Chair Handover Ceremony

Our Chair Handover Ceremony, live-streamed from the Big Sangha Retreat at Adhisthana in May 2024. During the ceremony, the role of Chair of Manchester Buddhist Centre was ritually handed over from Silabodhi to Lokeshvara.
Silabodhi had been our Chair for around five years. This was a great opportunity for us to express our gratitude for everything that he’s given to us during that time, seeing us through the pandemic, improving the Centre’s finances, and asking difficult but necessary questions about the future location of the Buddhist Centre. It was also a chance to welcome Lokeshvara, a highly respected Order member who was an International Order Convenor for eight years and was previously Chair of Padmaloka Retreat Centre.
The Chair of the Buddhist Centre is a central position in our community. The Chair is the key source of spiritual, strategic and operational leadership for the Centre, ensuring a clear, inspired vision for the future whilst supporting a vibrant and healthy sangha.
