GS paper 1
Broadly History & Geography
Sub topic 7
1st Modern History
2nd ancient and mediaeval history of India + Art & Cultural
3rd Post Independence History
4th World History
5th Indian Society
6th Indian Geography
7th World Geography
8th Physical Geography
Now materials that you have to follow -
10/15 Questions come every year from Modern History for prelims and 1 to 5 questions in mains examination.
Book - Spectrum by Rajiv Ahir
(After one time reading you have to revise 3-4 times before prelims to answer them with factual information)
NCRT New from Class 8th & 12th (theme 3)
(Above source is sufficient for modern history)
No notes is required for prelims (as we have to revise it multiple times)
You can prepare mains specific notes from above books (50 to 70 pages)
2nd topic ancient mediaeval and art and culture
(15 to 20 questions in prelims)
(Not much covered by in mains)
Very uncertain topic
NCRT Class 6th ,7th New,12th (theme 1&2), Fine Arts NCRT
If u are able to complete your syllabus in time then u can go for Nitin Singhaniya (only if time permits, as the topic is very uncertain)
3rd topic Post Independence and Indian Society & 4th World History (Both the topics will come in mains only)
Post Independence will be covered in Polity, Economy and specific history.
Any short book available in market from 1950 to 2010.
Indian society is a good topic can be used in essay and ethics.
Book - Next IAS for Indian Society (120 pages only)
5 topics given for Mains (Indian Society)
Make 10-15 pages notes for above topics.
For world History old NCRT for class 11th is sufficient (only 1 or 2 questions in mains)
Now for Indian geography, physical geography and world geography. (Important for mains and prelims)
Physical geography - G.C.Leogn
6 to 12 NCRT (MAINS) with understanding of Maps.
Current affairs is limited in GS paper 1, still we can link places form current affairs related to their geographical location.
Strategy for GS Paper 2
(Current affairs & static portion equal weightage)
Divided into 4 parts
1st Polity and political issues
2nd Governance of India
3rd social issues
4th International relations
(Polity and international relations will come both in prelims and mains)
(Governance and social issues will come in mains)
Polity - Lakshmikant (5 to 6 times revision) highlight the mains specific topics within that book.
Governance will be current affairs based , take 365 from vission IAS.
How judicial system is governed.
How to govern the executive and bureaucracy system, legislative system including state and Central.
Transparency and accountability in governance, open governance, e governance.
Take yojana magzine.
Society issue like vulnerable sections of society, education policy related topics.
Government policies in health sector.
Book - Indian Society by next IAS
And from current affairs magazine (chapter based on social issues)
Check previous year question related to social issues. (Take these topics seriously after covering up ur pre specific portion)
For International relations
Read issue of India with its neighbouring countries, relationship of India with other countries of the world.
Different organisations of the world like WHO, UN, UNFCCC, WTO - structure of these organisations and what is their role?
Foreign policy of India
1st link to above topics can be obtained from world history (during cold war period) to generate an idea about the historical changes that took place during the last fifty years.
2nd from the compilation of Current affairs notes from Vision IAS or Next IAS or any other magazine.
( Current affairs related to international relations for last two years) or Mains 365 Compilation.
In mains there will be simple questions based on international relations.
For prelims they ask international relations based on geographical location or treaty signed in previous years.

Economy and economic issues of India
Environment and ecology
Internal security (only mains)
Science & technology
Disaster management
Books for environment and ecology (20 questions in prelims)
Next IAS or Shanka IAS on environmental and ecological along with wildlife sanctuary and geographical location.
Economy - Ramesh Singh or video lectures by Mrinal, monthly compilation of notes from current affairs,
Economic survey vol 1 (mains) & 2 (prelims and mains)
Budget document (india govt website)
Internal security- 5 topics (take notes from market)
Science & Technology 9&10 NCRT & Current affairs
Digester management - 9& 10 NCRT Digester management, ndma guidelines short notes.
GS 4. ( Mains)
Ethics- Sec A
Depends on your thinking, keep the source limited. Lexicon
Handwriting notes with examples.
Section 2 ethics based on case studies. Read some answers from toppers and develop your way of writing. Develop 10/15 model case studies.
GS 4 essay
(Include 7 to 10 dimensions with introduction, body and conclusion)
Current affairs source
News paper ( on daily basis with consistency) 45 mins to 1 hour,
Monthly compilation of news paper,
Take one test series, practice answer writing practice daily one answer after two three months after preparation,

Sir don't take it personal I want to say one thing aspirtàns like u who r attempting double or triple with qualifying better rank before .... No doubt u have cleared many more competitive exam too ... My question is only if the student like u attempt so many times for better rank how much new comers and freshers get chance in a limited seats ... So sir my suggestion is only when u r the part of system then I expect changes 'll come by ur intitative only not by the parliamentry committee 'll do so make example for new comers to show satisfaction ànd do better service which post u have ..,.
