- Visitors to Krakow don't need to book a pricey guided tour to go and visit Zakopane for a day. Great buses run frequently and can take under 2 hours now that new express roads have opened. See how we went for a day trip to Zakopane - leaving Krakow at 11am and back by 9pm! You can do it too. Easy!
Zakopane is a must see destination any time of the year if you are visiting Krakow. It's especially magical in winter.
The buses leave at the bus station right next to the railway station.

At 6:34 you say Steak & Chalupa’s ( which literally translates to Steak Hut) . " chalupa " is pronounced Ha-wu-pa. The Polish " Ch" is pronounced like a H in English. Think of the "C " a sa silent C and you’ll be right....Great video of Zakopane in the Winter

You guys seem like such a lovely couple . Great video guys . My husband and I are coming to krakow in January and want to do a day trip to Zakopane . Hoping to do a few hours in the big thermal spa whilst there ; just have to figure out how to get to it from the centre of zakopane . Been to krakow twice and our polish friends in London have said that we have to go to Z . Also been to Gdańsk , Warsaw , Poznań , Wroclaw . Love Poland.

There's another winter capital of Poland, three hours away from Krakow also - Krynica in the Beskid Mountains. Looks different than Zakopane but it's equally beautiful and very much worth visiting.

Ah thanks, no didn't buy in Poland. But on that trip to Zakopane she tried more coats and we almost bought one - in fact on our plan to go there and get one
