This is the sort of content that will help our great community add new players! I'm sending this link (and Thea's beginner's guide) to my best friend and try to get him to start playing!
You got your friend into it? Been wanting to jump back in. But the effects is what gets me. Like how do I activate some. Like blood effect. Some say deploy some say range or melee but the ones I don't get is the ones that don't say anything
This is a brilliant guide. I've been playing for a few months but for someone like me who just started playing without any help this has great value. Especially as I mostly play elves and monsters. The understanding of the other factions is so important. Thank you and looking forward to the other faction guides.
This was great Lionhart! I’m currently helping a few friends get into the game and I’ve shared this video with them. I’ve been going over the basic concepts during games on discord with them and this guide will reinforce everything I’ve been trying to say!

Welcome to Gwent my friend! If you ever have questions, please feel free to ask! Discord is probably your best bet! The community is lovely and welcoming 😊
This guide has been super helpful understanding the NR starter deck and is much appreciated. Any chance you will be continuing on with the other factions?
I decided this content should be a lot more descriptive than a normal deck guide as there isn't enough "new player" focused Gwent content. We all pass over and assume everyone knows what we're on about :P Appreciate it!
I play in pro rank at decent MMR and this is just fun to watch. Great job just overall explaining the game. Something I'd bring up personally that I struggled with when I started is the 7 and 4 card thresholds. Passing on 7 to draw to 10, or if the opponent passes on 7, but have a very commanding lead, you can always take the round by playing down to 4 and then dry passing in r2 to essentially make up the cards lost. You remain to be one of the most optimistic and bright pillars in our community and it goes a long way.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the suggestion. A very basic run down of that is going into my new player hints video hopefully dropping this week 🤞 Appreciate it!!
thank you very much. I just picked up the humble bundle package and I think I will start with Northern Realms as you and follow along and see if I can get into Gwent online! I am always a bit hesitant now playing online but Gwent looks pretty relaxed and a lot of fun!
Great video. Disappointed there hasn't been any follow-ups for the other factions, particularly since you mentioned they'd be forthcoming at least six times ;)
this video has been so helpful, I just got back into gwent and all the information you’ve put into this video is great !! definitely gonna subscribe, thanks man 🙏🏽
One of the most informative guides I've seen, breaking down not only deck building but how to upgrade the deck. Using the starter journal section makes a ton of sense for upgrading early on, but isn't very well explained in the game.
@@LionHartCards Thanks! I was looking at a lot of Gwent youtubers to see who could guide me in the right direction, and found yours most informative! I look forward to seeing the other videos teach me something new!
Dude the end of the video explanation is totally me bro. I messed up by trying to solely commit to a single faction. Now I'm gonna have to somehow grind and get a BUNCH more rewards to correct my mistake. Super frustrated.
@@LionHartCards I appreciate your time and understanding, and taking time to speak with me. Idk if I can, but is there somehow I can message you through discord privately and discuss my current decks and get your opinion on how I should proceed? I've not really found a straight forward answer yet, I'd really appreciate your advice. Take care my friend. 🤙
That's definitely an option. With the new changes recently with Grace cards there are a few fun tweaks that could be made! I'll build something new and share it here soon ,😊
Great video, I like NR faction and wanted to try something aside the begginer deck given automatically, unfortunately for this deck I am only missing Queen Meve and +400 scraps to craft her! Not the only problem since it seems there has been an update between now and the time that has made the deck unavailable, it says it has +1 extra provisions, can you please give an advice about what card to switch with what in order for the deck to be viable and still live up to the same potential? Thanks mate, Cheers!
They're in progress my friend! The footage is ready for most but I started a new job and the project is side tracked. Which faction were you looking for? 👀
Thank you so much for this! I had a lot of fun learning how to play the starter deck. One question: I tried to upgrade to the list you linked in the description and its 1 over the provisions limit. To fix this, I dropped "Burning Oil" for "The Pellar". Does that work?
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it ! That can work fine but they have slightly different functions. Boiling oil can be a backup warfare card for Jon Natalis so consider a 4p warfare card instead!
32:48 Now the Temerian infantry no longer causes damage to the enemy, it reinforces our units, is it a good idea to replace it with a card that causes damage? Or what would be the best option?
This one definitely needs a full rework! I am looking to make a guide for every faction once we're past World Masters and this will definitely shift things up! I do have a video from October which focuses around the Temerian Infantry and it's ALOT of fun to play so for now i'd advise giving that one a look!
For damage, i'd take a look at my Siege list from November 2023 "Siege is BACK". That is a fun way to start aiming towards if you like damaging engines!
@@LionHartCardsThanks, I'll take a look at them, I'm having a lot of fun with this deck, I went from lvl 27 to 24 very easily in a win streak, until I was crushed by someone playing a deck that reinforced their monsters by 500 with the infinite frosts on my fields 😅

I'm having a hard time understanding some of the mechanics. Cards like the Siege Tower do a lot of stuff in one card, and it isn't obvious what it all is starting out. Do you have a recommended noob deck for people like me, where it's fairly straightforward through all the cards?
I’ve been playing Siege deck and I like it a lot; but although strong it has some bad matchups, so wondering if I shouldn’t go for a better NR deck.. it’s just Patience and Wandering Sorceress are hard ti play and not my style
Siege is a great NR deck overall, it does has some weak matchups but so do almost all lists. Patience (alumni) is probably slightly worse overall in the meta and while The Priestess Spam deck is comfortably the strongest list right now.... we have a patch in 7 days and i'd be stunned if it wasn't hit with a few nerfs (both the card and it's current most common list). So perhaps wait and see where the changes lay first before switching!
@@LionHartCards I see, I almost built a deadeye spam but it doesn’t have so much appeal like Siege.. do you have any archetype that works similar to siege ?
