Robert was my grandma’s uncle. I never got to meet him since he passed before I was born, but my mom and her brothers were on the maiden voyage in one of the great lakes. She still has her yellow Hjemkomst jacket, too. We went to see the ship a few months ago, and I have to say it was amazing. My mom and grandma always said he was a funny guy. My grandma Marge (who passed away a few years ago) was his daughter, and she was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I’m so proud to be related to Bob, and I really wish I could have met him.
I have always had the dream of building hand plane wooden boats! The Viking long boats are the most beautifully crafted boats of all time, what an exceptional man with an incredible spirit! You are an inspiration of what can be done with hard work!No doubt, you are at home now with your great ancestors and still sailing incredible ships!Sail on to greater shores!!
"Die with memories, not dreams" Man, this is powerful to see a school teacher, a humble man's dream become a reality. Don't worry about him passing from this world before the voyage; he sailed with his ship, with the crew, in spirit 🇧🇻🇺🇲 I want to sail as my Ancestors did in a long ship 🇧🇻🖤💚🖤🇺🇲
To whom it may concern- We would love to use this video about Postcards: The Hjemkomst of Robert Asp at our Norwegian Heritage Center in Stoughton, WI. We have an auditorium that visitors can watch selected videos on demand. Is it possible for us to get a copy of this to use for public viewing in our Auditorium? Here is the website to our heritage center: www.livsreise.org Thank you,Sara Johnson
I think you would email or call the Hjemkomst center in Moorhead, MN I think. I am sure they would let you use it. I dont think there is really any copyright issues.
