Hey I’m from Cairns and we have bad sand flys and all sorts here, the best thing I’ve found to stop them biting is dishwashing liquid. If tried everything and it’s the only thing that works for me.

You should make sure to bring mosquito repellant with you. You are in a tropical country and mosquitoes are prevalent everywhere. Take extra care because these insects are carriers of dengue and malaria. Have a nice vacation and enjoy your stay in our country.
