Colin, I am continually amazed at the evolution of features that Adobe adds to its photographic editing programs. Your presentations highlight tools and methods that make the use of Photoshop, as in this example, easier and more precise. Thank you. Jay
Thank you! I have used Photoshop since it's beginning but still love seeing your tips and tricks. This object selection tool would have been much appreciated during my deadline days in the "dark ages". Again thank you for your generous photoshopCAFE information!
Colin, as usually a great and useful tutorial. After making a mask, I'd rather go to the Select and Mask and refine mask with much more power. But, this tutorial is a great way to popularise the usage of a layer mask. After Photoshop introduced Control+Opt+drag (lef-right for size, up-down for hardness), I never went back to the brackets.
@photoshopcafe Nothing about short and crisp tutorials. I like it. This more discussion about techniques you use and some other ways. I have used Photoshop daily for the last 30 years. I was ACI for 15 years until Adobe cancelled the program. I do presentations and training for professional users. Your channel is something I follow gladly and always suggests it to my students. I have great respect and admiration for your work. I'd like to discuss with you different approaches and ways of doing things. Through time, I developed some systems for me, but I always like to learn more and find better ways, if there is any. Thanks for your reply.
I don’t learn anything new today Colin, only because I’m old hat now with photoshop, but I still watched it just to see your cheery smiley face! Have a good day buddy.
Wow, thanks Colin! I have been using it, but only with the rectangle, I never even noticed that I could switch to the lasso! Now I can use this even more effectively!
WHAT A ***GREAT* quick video. Up to now, I have been saving selections as... selections in the channels. Never thought of saving them as masks. two different roads to the same destination. Thanks!
@@photoshopcafe Gave it a go and it worked almost perfectly. Tried it on some hotrods, whcih are traditionally tricky due to all the engine parts that stick out but it was much easier.
OK. But my complaint is that if you were to select all of her, it will not make one selection, but it will make separate selections of the face and hands, clothing, book, etc. and there isn't anyway to combine those separate selections.

I try to keep these short tuts concise and simple. I recently made 2 tuts on select and mask, there might be some new stuff on those for you.

❤❤👌👌
how to do rgb to cmyk without color change😢😢😢😢 make video please 😭😭😭😭😭😭
That’s not possible. Colors will shift, especially the blues. Many RGB colors don’t exist in the CMYK space. RGB is light. CMYK is pigment
@photoshopcafe thanks 🙏🙏
Timely reminder
Why not just use the refine mask?
Because this isn’t a tut on that. lol. I did 2 tuts on select and mask about a month or so ago

If you want to select all of her, use select subject. This method is to select objects with objects.
