Hijab by itself is neither a knife or a gun, it is a simple and passive tool for declaring your commitment to Allah. I had a similar confusion of handshaking with opposite sex. While struggling to commit to it, one of my secular female professors in a gathering put her hand forward to shake and I did not raise my hand to meet hers. She quickly scrutinized me and said "You need to get over these backward things", then I realized that if I said that "I don't shake hands because of hygiene issues" she would be fine with it, but why should I act this cowardly? Why can they do whatever they want to their body and tries to force us to accept it with executive force while we have acted this apologetic. Said to myself if they are going to get angry over these little issues let them be. Both of us need to change. We need to change ourselves to fit with the rulings of Islam more while they need to understand that our commitment will not be broken easily.
I get your point about being more practical in living our Islamic way of life as Muslims. Still, your personal experience with your professor seems unique in Kemalist influenced secular-Turkiye. The issue you raised is more relaxed in Western societies. Kemalist-Secularism is neither like France nor the US secularism; the purpose of Kemalist-Secularism is to keep Islam under the control of the government. Recent AK Party rulings over two decades helped relax some of the harsh applications of Kemalist-Secularism, such as the dress code of the secondary education. Btw, "HIjab" is not a simple and passive tool for declaring your commitment to Allah; "Hijab" is an explicit declaration of Faith and following Allah Almighty's order. There isn't any difference between daily mandatory prayers and wearing Hijab or taking Wudu before every single prayer in Islam.

No, its a devirate from the worshipp of the godess Isis , the godess Isis had a shrine in Armarna were she had a temple made of granit, were her perfect form a black cubic stone from onyx ( the actual altarstone that Moses was going to sacriface Isac or Ismael depending one fafe ) the templemound today . Let’s be honest…wearing hijab in the West is not easy. You get stared at and sometimes discriminated against. God bless you sister
may Allah protect u and guide u sis Lauren. Well said.
If i had a very precious diamond costing millions of dollars i would not flaunt it around carelessly for all to see. It would be gone in a blink. I would wrap it up carefully and guard it with my life. Women are much much more valuable than that. No women equals No Human Race.
