each group starts in a corner, has to defend its unit spawner and upgrade hero/units. killing enemy units gives eco, heroes give a lot. you want to focus on either hero or units and if you focus on hero, its better to leave troops passive or you might feed. there are shops for hero items, special units etc. Personally I think the custom Footmen in SC2 is better, because it has more variety for units and still maintains the hero variety scale of the WC3 map
To my knowledge this was one of the earliest MOBA type games, with a hero unit and the ability to routinely spawn non-hero units to attack enemy bases. Obviously it's a lot different from modern MOBAs with their automatic spawning and non-controlled non-hero units. Nexus Wars may have come earlier, I can't remember.
The best is Blood Mage, he can Fire Strike two opposing Footman lines and kill both lines for massive gold and experience. In case a hero-killer hero approaches he can Banish him and take his mana with Siphon Mana! And Phoenix does good splash damage and has a safe home for it's egg in your base! I really liked Footman Frenzy but there were cheaters every game I played and I gave up some years ago... And many in my team used to quit also too soon. :-/
I remember playing FF on b.net in net cafe. that was some good times. on another note, the nohunter clan(sorry if I dont remember their name correctly) destroyed the map with their elitist circle jerking. The map was fun and full of possibilities until they butcher everything in the later versions. One of the reason why I still hate elitist in gaming communities to this day
It's been more than 10 years when I dive in this RPG map and many others as well, lol. That was the best period of Chinese WAR3 community. BTW, DR is the strongest one I have ever used but their team lost 哈哈.
@@TabalugaDragon Gameranger and all the other unofficial multiplayer uses an old version of WC3. You can't play with people on Bnet now because bots ceased to exist and version differences.

I play Footman Frenzy regulary and cant pull cool shit even with Death Sheep and Mountain Giant lol
I haven't played footmen frenzy in such a long time. Games easily lasted over an hour.

And remember buy cloak of flames if u are melee hero so u can farm in others bases cuz I saw a lot of nova saving footmens

OMg this was my favorite. I got banned from a lobby for winning this map over and over again. The hero scale gets crazy lol.

You need to buy Warcraft 3 Reforged.
you can pirate it like I did and then play via GameRanger, it uses local network but works via internet.
If you want to play the most recent and most populated, you have to buy Warcraft 3 Reforged. Pirating doesnt work now if you wanna play Multiplayer.

It's 18 you can see his hero stopped gaining xp at lvl 18
