing your talent with all of us, and for being true to the beauty of this music! It's an absolute pleasure to listen to you! Thank you!
Impressive performance. It's hard to bring something new to bear on such a well-known, extensively-played piece -- and you indeed managed to do it. Congratulations.
This was just playing in the background while studying and at one point I actually shouted out "woooo god dayummn!" and proceeded to open the tab, like the video, and write this comment.
I’m sure your 4.65K subscribers would be amused by the previous comment. Still that is not enough for the enjoyment we obtain from your performances. Bravo!
That is by far the most impressive interpretation of the final movement I have ever heard. I do not remember any other player executing it so cleanly at this tempo. I wish it could be slightly more expressive, especially during the first figure in the low register, but still...
This man played the best guitar version of Bach's Chaconne. On a 10 string guitar. Awesome. Beautiful. Listen to it. This Cathedral is VERY fast. But very clean.
superb rendition, second to none. There is no need to bring anything 'new' to such a complete composition - just bring YOURSELF. Thank you for posting!
I wasn't ready for it, but I loved it. There are many ways to play any given piece, and sometimes a little faster than usual seems off, while a lot faster than usual opens new doors. For example, Pepe Romero's version of the Villa-Lobos Etude no. 1: Pepe plays it so much faster than usual that it acquires a shimmering quality that brings out otherwise hidden elements.
Absolutely Fantastic Playing!! This is a Beautiful Song and very Hard to Cover!!! You make it look so Easy!!! Your going on my play list.... Thank You! :)
@@ZenGuitarStudios Come on! Don't be such a pedant: it sure sounds like a song to me. Many fine composers use the word 'song' in their titles, to describe entirely instrumental pieces. Furthermore, a well played instrument can be said to be 'singing', as much as any human voice and I think that is what the original comment was picking up on.p
I teach classical guitar... and hear that phrase often, and I always correct my students. It's actually funny, I wasn't angry. As I tell my students, that's akin to calling a Bach concerto a song. It's not a song. Have a good day.
Nick Hill it sounds as if you are angry, I get paid to be pedantic. I’m a professor of classical guitar Just trying to educate those why might not know the difference between a song and a symphony, sonata etc... peace man
@@ricardomuniz5075 This also matches the previous part 3:04. This Andante requires taking some serious thought to balance the melodic rhythm with the bass/accompaniment rhythm. It's good for people to realize that there are quite a few "original versions" of this piece.
Felicidades Moran, eres excelso pero tengo una observación ya que has modificado algunas notas de la partitura original. Espero no lo tomes a mal solo es una observación. Viva por siempre Mangoré. Saludos!!!
Mangore himself played it that way and also wrote it down in that manner. also it is like rushing water, it is about what it means and transports as a whole not about what else you have seen been made out of it. its a whirl, not necesarilly to be understood 1-1 in a classical sense as an "Allegro". but it is indeed rather that than anything else. it is a whirling flowing rush of an higher emotional ecstatic almost boundless stream. it is one further than "procession". dont you see that this, the 3 steps, is an outer aswell as inner procession ? going into a cathedral, aproaching, and accessing your inner heart. longing, contemplation, procession, dedication, love joy, ecstasy. someone could do a a visual background which is projected behind the guitarplayer on a stage. so school children would get he gist of the whole thing. essence
Solemne is waaaay too fast in my opinion. Barrios himself played this fast due to restrictions in recording technology, but today he also would have played slower, with more expressionism.

Bach should always be played in church, he were a great Lutheran and lived his life around and in the church.
‘Ruptured’😂
Works just as well
Mangore estaría orgulloso de tan buena ejecución, Bendiciones desde Barquisimeto (Venezuela) dónde Agustín Barrios en vida se presentó .
Wooow....a giant artist and definitely one of the best in the world...excellent technic and excellent nuance as well....thanks for uploading.
Beautiful performance. Whenever I hear this piece I always have to stand in awe of the composing genius of Barrios Mangore.
Excellent ! Particulièrement l'allegro final.
The allegro exhudes the heat, brio and touching relentlessness of a Scarlatti sonata. It is a wonderful interpretation.
Barrios es único!!!
El mejor compositor para guitarra de americano!!!
Besser geht nicht. Danke vielmals.

Frankly speaking, i have not seen a guitarist faster than Mt. Moran Wasser. He is a giant virtuoso guitarist. Thanks for uploading.

Mr. Wasser is a note machine. If you want more expressive, listen to Yamashita's interpretation of this piece.

I was already thinking this was an amazing performance but 5:18 onward blew my mind...amazing!
What skill and articulation. At a breakneck tempo!
Breathtaking as usual, Moran !!!

On a 10 string guitar.
Awesome.
Beautiful.
Listen to it.
This Cathedral is VERY fast.
But very clean.
I fully agree, though it were and still is to this day an elleven string guitar, made by German luthier Dieter Müller.
That guitar has piano qualities, beautiful!

Holy shit! Beautiful piece and astonishing guitar playing. Simply magnificent!
Bravissimo !!!!!
Thanks, Moran, for posting this. I like your videos!

Beautiful sporting achievement in the allegro. Record to beat.
Bravo!! (although the allegro is a little bit fast for me). Excelent interpretation!!!
Wonderful playing, curious to know, what was your decision making process around the tempo of the allegro?
The original Barrios recording is very quick too, not allegro as marked.
Я перед собой увидел СОБОР Вы Ангел!
That was fast!
Wow!
Hay quá !
What guitar do you play on please?
oh man.... was was that tempo in the Allegro Solemne?? my brain is still tryin' to process that....
Good friend, want to learn if this guitar is Spruce top or Cedar ?
It seems like spruce
I 0:00
II 2:07
III 3:56
브라보 ! 죽입니다!
Wondeful musicianship.
Tho' for me the allegro feels rushed. I guess I like to savor those precious notes a bit.
It sounds like piano
