- This grader blade has much bigger problems than we thought and the entire blade needs to be replaced! This is a John Deere 770GP motor grader and the blade structure is extremely worn out so we’re going to be replacing the entire blade. We show the step by step process to remove the old blade and install the new one. We also replace all the blade guide inserts and have to do some modifications for the GPS pole bracket to fit the new blade. After removing the old blade and seeing the extent of the damage we were very happy with the decision to replace it for a new one!

Have you ever seen a grader blade worn out like this before!? Got me beat how someone could paint over it and not let the owner know about the damage but here we are! 😎👍
This machine was actually painted at my workshop. We contacted the owners after the machine was blasted about the blade. they were happy for us to go ahead with the paint job and they would sort the blade out afterwards. I knew it was only a matter of time before a machine we painted ended up on your channel 👍 Love your work.
It's amazing how good a paint job makes a machine appear good, until you know what to look for. Great detective work Kurtis and good that you were able to save the owner a lot of headaches later on. Top notch mate..
Copper coat because you might be the one doing this again, in the future ;-)
I and the next guy to work on this machine thank you for the liberal use of anti-seize.
You know we've been sitting here nursing our beers waiting for the video drop!
You could probably rename your channel to Cutting Edge Education and still be 100% accurate.
Homeless is such a happy
Textbook example of using heat
When your happy to not only put your name on a repair but record the entire process the customers must be happy.
You're plus 32, we're minus 32 , it all works out mate.
Nothing made me happier than seeing that big can of anti-seize come out. I wish there were more shops like you guys that take pride in your work and always do what’s best for the customer.
Whoever did the paint work deserves a gold star. From what I could see, it looked like they did a very nice job of getting all of the grease off around the pivot points and getting paint on it. It looks like a factory paint job.
Apart from the metal work itself, the stuff you know about this machines, how exactly they are used, what common issues and failpoints are etc, is very impressive. That’s mostly experience and nothing you can learn by reading a book I assume.
A added benefit of these videos is, you have undeniable proof that you didn’t damage a expensive GPS sensor.Great job
Wow, you really made mounting that blade single handed look super easy. Great editing Karen!
At this rate, by next year...
What really amazes me is a machinist who does everything that a welder and mechanic does. Then can basically make almost anything.
I worked at the same place for almost 40 years. The first time I had to take apart something that I had previously repaired years earlier I was so happy that I had used never seize on the original job. I realized that I had done myself a huge favour. Cheers from the wilds of Canada. ~ulrich
I enjoy this man's work process. So clean, proper, safe, efficient, skillful, creative. A shame he has no apprentice. Perhaps all we are his apprentices. Grateful to be able to watch a skilled craftsman.
