When your square fell, I felt that..:(
Wears safety harness for first time in forever. Drops speed square from 20+ feet high. Love it. This is real construction. Not scripted like others. Keep the hard work coming Bro. Love your channel!!
you are correct, this is how it really goes
Watching him have fun with the stapler makes me 1) not miss being a framer and 2) not miss using hitatchi in the winter. Of course dewalt nailer is just as bad. Bloody winter time! We always used 2 3/8" nails on the roof and the floor, That way we didn't have to have a separate gun just to do sheeting only different length nails.
I just can’t get on board with the staples.
Maybe I’m just stubborn old school
Staples seem really cheap
@@itaintrocketscience try pulling off a sheet that's stapled 6 on center down 16-oc studs next time you're on a job. You'll rip the sheet to shreds before you get them to let go. Staples ain't cheap other than they cost less than nails. One thing I don't agree with is pallet nailing subfloors.... Dog Shit Builders LLC floor squeak guarantee is what I say... use screws.
@@charliechristian1097 But that’s exactly the problem. You get a leaky roof from junky shinglers, replacing a sheet of osb with staples is a nightmare when you’re tearing off. If it’s nails you just take a few minutes with a cats paw. When is the last time you saw the plywood fly off in a windstorm? Lol
Living up to your name today!
Thanks for keeping your videos going!
OMG nice and tight cut crazy framer I like your method of building, that you started the section of the roof with more work and end up with the ease portion.
A lots of courage is needed to sheet a 12/12 Roof pitch. Great job 👍keep safe
That's not 12/12 looks to be 8 /12
Is that a joke? On my crew you get mocked too no end if your scared of any pitch roof. And we dont have any harnesses
Lots of stupity too, this belongs in the suicide section
@@The_Pennsylvanian PURO Gallo jugado 209
@@The_Pennsylvanian it won't be funny when you fall off and end up paralyzed and won't be able to work.
I couldn’t tell you how many times the hose or rope pulled out my square on a roof...
I got a good chuckle out of that one, it's always the pencil or square!
All the damn time haha
Or how about the nail puller? Haha
I made a strap that holds my square from falling out
3:13 is prime reason to make invest in a quality belt and also start taking unnecessary stuff out of your belt. I nailed atleast 2k sheets this year so far and my square was chilling in the trailer for everyone
People don't realize carrying sheets placing them nailing them when your literally inches away from possible death they don't really know what goes into building their homes this guy is nuts a 12/12 pitch roof is super steep you haft to be strong and very good on your feet not a single inch of Room for error
nope, nobody gives the craftsman any credit.
I do roofing in the northern part of Michigan and 12/12's are super common and frankly are not that bad to sheat,
And yet shinglers think they are the badasses. Ive always told them, they got the cale work, sheeting it is the real hard work
Sheathing is so much worse than shingiling
I've been framing for 18 years now in Edmonton ab. Guys get too comfortable then get hurt. Ive seen guys do dumb shit. Set a 2 ply lvl beam into place put 2 toe nails on one side then walk across it to nail the other side...... yea it didnt go as planned. Buddy fell when the beam let go. Nice hole in the first floor too.
Mountain goat framer. Need some grass with your beer tonight.
Awesome! I remember my Canadian history when the lumberjacks would gracefully walk across floating logs to help position them. Apparently the dancing prowess of those guys was equivalent to their logging skills and many folk songs were written about them in that regard. Someone needs to write a similar song about the crazy framer.
I have grass with my beer every night😉
@@xXBuckOFiveXx fuckin' eh!
Best worker I’ve ever seen!! Love your videos 🙋♀️🥰
Bon travail. C’est toujours un plaisir de te regarder travailler je découvre dans ton pays comment vous travaillez.
Stapler’s working mint 👌🏻🔨🍻
They outlawed use of staple guns on decking and shingles here in the Southeast USA decades ago. Were only allowed to use full head ring shank nails on decking. Hurricane zone requirements!
Yeah, fix that thing....please
He's too cheap to buy some oil for it
Jesus, I would've thrown it off the roof on the first sheet
Thomas Brown : LOL at 4:43 I was waiting for him to toss that fucking thing off the roof!
I do this every day I come home and watch these. What's wrong with me
Jacob Reyes same same. It’s just satisfying work and kinda nice to be able to look at it while not having to deal with the physical aspect.
@@cole141000 same
Yeah lol same here been watching these videos all weekend
Idk what’s wrong wit us 😂
We all do
Glad to see you with a crew👍
Read about a guy delivering sheetrock to a high-rise and as soon as he stepped out of the truck somebody's tape fell from about 20 stories and killed him. Didn't even have time to put his hardhat on.
I can t believe he is.up there with out any stickers to walk along, I like the idea of using your harness to help you along
Where I live, there are a lot of people have a hobby watching construction sites and call work safety on them in case of: workers without harnesses on a roof, open edges without safety guards, exposed rebar, or working during quiet hours
12/12 pitch.....dang, you'd give a mountain goat a run for his money....
Ah the joys of a 12/12. Very nice work. Keep up the superb work and content.
I am impressed. Good Job, wish I had your agility, and flexability. Keep up the good work, enjoy watching what I could do when I was young. I need your ankles. Good Luck, this really helps young guys getting into framing.
Great work. I shingled a 12x12 roof pitch its scary. Its a good work out forsure. Pays really 👍. Great work
Love sheeting with a stapler not having to reload a stick nailer every sheet is nice
If I was there I would of gotten your speed square for you !! ❤️ I love your videos !! Thank you 🙋♀️💕
How well does your air nailer work in the cold? When I was a tech at Goodyear we had a couple of impacts we used outside to remove tires for repair. In the winter if one was forgotten outside along with the hose, the whole thing would ice up and stop working. We had to leave the tools and hoses inside and take them out just long enough to pull a tire or check air.
Two beers today - tomorrow is a breeze.. 20-30 knots...🤣🤣
Got to love the good old hitachi staple gun
The Crazy Framer has gone MIA again
another fine video! take care and thank you.
When that square fell, everybody in the trades felt that.
SQUARE DOWN I REPEAT SQUARE DOWN
😂😂😂a Framers problem when the Square falls 😂🤣😂🤣
Good video do you like that Hitachi staple gun I have one just like that but don't like it much paslode is the one I like but they work terrible in the cold
Master... Master.... Your glove is missing... Its so cold and watching him without wearing a glove feel very uncomfortable haha
For one, Gloves are for pussies. Second, They slow you down. Third, as long as you’re working hard your hands should stay functional without them.
Squares not square anymore aha
Just gotta throw it back onto the roof to unfuck it
There is definitely a silence at my house when I seen it fal😂😂😂
Happy New Year CF!!! Eager to see all the videos you will be making in 2020.
The wife watched this with me, spent the whole time going, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, lol
Yay sheeting my favorite part of building a house or anything
holy crap. great work. more stabila
i thought my 7:12 pitch was crazy for my garage and ADU. But yours is crazy.
It's Christmas, you should buy yourself a rebuild on that gun.
Things a piece of s#$&!
What nails are ? Or the sizes of the staples ? Which brand of nailer ? Thank you
What's the green treatment in the roof timbers and deck? Great videos.
water damage prevention.
@@chasejohnson2674 ur thinking of mold resistant drywall.
From previous videos along walls and roofs adjacent other residential buildings it's fire retardant. I think. Cheers
I would’ve lost my shit using that stapler
You should set the depth for your saw based on the width of your sheets, insures that your only cutting what you need to and not putting slices in the trusses
Glad to see a cordless.
where are you CF? we need content here in cold ass Finland!
Canada
I’m just learning about how to sheet a roof I’ve been a cut guy for 3 years and then the last year I’ve worked I’ve framed in joists more and helped nail rafters and hang fascia and all that. I’ve sheeted a 6/12 three times and I’ve sheeted a 9/12 backface of a house and a 9/12 valley in front face. Oddly enough I find pulling numbers harder than pulling up the sheet lol. Maybe one day can u do a detailed video for pulling numbers for hips and valley sheets
Glad it’s not windy
Hope all is well, looking forward to more videos!
Ground man should of ripped that ridge panel !! Measure and set the sheet , nail ! On one of my crews that's always the procedure ! Good luck with your projects .
He's a hell of a goer this guy.
I imagine he'll either be able to retiring young and rich or end up in a wheelchair.
Framers don't retire rich or early. They progress to other parts of the industry.
or both
Mainly, we work til we die, be that young or old. It is not a rewarding life.
Hi CF: suggestion for a video.
How to make a beer tray from a Christmas Tree.
We Canadian we recycle don't we
Your a beast man... Hope they pay you well. You deserve $500 plus per day easily. Great job as always and stay safe my friend. You also deserve over a million RUclips subscribers too.
Hell here in Texas $15 per hr is top pay for what he does. I quit framing, I make more remodeling and painting now.
Sean Washington is topping out@ 35 give or take for companies
@@nicholasameline7362 yeah texas sucks big time
He’s a sub contractor not an hourly employee
You can make alot of money doing this. Start a good name and do good work. Start out with one crew then build from there. Subcontract out to other framing companies once you have alot of work.
You ever run a nail through the pneumatic hose?
Who hasn't lol
You could try using some winter grade pneumatic gun oil for that stapler it worked for our staple guns when they did the same thing last winter.
Those days are over for me...I've got the knees to prove it. I can't even walk down a 5/12 without it feeling like somebody"s cappin' me in the knees with a ball peen.
#passedthetorch
Going down stairs is scary, especially first thing in the morning. Going up is no problem
Do weighted squats. It will fix your knees
It's time for a beer and a rafter hook
Crazy! Where are ya buddy??
What's up w that gun!?😄fkn hitachis!
Where’s Crazy? I need my fix!
TheJimbob1603 Right! I’m here to like.. Where you at bro ???
lolMyke
Seems like Crazy found something else to keep himself entertained; probably got married or something! Lol!
Can the Canadian Crazy Framer bring us a Christmas video?
You've unreal skills
Where's the paslode?
Coil nailer > stapler
what kind of nails are you using? Finishing nails?
You should try some red rubber roofing knee pads. They’ll grip to that wood. Just a suggestion, I roof with them all day. Awesome video too! ✌🏻
Don’t get it twisted, we are carpenters, not roofers.
I hate when you go home talk to everyone in the shop having a beer and say putting up the roof tomorrow, and every time some mother fuckers gonna say “oh really you do shingles?”
Get the fuck outta here. No matter how or how many times you say no I just do the building, wood construction we stop at shingles, nobody will ever understand there is a difference!
It weird nailing the ply with what are those finish nails?? Or staples
I have my gun jam on me all the time and I hate it so I definitely understand what that felt like
Hello Cr Fr. Are you ok? How's your thumb and hand? Enjoy the day. Ray L
Another awesome video! What is with the green lumber? Some type of waterproofing?
It’s a fire resistant paint. It’s required when the houses are so close together.
@@Thecrazyframer Good to know. Thanks for the response.
at least you have help this time ;)
The fastest air nailer in the north.
What tool belt you using?
Dewalt maybe? Oh he did a video about it: ruclips.net/video/8Jr43ps1KQM/видео.html
What's the deal with the green lumber?
$10 an hour job in Florida... 😜😄
pretty cool I frame in FLG AZ...Get some bro!!
Sweaty palms, now I know why you call yourself the crazy framer, you’re a machine
empathisizing with the grunts and curses...
Pasa inspección con grapas que clavos usas donde les aprueban eso
En ningún lado te puede pasar eso tiene que usar clavos 8
Do you prefer the bostitch stapler over the hitachi?
Someone tell me what the little square holes are for.
i woulda chucked that nailer hahahaha
A really dangerous profession! What beer do you drink? Since you have been talking about it, you can make an excellent beer advertisement. "Drinking this beer can certainly help you calm down. "
What size nails and nail gun are you using?
Watching your videos makes me miss framing. But don’t you think you over did it with the nailing? I was always told to do a 6 on the seam and 12 on field for roofs. Then again, regulations might be different where you’re at.
Are you kidding!? It’s fucking staples I’d rip every one them sheets off with my hands what do you think some high winds will do
cutting a pitched roof for the first time for my lead hand was fun even though i didnt have a clue.
You should pick up a quality nail bag with a square holder makes life way nicer
doesn't matter gravity always wins
Can you talk to us and give some advise/pointers/storys on what your doing while working please
What province ? Just curious if ive ever roofed a house you built lol
Hello Cr Fr. Wish I was there to give you a hand!! Maybe catch a hockey game. Enjoy the day. Ray L
Dude what kind of shoes you wearing?? I need to get me some of them instead of my boots!!
D.C.
What is your line connected too?
As fantastic as it is to watch other framers in other countries and there methods I still don't get why there is no scaffolds at all to be seen I can see its not needed for framing but how do they finish the walls or in fact cover the roof or fit windows? 👍
Roof shingles come on a truck and they crane them to the top, windows off a ladder or a zoomboom with a platform on the forks or build a temporary scaffold. The siding where I'm from is done from hydraulic pump jacks that attached to the roof and planks run across them so they can go up from ground level to underside of soffit
Here in my area we’re normally required to cut back an inch or so on the ridge for ventilation on any part of the house that’s heated, is it not a requirement up there?
That's for ridge vents. Otherwise you cut a 8x8 square hole. 1 for ever 300 sf for the vent
Do u buy your own nails If so how much money do u spend on one job for nails
Wow. You either waste a TON of staples, or you deal with a lot of misfires.
I noticed you run the plywood all the way to the top. Don't you run ridge vent across the top?
Scott Huff it was the squares he cut out on the top
Box vents bud, that's what the square he cut out is for
I stupidly wrote the question before video was finished so my bad
However , that being said ( in Pennsylvania at least ) we always use ridge vent because our inspectors argue those little squares don't vent enough for a roif that size. Also you can drill 1 1/2 holes along the length of the roof hips then install a foam low profile vent then you put caps over it.
I personally dont like that method.
But I digress. My question is hereby withdrawn
Sure drop those damn H clips on your helpers head lol.
Nice work man. I'm a Roofer and steep is always a challenge. Get in wicked shape tho.
Where are you building that house? Edmonton? Calgary?
What shoes are you wearing?
