      The area is largely uninhabited and the Ukraine/mercenary troops will meet the same fate as the men of the 'Free Russia' (actually foreign mercenary) units that wasted their lives for propaganda purposes crossing into Belgorod oblast last year.

    Thankyou. A very clear explanation of the objective in Kursk was given elsewhere that uggests that this is a well planned tactical manoevre by Ukraine. It's difficult to see without a map for people unfamiliar with Ukraine. Ukrainian troops were built up in Kharkiv and are pushing back. Now troops enter from the north west Sumy region and breech russian defences weakky held by conscripts. The tiktok Kadyrov army retreats and the young Russian conscripts surrender or flee. In a panic russian jets are sent to bomb and that results in loss of their own soldiers as well.
    Now Russia has a problem as Ukraine is 10 klm inside Russia so they send troops from Kharkiv to Kursk. This weakens the Kharkiv offensive and Ukrainians push forward.
    On the map younsee clearly the Russian dilemma. They have Kharkiv south of Kursk and It becomes a pincer attack. Their Kharkiv offensive is sacrificed to defend Kursk whuch makes it easier fo Ukraine to re capture it and possibly keep moving to join the Ukrainian Kursk offensive.
    Russia is overstretched.

    • @PalaeoClive237
      @PalaeoClive237 Месяц назад

      Very few Russian troops were at the border, allowing Ukrainian invaders to move -- but they're being hammered with artillery, FABs and missiles and the Russian reserves haven't been committed yet. This propaganda event will end with heavy losses and be forced to retreat as the previous Belgorod invasion was. The outcome of this war is Ukraine regime defeat.

    So, Russia has been threatening to do a Kharkov in this area and were meant to be assembling troops for it. The Ukrainians then had to have troops here if only to defend. Now the maxim is, the best form of defence is attack and the Ukrainians are attacking with what they had to have there anyway - they couldn't deploy it to the East.. Maybe they are setting up a moving ambush for Russian aviation (first on the scene) and then perhaps for other ground troops arriving piecemeal. It certainly creates problems for the Russians and a big political problem for Putin - it is being reported on Kremlin TV after all. The Russians can't not react.

      From an operational and strategic point of view, this attack makes absolutely no sense. This seems like a gross waste of people and resources that are so needed elsewhere
      - said Pasi Paroinen, an analyst from the Finnish think tank Black Bird Group.
      An expert from the Institute for Foreign Policy Research, Rob Lee, agrees with him, adding that if Kyiv wanted to divert part of the Russian forces, then it has no chance of doing so. In his opinion, Russia has much more powerful forces in the area, command and control, as well as reserves not yet used in special operations.
      It is unlikely that this operation will force Russia to withdraw significant forces from Ukraine

    Germany’s Last WW2 Offensive - Every Division, Every Day
    ruclips.net/video/PBzsYDwftoo/видео.html
    In March 1945, just weeks from the end of World War 2 in Europe, Germany launched a desperate attack on the Eastern Front, with its last remaining reserve of tanks. The result was a battle involving more than 600,000 troops that has been almost totally forgotten in the histories of the war. This was Operation Spring Awakening, Germany’s last offensive of the second world war.

    The Russian military’s Sever Group of Forces and the Russian Federal Security Service continue to eliminate Ukrainian troops who infiltrated the Sudzha and Korenevo districts of Kursk region, the Ministry of Defence announced on August 8.
    “Over the 24 hours, active actions of the State Border Covering Force along with border units, reinforcement units and arrived reserves, air and missile strikes, and artillery fire prevented the enemy from advancing,” the ministry said in a briefing. “Fire damage is inflicted on the located AFU manpower and hardware clusters. Attempts of separate units to get to the depth of territories in the Kursk direction were foiled.”
    Russian airstrikes also targeted the approaching Ukrainian reserves on the territory of the Sumy region, according to the ministry.
    Ukrainian losses in Kursk over the last 24 hours amounted to up to 400 troops and 32 armoured vehicles, including one tank, four armoured personnel carriers, three infantry fighting vehicles and 24 Kozak armoured fighting vehicles.
    “Since the beginning of battles in the Kursk direction, the AFU losses have amounted to up to 660 Ukrainian troops, 82 units of armoured hardware, including eight tanks, 12 armoured personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles, 55 armoured fighting vehicles, and one counter obstacle vehicle,” the ministry said, noting that the operation to neutralize Ukrainian troops in the region was “in progress.”
    Videos released recently by the ministry showed a cluster missile strike on a Ukrainian convoy and artillery strikes on a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzers as well as strikes by Ka-52 attack helicopters and others with Lancet loitering munitions against several infantry fighting vehicles, including a German-made Marder 1A3, in addition to two Kozak vehicles.
    Kiev forces launched their surprise attack in Kursk early on August 6, relying mainly on heavy weapons supplied by the United States and other Western allies. This indicates that the attack was orchestrated with help from NATO.
    While Kiev forces managed to infiltrate Russian territory and make few temporary gains in Sudzha and Korenevo, the heavy cost of the cross-border attack remains unjustified especially that Ukrainian troops in key directions like Donetsk are nearing collapse.

    The West does not understand the actions of the Ukrainian command, which launched an invasion of the Kursk region of Russia. According to several military analysts, the operation "doesn't make any sense." The New York Times writes about this.
    The American publication interviewed several Western military experts regarding the new operation of the Ukrainian army to invade the Russian border region. The general consensus among analysts is that this attack has no significance in a military sense. Even if the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces planned to use this operation to divert Russian forces from other directions, this is complete nonsense, since the Russian Armed Forces have much more reserves and can bring them into battle without easing the pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

    • @martavdz4972
      @martavdz4972 Месяц назад

      What makes them think this is purely a military strategy? Ukrainians know their best chance of defeating Russia is pressing the weak points of the economy and political system. What if there´s an official who doesn´t like Putin and is thinking of staging a coup, and he´s exactly the official who Putin will scream at for allowing the offensive to happen? This might push him over the edge and create chaos in Russia. Or, this is a diversion for a much bigger action somewhere else.

    Poor analysis. This sort of innovative surprise is what Ukraine is good at and it keeps the Russian guessing as to where they need to deploy their forces. The operation also took out a Russian heicopter nd made Putin weak as he cannot protect his borders.
