Even in real life, Eula has received backlash from some Genshin Impact fans because of her Lawrence backstory. This happened a few days prior to her debut, back in Version 1.5. When Hoyoverse released her "character teaser" video though, it didn't take long for Eula to change everyone's opinion on her. The community was captivated by her elegant sneeze and this also sparked the beginning of a wide variety of memes. Eula has even been mistreated by hoyoverse. It took 568 days for her second rerun banner to take place, after the end of her previous one. Not to mention that her second rerun banner was released right before Fontaine. I am not an Eula main but I really like her personality and her gameplay style. SekaiSamurai you have done a great job analyzing her backstory. Keep up the good work and take it easy.
Poor Eula has lived not only in the shadow of her family, but also the community aswell... Its absolutely criminal at how she has been dodged in banners and how under the radar she has been. Im just so glad that atleast she played a big role in the recent event and we got to see her teach Collei to relax alittle better :) Also THANK YOU SO MUCH! Im honestly very happy with how this turned out. And im just so excited to see everyone enjoying it!
It's such a shame they didn't go into Eula's background more in the event. In particular the Lawrence clan has a very honorable history apart from that little blip a thousand years ago. With the demise of the Imunlaukr clan they seem to be the oldest clan with traditions dating back to before the fall of Decarabian. Eula's dance and her crest date from this era about 3000 years ago before the Gunnhildr clan joined them in worship of the God of Time. At that time the signature weapon of the clan was the bow and they were hunters in the frozen wastes of Mondstadt. The dance Eula learned (despite the clan itself now putting it one a low priority) dates to those early days and the forms of worship at the 1000 winds temple. People shouldn't throw away 3000 years of history over a blip a mere 10 centuries ago. Eula has a link to the past of Mondstadt that no other character has. Since she knows full well the history of the crest and the dance how can she distance herself entirely from the clan name? Also the gladiatorial thing wasn't much of a stretch from how the old worship of the God of Time went. Remember that the Imunlaukr clan believed that bloody combat was the best way to honor the gods. Which might be why they're all dead now of course.
Perfectly written, man! The Lawrence clan were indeed known at one time as heroes of legend. And were legendary warriors and conquerors who took great pride in both their skills in combat, but also in how they protected their people... In fact they were some of the first to immediately recognize Barbados as a God to worship... and it's such a shame that they had such a dark period in the later part of their rule. For the gladiators part, I had to cut some of my original script down in the essence of time, but indeed at one point, these arenas were once used as a battle ring to bring honor to their god. However it would later be twisted by the Lawrence clan into being used as a bloodsport and as entertainment instead of its original religious purposes. I plan to come back at some point and do a much bigger dive into the legacy and slow corruption of the house of Lawrence at some point. There's just so much to cover!
@@sekaisamurai You can compare Eula with Kaeya on "folks with a family background where most people think their families were depraved and horrible but a few know the truth is more complicated and the history contains heroes as well as villains."
Eula has even been part of many very SUCCESSFUL missions. And has saved lives and the city multiple times... Yet some people still hold onto old grudges over something she had no control over... Good news is, is that SLOWLY things are getting easier for her :)
Thanks man, I'm glad you liked it!! Yeah it's definitely been a struggle for poor Eula... but after saving a young girls life (and some help from Amber's charm...) Things are slowly getting better for her! However new recruits still often judge her IMMEDIATELY. Which often leads to them being blown away when they see what she's capable of haha
@@sekaisamurai compared to someone like arlecchino is completely the opposite she’s ruthless and what we saw from her personality during the Fontaine quest she’s the opposite of Eula which can most likely be her sister and my guess she used to be part of the of the Lawrence before join the Fatui and being highest ranking members of the harbingers

Pretty hypocrital how Mondstadt, the city of freedom, still treats Eula as if the trash of the world and refuaes to aknowledge her as her own person.
