Confused by game one. Adam had the force (and I believe he had the force of negation too, I may be wrong) why not counter the murktide. Reid had daze in hand sure. But with beanstalk on board it’s worth the try. Then after. Why not swords the murktide instead of the drc with force back up (assuming we didn’t go with the counter murktide plan).. seems odd to me. I can’t seem to understand.
Hand was Ponder, Fow, Fon, Stp, and lands. I didn't want to trade daze equity + 2 cards for a single draw. IMHO DRC is the best creature in the deck, and with something like 8 removal spells in the deck I was "playing to win" in the sense that I'd hope to find another before running out of life points. Instead I drew more lands :(
@@anajman9 Drc might be the best creature value-wise, but in a spot were it is a 1/1 and you have just one plow and one cantrip to look for more, plowing the 8/8 would have guaranteed 4 /5 additional draws rather than a 2 turn clock
@@alessandroperisiutti2478 If the Murktide was an 8/8 I would be inclined to agree, but it was a 5/5 to my 6/6. I figured I had him outclassed there and needed to play "protect the queen." I certainly wasn't expecting dreadbore/Molten Collapse! Furthermore I think most midrange/control decks would have folded to the number of threats my opponent drew in that position. I don't know if I made the best play, but that was my thought process at the time.
@@anajman9 Yeah I recognize the creature outclassing angle but this spot I think it should have been intuitive that murk was just too fast a clock. Even disregarding the real possibility of reid being able to deal with murk with a borrower or collapse or his own force, taking 8 going to 7 means 2 bolts/delver hits kill you if you fetch or force. It also means you cant attack, so youre not really playing to win. Killing his murk means you now "outclass" his delver+drc because can race.
Without rewatching, I will say: If i learned anything from running this channel, it's that sitting in the chair making the decisions is a lot harder than spectating. But super helpful that people point out other potential plays in the comments! GGs! -Chris
Why would you ever plow a drc 1/1 over an 8/8 murktide that puts you on a 2 turn clock?
Seems incorrect in this situation. -Chris
Love reid has been playing with the UNL and FBB Volcanic Islands ever since i’ve been watching Legacy
Hall of Fame level collection
Everyone’s confused with the G1 plays. It happens.
Happens!
