    In my opinion florida ghost is a perfect plant
    - chill low effort
    - fast ish grower
    -fun leaf shape without overtaking a room
    - different from basically every other plant
    - comes out pure white to green depending on light so you can kind of customize the look you want
    - you get to experience the fun minting of the leaves so every leaf is constantly enjoyable to watch
    - feels fancy and rare ish and non plant people don’t know about it so it’s a cool plant to show off but it’s not too expensive and is pretty easy to find
    - flo gho is such a cute name

    You always bring the beauties! My two easiest philos are Jungle Boogie and much to my surprise, Tortum. My Jose Buono is easy but doesn't have that nice tight internodal spacing like yours. Mine grows kinda lanky. But it's pretty easy other than the half moon leaves tend to melt on the yellow side.

    Also, you’re in San Diego! Omg me too! I had a suspicion when you mentioned you had an Ecuagenera nursery nearby, and I was like wait a minute…I have an Ecuagenera nursery near me too, and the only Ecuagenera nursery I know of in California is here in San Diego. What a pleasant surprise!

      Are you in the San Diego group? I think it’s San Diego Houseplant Collective. They do all kinds of events and stuff and it’s where I find all my deals and sell all my plants.
      As for the baby philos, I’d put them in a prop box under nice bright light for a while and leave them there until they get more established.

    Can you make an intermediate level Philo video?

    • @PlantFriendDownTheStreet
      @PlantFriendDownTheStreet  Год назад +1

      I probably can… I just think I probably need to make a baseline care video first because plants that are intermediate to me with my care regimen and conditions may be way more work than someone is willing to commit to even if they have plenty of experience to be keeping intermediate level plants. Off the top of my head I’d probably say anything variegated for sure

    agree with all of these except for the ghost, just because I’ve never owned it. My Jose reeeeeally took to its moss pole, like the leaf size almost tripled and my once very low-variegated plant went sectoral on me! Golden Dragon is also a good one. Not rare at all, but people seem to have forgotten about it. I love the leaf shape and it’s so easy going ☺️

    • @PlantFriendDownTheStreet
      @PlantFriendDownTheStreet  Год назад +1

      That’s awesome! Golden dragon would be another good one for statement piece potential… maybe I should make a part 2 if I get enough good suggestions. Someone also recommended the tenue.

    • @ronjakh
      @ronjakh Год назад

      @@PlantFriendDownTheStreet I had a tenue, but I sold it on when it was still very small. I feel like that might be one that really needs a moss pole? and obviously the wizard, knight and princess are easy. I’ve put my itty bitty wizard on a moss pole and want to see how much I can get the leaves to size up ☺️ I would guess the sixties to be pretty easy going too. A lot of plants that we all used to love have been left behind for new fancier ones. Maybe a forgotten archives type video would be interesting? classics that are cool and easy to grow, but that people don’t really talk about anymore

    Ooh, I loved this video! 💚 I recently got a P. Florida Ghost 1 big, minty leaf cutting. I potted it in LECA and it's given me two small white juvenile leaves. I see yours has the gorgeous big mature leaves while just being staked. Is a moss pole necessary since it gives the big leaves already?

      I’ve thought about this a lot and I would imagine that maybe they would get even bigger? That would be the hope… hopefully I don’t mess it up. The cloudy spring this year really messed up my growing season so maybe I just need to chill out and not mess it up further haha!

    It's always so interesting when someone gets results so different from mine. My Billietiae is the most miserable, moody, impossible to please thrip magnet. Ok, maybe the thrip magnet is a bit unfair and it has withstood attack better than some others. And furthermore mine looks nothing like your proud looking specimen. The very pale leaves on mine head off in all different nonsensical directions even turning downwards and or sideways as if it has no clue which direction the light is coming from. The only plant I've had to rescue from root rot. Best I can say is it's not a quitter but it is determined not to enjoy life. For context I have dozens of Philodendrons and Monstera that are quite happy. Tried various distances from grow light, less water, more water.. Go figure. Happy to see yours doing so well. These can get very large, but it just ain't happening at my place.

      @PlantFriendDownTheStreet  Год назад +1

      Some Glorious are crawlers, not climbers. It depends on what parent they take after. They are a hybrid, so sometimes they climb like one parent, sometimes they crawl like the other. Maybe try growing it as a crawler and see if it likes that better?
