I’m very excited to have won the auction tonight. I had a new one that was purchased on December 8, 1985. I sold it to get my first car in 1988 and I’ve been kicking my butt ever sense for letting that bike go. I have been searching for one in great shape for over a decade. I can’t wait to get the bike home.
Mark.., congratulations on winning my bike.. The bike almost got washed away by Hurricane Sandy, but Fate stepped in and I saved it.. Get my phone number from Kenny, and I will send you the Original tires..
What a beautiful machine ! A real man's man motorcycle that was pure quality & built to last. Modern bikes may overall perform better but just aren't built like this anymore. Early to mid 80's through to mid 90's built motorcycles will always be my favorite.
One of my favorite bikes. A great cruiser and still light enough and powerful enough to rip around as fast as you dare on the trails. Great fuel economy too with the single carb in 85.
Had the 85 XR600R. I absolutely loved that bike. This bike brings back a lot of memories. I sold my 600 in 94 and stopped riding all together. Recently picked up a 2007 XR650R my fist bike in 27 years. Rode for the first time since then in the sand dunes of Glamis California. After all those years away it started coming back to me. Little harder to do in my 50's now, especially after being away from riding for so long, it's slowly coming back though. Love your channel.
I'm 60... still have my 84 XR250R. Haven't ridden it in years, 'cept every November for a couple blocks to keep everything "moving". I'm gonna go easy trail riding this Spring though. I am still in great physical shape, thank God.
Oh man what a beauty I think this was one of the best years hands down for the XRs I remember seeing him in the showroom and that's exactly how they looked albeit the gold chain and the gas tank decal she's brand new

I can remember sitting on that same bike in the Honda showroom when i was a kid.. I lived there buying parts for my other bikes, i was buying old bikes.. fixing them, flipping them. fixing for others.. etc.. thats what they get for putting a Honda dealer close to my house.. lol.. Honestly sat on all of them.. wishing i had the money to buy one.. well, i'm a big guy so I usually got on the 500, but the 350 was closer to what i thought i might afford.. i had a couple year old, but clean YZ 490 at the time that i got from my dad's business partner cheap.. his kid ran straight gas in it resulting in a seizure.. so be basically gave it to me to teach his kid a lesson.. i resurrected it from a straight the seizure, but i always wanted a new Honda... a couple years later i did get my XR 500, used but decent.. traded it for a XL600 later down the line and so on.. 80's bikes are where my heart is, i'm buying all the bikes now that i wanted back then.. lol.. my shop looks like a 1984/85 honda/yamaha dealer now..

The more of these XR's that I see in your museum the more I wish I had donated my 86 XR600R just so she could be restored! Thanks again, fellas! God bless you guys and God bless America! ML&R!
I had to settle on a leftover 83 XR 500. All of the 84 XR 350's were gone and they still had 83 500's. I remember smoking my friends CR 500 and YZ 490 on it. Having a 100 mph top speed let me blow by them after they got the initial jump on me. 80 mph wheelies made up for the fact that it didn't like corners that weren't as wide and flat as the Springfield mile. Had an 84 XR 250 as well. Great desert bikes.
