I heard through the grapevine that some awesome Dwarf Golden Barbs had arrived at the fish store so decided to make a new setup for them. And another reason I love nano fish so much, is you can put lots of multiple groups together, so that's what I did with Lampeye's as well. Love how it turned out and it's also very affordable to what with budget lighting and a cheap internal filter. Yes, the plants are expensive but you certainly don't need to start with the amount added to this tank. Half the fun to be honest is watching them all grow in. 👍

Gosh you need a huge group of emerald eyed raspboras if you like the nano fish... they were smaller than the sparkling gouramis I had them with...
Also I think you need a moss ball ball pit aquarium filled with kuhli loaches.... and just a ton of moss balls for them to run through!!!

You know you've watched a lot of MD content when you start to recognize specific pieces of hardscape wood from previous builds. Love the videos, great inspiration, thank you for the top-notch content MD!
When you were setting it up I thought to myself "This really reminds me of a classic George Farmer tank" but by the end, after you added all those stems I said "and now it is an MD tank." I love both of your styles so much. You both have inspired me greatly in this hobby. I hope we get to see you two together again shortly. Those little fish are really stunning, and they fit the scale of the tank really well. Nano fish are my favorites too. Take care.

MD your selection of fish from Maidenhead is AWESOME. I hope viewers that are in the area or further a field with do business with them. Quality fish shops with great supplies are not common.

That's what is great about nano tanks,, the creatures are so beautiful, they interact very well and you get to possess so many of them! Makes hoarding functional.
Love this hardscape. Planting is great, too, though I would have stopped short of tucking all the Anubias in there but we've come to realize you can't help yourself!
Adding those various stems at the end really made the tank pop, fantastic!

I just added a larger school of gold barbs to my 115gal community. I absolutely LOVE them. They are busy and have tons of personality. Total beggers. They remind me of mini common goldfish and that's a good thing.
I switched to using pool filter sand and it's fantastic. Water clears in no time at all, didn't need to rinse and it doesn't affect the pH.

i love lampeyes, i live i west Africa so i have access to a few native species. also they absolutely love water with a slight bit of tannins in them and it makes their eyes shine even brighter.
The fish shop always make me envy with those collection, i wish had one in my town 😁

Warning on the light: blue light has been consistently contributing to (as in, cover up the blue, and the problem resolves) specific algae growth, and red lights contributing to other algaes growth....
So if green thread, blackbeard, or staghorn shows up, might want to look at the light.
I don't have any option on change, so I opted for the purplish blend your light has, and have the most stubborn, hard to scrape, green spot going on😂

Great set up MD. Nice to hear someone give a big shout out for nano fish. I have a 100 gallon tank.....all nano fish. Well, sort of. I have two Farlowella catfish. About 6 cm long, but only three mm wide!
I started laughing when Matt did that turn. My wife peeked her head in to see what I laughing at, saw what I was watching, rolled her eyes and closed the door. I started an instagram account a little while ago, I have no idea what I am doing, my daughter tried to help but I ended up more confused. The other day Matt started following me, I was blown away! For me, it was like a celebrity was following me. I now have 7!
Just want to say I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago, I am new to the hobby. And just cycled my first 2 tanks. Sadly was fish in cycle as I made that rookie mistake. They are doing fine though. But I started the hobby to do an aquascaped tank for my living room. And I’m wanting to do a tank similar to yours. Def low tech. And colorful and lush. i love the crypts in this tank, and have been loving how you've started incorportating buce into your builds the last 4-5 months.
i think it would be super cool if you made a crypt only (or crypt-like only) tank. there is this japanese kid who is a really great scaper in my opinion, has a channel, his name is Ryo Watanabe and he has an amazing crypt tank that could potentially get your imagination going if you think its a good idea

I'm new to your channel. Been watching past videos and really enjoy them. Beautiful looking tanks mate! I've had fish since a little kid and find having a tank is so relaxing to just sit and watch them. I have a 75 gallon tank which I had to tear down for personal reason but it had a family of Conga tetras, Emerald green Cory cats and Ghost shrimp. I reused my Chiclid white sand. I can't remember the plant names but plenty of plants. I was shocked that my plants grew really good planted right in the sand. I've always over filter using a fluval Hw 3000 150 gallon. I hardly get algae growth in the tank. The only place I get algae is a small area where the sun hits my tank for a couple hours. I bought six Emerald greens years ago and they actually spawn in my tank so now the ones that used to be in my tank were born in it. First time I woke up and seen a crap load of white dots all over everything and was like wth is that. Had to do some research to figure it out lol. Thanks for the awesome videos. My friend is housing my fish until I can get my tank set back up.
