Just a suggestion, set up an Amazon shop to house all the items you guys recommend. You'll get a few bucks and we can find your preferred gear in one place!
BCM or DD for home defense rifles, Glock for EDC pistols, Aimpoint for red dots, Benchmade for knives, Surefire for lights.
A tourniquet is a good idea but you can get the rubber ones for next to nothing or go to a fire station and they'll give you one. A little bit of practice a rubber tourniquet will do the job you don't need to spend $40. I retired from a major city as a firefighter and in all my 26 years I had only used them to start IVs and they were the rubber ones. I think if I had a limited budget the money would be better spent on bandages, burn ointment, medical tape, trauma scissors, CPR pocket mask and gloves. Just my two cents from someone that dealt with trauma almost on a daily basis. Love your channel.
I was a 91B in rvn and that is all I carried and used . That and some ace bandages when I had to move to the next were my go to !! Hemostats !! Even with the mixed reviews I wish we'd had quikClot !! Got out of it after, don't think I could have done it for 26 yrs . Thanks on behalf of your community for your service !! .gubs
Glock, Merrell, Victorinox, and Casio are brands I've used for years and will likely continue to use until one of them fail me. I like trying new products and existing products that I've yet to tinker with but I'm a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" sort of guy. Especially when they are inexpensive. Buck and Lumintop are two brands that I regularly use. While they many be considered budget or even flat out garbage by many. Neither has let me down and I carry both daily.
The brands I'd trust my life with are Salomon for footwear, Kifaru for packs, Glock, Atc'Teryx for clothes, Sawyer for water, Eotech/Aimpoint either for optics, DD/BCM either for rifles, and the list could go on. I'm definitely a part of the buy once cry once crowd. While I don't like spending the money, I want reliability when it comes time that I use what I have. It's why I drive a Tacoma, it's why I EDC a Glock, etc,. If my gear is going to fail, it won't be when the time has come to rely on it, that's another reason why testing it beforehand is so important.
Glock, Leatherman, S.O.G., 5.11 Tactical, Surefire
Absolutely great pics
I've been seeing some horror stories on amazon about diehard Leatherman customers inspecting their new orders. Didn't stop me from making my first purchase the other day though, lets see where the dice fall.
Tops knives, Sig, Magnum boots, ZT folding blades, Maxpedition, Fjallraven, Gransfors Bruks.
Glock 19, Vortex, ZT 0770CF, Danner, O-Light on weapon Surefire in Car and pocket.
Well i get through 2 pairs of the salomon gtx boots per year (mountain guide) for me the most comfortable boots I’ve found but...... shtf i have one pair of boots I’m taking my meindls not as comfortable for me but far superior quality will last literally years of hard use and 100% waterproof unlike the salomons which are just not! I have ‘dead bird’ jacket and trousers great when climbing but again for shtf i’d want something harder wearing so paramo or harkila if i wanted light weight keep the rain off then poncho!
I found a treasure 10+ years ago. Lil no name folding picket knife. $2. I use it for feather sticks and splitting wood. Has taken a beating. Treat your gear well and most things can last.
You're so right about commercial buildings and flashlights. Ever been in a public bathroom when someone turns out the light or you're in the stall for so long the motion sensor light turns off? I don't leave the house without my single AAA light because if it's an emergency, my phone battery is better suited to potentially calling for help than shining a crappy light.
1982 we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon landed just ahead of the hurricane all power lost no lights, AC, water it sucked, but at least I had a knife. Plus I knew how to make a Vaseline candle Current EDC is a CRKT M16-14, and a kirshaw a/o speed work knife, sure fire flashlight, Bic lighter, sometimes a zippo, Van quest wallet, Ford F-150 4x4 w EDC bag, tool kit and first aid kit, 4 Gallo’s of water, Smith’s pocket sharper, micro lock pick set, iPhone.
Merrell shoes & Swiss Army knife.
I carry a Canik TP9SF Elite with an Olight PL2 everyday. Great combo that has been absolutely reliable.
I live in Michigan. When hunting or ice fishing my feet always got cold and fast. Then I bought a pair of Sorel winter boots and feet were never cold again!
Mountainsmith lumbar packs that look civilian
LT Wright for hard use fixed knives
2GoSystems for cutting edge bivys, tarps and ponchos
S&W for pocket 5 shot revolvers
Eneloop (Japan) for rechargable batteries, avoid Chinese Eneloops
@Jas Holden
Absolutely love 2GoSystem. Got put on to them by another you tuber a few years back and try to spread the word about them as much as possible.
Also Garmont boots depending on how weird your feet are. Bark River Knives, Wazoo Survival products, VertX phantom ops pants, Trail Butter nut butter, Knipex plierswrench, Silky saws, Kifaru woobies.
I live in the swamps of southern Louisiana so Muck boots and Doc Martens, ESSE6, Vortex, Gerber multi tool with carbide cutters, M&P Shield .45, EDC pocket knife Coast DX341, Coast PX1 flashlight, Bic lighter and fuel tabs. Thanks guys good ideas
mate I live in Australia and have to ask WTF do you need a tourniquet for EDC? Do you live in a war zone? I have gone almost 50 years of life and never had to use more than a band aid for emergency first aid. For SHTF situations, yeah fair enough but for EDC I just can't see why. I used to EDC a heap of stuff around but honestly it got to the point that I NEVER used the stuff I carried, so I was pointlessly carrying around shit I never used. IMHO keep all that stuff in your car or at home and just carry the essentials.
better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
@@awesomenumber65 that platitude can be used to justify the carrying anything. Like I said in the OP keep a tourniquet in a firstaid kit in your car but to carry one EDC is IMHO a bit of a wank.
I agree. Even as a gun owning American I find it a bit ridiculous that so many people claim to have one included in their every day kit. A car medical kit or bug out bag makes more sense, of course but to carry one around on your person seems excessive and like you're always anticipating a gunfight.
I find it funny that these preppers always talk about their fucking "kit", with a bunch of stupid shit like Tourniquets, while 99% of them are overweight and have ZERO mobility (inflexible). When SHTF these guys won't even be able to handle the body stresses without serious injury due to years of only shooting their dicks at the gun range and drinking beer.
If you're going to punch holes in people you gotta know and be ready to treat them
late to this, PD 34 years, SWAT 20+ till to old and fat....Aimpoint, Surefire, Safariland, Danner, and Glockenjoyed the video
I run a glock 17 with an olight valkrie, surefire flashlight, and one of a few
Arcteryx, Asolo, olight, glock, benchmade
Great vid. Very informative. Trijicon , olight and yes I will be purchasing RevMedx tourniquets for my kits.
swiss army knife + photon light (probably all the knife, light and tools you need, for me better than a letherman which i carried for a while).
HAIX mountain boots.
Superfeet Green Original Insoles.
peacock pocket warmer (they do wonder when it`s f.... cold).
Casio G Shock (the cheap one 5600 or something).
Sawyer mini
Berghaus backpack.
Cold steel spike (can easily be carried concealed and reacheble when fixed with velcro, good places are on a shirt on your back under your neck or on your boxershorts on the side of your leg if you wear runningshorts and the like. Also viable for women in boots, under skirts, in bags, if they were legal here i`d go with a cold steel best pal, but it is what it is).
Sabre Red.
Venum Challenger (mouth piece) (helps you, protects you and can even work deescalating if you put it in when you can feel that the mood changes. Then when the aggressor(s) come(s) you just smile. You can literally see the clock ticking in their head on their face).
Okay.....
Frame lock, not liner lock. Lol Great Video and I also love ZT knives.
bernchmade for folding knife
leatherman for multitool
springfield armory 1911 for firearm
fenix for light
merrell boots for footwear
No merrell boats have three pairs and two fell apart to fast better luck with American made danner
Czp09 07 pistols Olight Corcoran boots every day [I get three years of comfort doing metal fabrication and a lot of walking ] Solomon tundra pro in winter BCM rifels vortex optics bigfoot gun belts squared away customs holster. All gear that has proven itself in real life from daily life and training. I'm cheep when it comes to knives I carry a böker or recon 1
Yes chris i didnt like my 2nd gen glock 19 at first neither. When i shot a substantial ammount of ammo i started to like that safe action trigger. My old glock 19 has shot over 6000 rounds and still going strong& i really like the safe action trigger now
I'm pretty sure Arcteryx and Salomon are both under the same brand umbrella Amer Sports. Which unfortunately have been talking about selling out to a chinese company. I love both of those sub brands currently. Hopefully the quality doesn't go down if they do sell out.
Randy Goff personally i think it has been going downhill for a few years i get through 2 pairs of salomons a year where 10 years ago 1 pair would last over a year and they are not now 100% waterproof! But they are bloody comfortable so i keep buying them. Unfortunately mountaineering gear became fashionable so 90% of users don’t push gear to the limit so think it’s great. Meindl, Macpac , paramo , harkila good brands not high fashion.
Anyone who wouldn't trust glock with their life may no know what they're talking about. But another brand that I trust with my life is Corcoran. I bought my pair of Corcoran Marauders just after boot camp when I was in the military, wore them every day for my six year tour. They're now 8 years old and have had countless miles through them, still in great condition (for their age). They're now my hunting/general purpose boots and still have many years and miles left in them.
Thank you
I just recently found your channel doing some research on outdoor gear for a section hike, so I'm not sure what you've both done for a living. But based on this video and the gear featured alone, you 100% look like cops.
Useful video, thanks
TY good intel ! We look 4 XGI gear EZ 2 find since near USA&USMC instalations
Good stuff guys zt makes a nice knife been using one for a year now. good knife. Trijicon is my go to but have to save up for the quality. God Bless
ALL due respect for your service and thanks for ALL great vids and real life information.
Could you PLEASE link OR, at least list the items you mention. Life is hard enough without guessing how to spell ark tear us or whatever.THANKS AGAIN!
Glock, streamlight, buck, ford.
Night sights on the Glock.
Great reasoning guys! 👍👍🇺🇸
Which jacket is that? Don’t mind spending money for quality but dayum some of those are crazy expensive.
Redwing, Kershaw, stream light, titmus glasses, that dead bird brand if backpack
Michael Nonya I use a ILBE for the most part, but am thinking about swapping over to one of my other packs. I've beat up the one I have and it's still going. I do like kelty and osprey, both are excellent but sometimes they can't handle the places I go.
I loathe gear that fails! That is why typically I go for the military stuff, it's heavy but is made to last.
Mystery ranch is another great one to try out if you can afford it.
My top brand, Glendronach
That tourniquet isn't too big for Alan kay's pocket!
when the title is about brands, the tourniquet is representing a brand but the guy seems to be about a product rather than a brand. Does the tourniquet brand have other products that are also good?
You guys need to note the style or model of the items discussed and a link to them
Where do I find the tourniquets? I can't find them with a google search.
RevMedx
can be found on amazon
Is Ruff's saddle shop still in Umatilla ?
Morgan would be so mad that you are using a Glock and not an XD. Hahhaha. I prefer Glocks too. Good stuff!
Newcon optik pvs7-2+ and sig echo1...
Mora.
No socks? Assuming my boots are at least fitted reasonably, I'll take my preference in brand of sock well before boots and well before a lot of other specifics, especially stuff that isn't even first-line gear.
you don't need a tourniquet. you may like the brand or the product, but you don't need to carry one.
Jacob Mudd In s car , yes.. in my Range bag, yes. If I come up on s bad car accident I want to be able to effectively help someone, also you never know what can happen at the range with people shooting ... could def come in to play. Do I carry one in my pocket, no.
Mercedes or Land Rover?
This must be two guys with six figure incomes.
Tap the zt spine on a roll of tape sucks i got a 0393
What tq is that?
RevMedx
Most Tactically bent RUclips Channel today (especially those whose hosts have some military background have been putting and making a real deal of Tourniquets as a part of EDC, Are we non-tactical Americans not really aware of our internal dangers? (I fully understand the massacre's that have occured, not trying to sound stupid here) My Last renewal of my First Aid Course (3 months ago, did not include anything about dealing with Gunshot wounds from a touniquet perspective, we did cover chest patches and blood clotting agents, but...... what's the deal? Is this a lesson from the military and Iraq/Afghanistan era Awareness?
If it's proven to work for me I use it
The reason the CAT TQ is used is due to extensive testing, repeatable results and ease of use by everyone. As far as I’m concerned, I have no real like or love for a particular brand of TQ, just use whats known proven, repeatable and easy to use. You might not be the one putting your TQ on you.
Bates boots
People trust their lives to McDonalds, so not saying much.
I bet you don’t carry that CAT every day. Come on, don’t sell out. Your videos are really good but we all know what you’re doing here.
