Thank you so much for watching!!! You can find the playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLZ-AWUEixtg3S3V563w8gYFsxyvUd8p1R I hope you have a great day!!! - Dawn
Thank you for noticing, I really can't wait until there is a playlist of ten videos that are all exactly 10:00 minutes each, lol....it's the little things in life! ;)
I loved your videos when I first found your channel years ago, and I am amazed how you manage to keep your channel interesting, fresh and engaging and how you have even improved the presentation quality (when it was already great!). I love your sharp, succinct presentation of such great information. Thank you!
These are the exactly SAME words that I wanted to write!! I never get bored watching your videos, Dawn, and listening to your clear and concise explanations. And I appreciate this going back to the basics. Greetings from Italy!
Thank you Dawn for bringing up diabetes. I have had to deal with it since I was a child, for over 40 years and it is alot to deal with every day. Simplicity does help. Lowering inventory does help. Thank you for going back to the basics videos.
My small child getting type 1 doesn’t help me increase anything cognitively because of the amount of mental energy it needs, but it was a huge factor in becoming minimal so I could focus on the diabetes and being ready for an emergency. These videos really help for motivation and useful tips.
I can totally relate, I've been diabetic for 40 years this year since I was a child and as you know but others don't/can't realise the 24/7 365 nature of living with this condition as well as dealing with life and all that entails can be debilitatingly (not sure that's a word 🤔) exhausting abd simplifying the things you can really does help 🙂
Dawn, your managing inventory revelation was to me what Joshua Becker's neighbor saying, "Did you know you don't have to have all this stuff" was to him.
Dawn, being a diabetic, I just breathed a sigh of relief as you described how we have to be aware of our blood sugar constantly. Thank you for acknowledging that. It's so true. We try to not let it be a heavy weight, so having less stressors in our home (life) is necessary for a better quality of life. Just like the caregivers out there too. Minimalism helps everyone. Keep preaching it, Honey!!! You're making a difference ❤
“Inventory” is the concept that has helped me the most too!! THANK YOU! And the freedom gained from the perspective that I’m NOT just a lazy slob of a bad mom, I’m just trying to manage too much. That’s a motivating realization. It even helps me with calendaring! Thank you, Dawn 😄
Everyone with a chronic physical disability or in pain has the same problem regarding bandwithd as those with diabetes. Thanks for mentioning this because the able-bodied don't realize this.
Your idea of seeing all our belongings as inventory is brilliant and causes that "a-ha" moment for anyone struggling with trying to keep a home clean, organized and functional and stressed out chronically because of it, which is probably most people at some point. We all got stuck keeping things that we "might use" and potentially useful and that we like but without thinking about what actually fit reasonably and what we actually use, and that we do not actually have to keep all the extra items-and we SHOULD NOT keep them! I am very grateful to you for this concept!
Me too! I actually got rid of most of my bedroom furniture that was "silently yelling at me". I was surprised how much relief I felt when it was gone. Most people thought I was crazy, but I've decluttered so much it was empty anyway.
My best friend texted that she felt so relaxed while she was helping her daughter dog sit at a family member’s lake house one weekend. I told her about the concept of the silent to do list and said that when she’s at home, everything she owned was saying, “clean me”, “fix me”, etc. She said that sounded crazy. I think I explained it wrong! 🤣. Or maybe my friend isn’t too bright!
What stuck out to me is the phrase current season. This helps me detach from objects by appreciating the seasons of life i was in and ones i currently am in.
As someone who plays video games, the term "inventory" really resonates with me! If I have too much stuff in a game, I can't find what I need when I need it... Just like real life 😂
So true! You should see my animal crossing island right now, my house storage is full, can’t upgrade it yet so I completely cluttered my island to deal with it later! Lol need to declutter in real life and in game
I just listened to your podcast yesterday, headed into my special needs son’s room and decluttered two-thirds of his toys. His room is always a disaster, and so I simplified his toys to the ones that I actually see him playing with often. His room feels a lot better now. I had to get honest about which toys were just sentimental, and which ones weren’t realistic for his developmental level. So it was harder than it seemed like it should be.
I have type 1 diabetes, so true. I call diabetes my 5th kid and I only have 4 kids. I recently decluttered my garage wall of totes filled with kids clothes, homeschool activities and toys, decluttered my fantasy self and just in case items in the process. I don't spend my Saturday mornings reorganizing and putting things where they belong. My pool table doesn't get a mountain on top of it of things that I have to put away..
Dawn, I've always loved your message and I like these 'review' videos because they are more in-depth and full of wisdom. You are a natural! Keep it up, and thank you.
This concept reminds me of grocery shopping in the Dominican Republic. I lived there for a while and when I moved back to the US I found grocery shopping at Walmart and whatnot SO overwhelming. The DR had far less inventory than here in the states and it made shopping a breeze! Now I shop at Aldi and really enjoy their limited inventory.
Love, love, love this concept of inventory along with stage of life. When i was raising my family of seven children, my stage of life was not so much inventory of toys, but of food. I raised and canned a 2-acre garden, butchered all the meat, milked cows, and raised 100 chicken to sell eggs for spending money. My children never went hungry, but often their toys and clothing were lacking. I would be given hand-me-downs that I would remake into clothing that would work for them. I kept my home relatively clean, but food was my biggest priority and "inventory". I only bought salt and canning lids. I say this for prospective. Seasons change. Now I am the retired Grandma working on my "Swedish Death Cleaning." Getting rid of the "skapp" 🇸🇪 or 'stuff" 🇺🇲 that I have accumulated in 70 years, is my priority. I am greatful to manage less and less almost daily. My life has been simplified, and I love having a clean home with only my most beloved items around me. Watching you describe the inventory of a drawer, or container, it is so much easier to understand. Not having to decide what to wear because of simplifying is absolugtely a God-señd. Thank you for your bright, cheerful way of articulating the concepts behind minimalism. And I appreciate the genuine care you give to all of your viewers. You truely want what is best for them. Agape ❤
You have truly impacted my life and the lives of all in my family. It’s been such a journey but I so enjoy your videos. This world teaches us that the more we have the happier we are and I’ve found that couldn’t be further from the truth. Thank you for your videos and inspiration.
These videos are fantastic. Clearly a lot of thought and care put into the structure and delivery of the information. I also really appreciate the science that you include to support these ideas (personally, they are at least REMINDERS of why it’s important that I do this. I have ADHD and mum to a 4 year old. I’ve slowly discovered that the less that I have, the easier it is to maintain a tidy home and thus clear, healthy mind. But you break down these ideas so well, thank you 🙏
Yes!! I tell others about inventory now too! Life changing for me. I’m the daughter of a severe hoarder so clutter has always been the enemy, but I never really knew what was and what wasn’t an appropriate amount of stuff to own as an adult. And this thought took up space in my brain everyday in the same way clutter took space in my home. When you taught us about “inventory” suddenly, I thought differently. Inventory not only made decluttering and tidying easier, but it stopped me wondering and trying to figure out what was the right amount of belongings. And tbh the brain space is what I’m most grateful to you for. Thank you! Eternally grateful, Elspeth
I love your videos, been watching you for years. Got a little busy lately and fell "off the wagon" so to speak and I can tell!! My house just seems messy again and I realize it's time to do a declutter session. My kids have grown a lot since my initial huge purge and without me noticing, we have different things cluttering up our space than before lol. It happens and I think especially when we do get extra busy. This video was timely and as usual you have a way of making me feel ok about letting go of things, which I greatly appreciate. My husband comes from a long line of "tidy hoarders" and he is never on board with getting rid of stuff, BUT I can at least control myself and my kids' inventory. All his mess can stay in his shop 😂. Have a blessed week and thank you! Just watching your video inspired me to go round two on a big declutter. Thanks!
Love this video, thank you. You are keeping my inspiration going and reminding me to take action. Love the idea of a life having seasons, - a great way of looking at it. Thank you Dawn x😊
Wonderful Dawn! My Season of Life has absolutely changed, but my brain wants to remain young, I can do it all, and so forth. This has been exceedingly beneficial to our household as our season is....more "mature" lol. Thanks for all your wonderful and helpful hints.
Great reminders! Since following you about a year ago, we have successfully gotten rid of I’d say 75 to 80% of our stuff. I feel like I’m much better mother and wife, and I finally have time to Enjoy my life. I can enjoy my time with my family and I can also enjoy alone time because I’m not constantly thinking about cleaning. Thank you for the great video!
Even if i could handle much more stuff why should I ? Less inventory means more time for doing nice things instead of cleaning and organizing 😊. Less feels so good!
I started a big junk room clean out a couple months ago. I pulled everything out of the room and it has sat in my living room and dining room since then. Clutter is depressing! I have been listening to you to get the motivation to tackle these mountains. I finally made a start yesterday. Thank you for your encouragement! I am looking forward to developing a low invetory lifestyle.
No wonder I found minimalism when my twins were babies! Definitely cognitive overload! I love the easy way you explain things especially since I'm a kindergarten teacher. Love from MN!
Finally gave up on some craft items that I'll likely never get to. That t-shirt quilt from college shirts, other random things from cool fabric i found, etc. Feels great not to just open up space but also take those items off the to-do list!
I've actually started making an inventory of all my things, you suddenly realise how many multiples of things you have! This video was exactly what I was looking for, fantastic reasons why it'll be worth doing! Thank you 🙏
Yes, to everything you said. We do a combo of inventory by numbers or by the space/container. Instead of “5” play shirts, we may determine how many comfortably fit and can be kept easily organized in that specific drawer.
You literally CHANGED my life Dawn. The moment I watched your video about CHANGING MINDSET, that was where the MAGIC in my LIFE started. Thank you Dawn, I love you I hope you reach EVERYONE specially moms like me who needs truly LIFE-CHANGING ideas to become BETTER. I always feel your HEART everytime you talk it always seems YOU SEE US and YOU FEEL US. YOU ARE INDEED A BLESSING TO US ALL... THANK YOU! ❤❤❤
Wow! Dawn. I knew you were a gift from God, but today you spoke directly to me. I've been following you for 2 years, implementing your methods, and my life has become easier. In Feb. I was diagnosed with diabetes, and you hit that nail right on the head. It's always on your mind, and because the inventory in the house is less, and it's easier to clean, and less stressful, I've been able to maintain, and focus on improving my situation. THANK YOU! I love you, and hope you have a great day! :)
Your wisdom has helped me reduce my inventory and re-discover the time and energy to enjoy sewing for charity, and gardening, but still waiting to enjoy cooking again ! I’m so grateful Dawn.
I got eid of my scrapbooking stuff a while ago after carrying it around for years of not using it. I found that I made the correct decision bc now I have new different hobbies than I had before.
Yes! This has been a game changer! I love that you say everything is inventory & do you want to "manage this?" Most of the time i tell myself no! I do not want to manage it! I have gotten rid of SO MUCH! Great advice! ❤
Dawn, your videos are indeed life changing. Just keep repeating that the inventory must be kept to a minimal, because it must. I have now reached the stage where decluttering and making every space in my home look beautiful has actually become a hobby for me. It is so exciting to see the difference that even 5 minutes work can make.
This makes so much sense for me now. Ive known I have too much stuff and with 5 kids under 6yrs, its been a LONG road of getting to this point of understanding my issues and trying to get rid of too much stuff. But it makes more sense why I mentally cant handle things the way I want to. Ive just made my kitchen 80% better and its so nice cleaning it up in 5-10 minutes now that theres only a coffee pot on the counters. Thank you for your perspectives and tips❤
Thank you for your well thought out and well researched videos! Would you consider doing a capsule meal plan video? Everyone talks about capsule wardrobes but I have trouble finding info about capsule meal plans. Thanks!
I agree completely with your survey and the concept of inventory has made biggest change in my thought process. While watching a video some time back, I heard you refer to your stuff you were decluttering as inventory and I thought on my gosh, inventory, yes! It depersonalizes your stuff so it is easier to part with it, I think. It is no longer “your stuff”, but just inventory. Brilliant. It has made a huge difference in how I see what I have and made it easier to let it go. Thank you for that.
So right you are Dawn; inventory control is a cornerstone of feeling able to care for oneself and one’s home. I have used inventory control as a form of long term Swedish death cleaning to untether myself from the past and greater enjoy daily living. A very useful post. Thank you for your thoughtful content.
My favorite concept is the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. We don’t get truly fulfilled or move forward if we’re always in the bottom rungs looking for and accruing more crap and security.
This is so true- I have several very serious illness that are life threatening. I take upwards of 15 medicines each morning and just a few shy of that at night. My oldest son died last April unexpectedly he and I had a very close relationship and to say its been hard is all I can really say. After his death my husband and I had to make all kinds of changes to life insurance ,retirement and several other things. It was about this time that I started looking at minimalism. Something that I had never really heard of in the past. I have never been a hoarder, but simply like alot of different things, At one time I had been thru the collecting of tea sets, then tea cups, then anything miniature , then baskets, not to mention all the sports things my son's got from all their sporting days. well you get the picture. I also loved diy projects, craft projects and so on and on. I have been deciding what crafts I have time foor and which ones I don't have time for. I have given my youngest son and his wife alot of his pictures, and a few pieces of old school work, or cards he created for me, school and sports stuff as well. My husband and I have put pots and pans and some dishes in a time will tell bin. I did a massive closet overhaul . I am on a day to day mission of looking at pieces and making decisions to keep or donate. My whole wardrobe has changed from a working outside the home, to a not working outside the home, to a moving to a tourist town at the beach in the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama. Thanks Dawn for helping me through the months following my son's death. And working towards a new me who is learning to take back my house and really think of life in different seasons. What might work in one season, won't work in another season.
Inventory & the container method & debt free journey w Dave Ramsey… focusing on those 3 ideas have been the trifecta of successful progress across the board with home and finances. Also - love body doubling videos!!
Dawn, Great video. I've really been thinking about this a lot lately & I talked to my Hubby about setting down & writing down every food item we have in our house & starting meal planning. 😊
I don’t know what it was but this video made me go on a rampage in my house and through every cabinet in my kitchen and just got rid of the extra the extra bowls, the extra utensils, the extra spatulas. Again, I don’t know what it was but thank you for continuously giving us great content.
I used to work in retail and using inventory in my home makes since to me, I am loving less Arround the home and am working on the hidden areas that I forget about.closets, drawers oh and my garage is next🤦.Thanks Dawn.
Dawn I want to thank you so much for your videos. I have only been watching for a week and already got rid of 8 bin bags, 4 big bags of paper and 1 1/2 bags of clothes (more to come). I have mental health issues and my house being cluttered has appeared to affect my cognitive load and definitely my memory so here's hoping that getting rid of all this STUFF is going to help. By doing this little bit of decluttering so far, I have found I feel much better and have found I want to get up and clear even more clutter when last week (before finding your videos) I just felt like I couldn't find the motivation to do anything at all and felt I had an elephant sitting on me when I needed the get up to do just a drink. Thank goodness I found your videos, you are amazing 😍 x
Dawn, I love your family ❤️ I have 3 boys and I’m 8 months pregnant with baby #4 (the oldest is 4) I found you when I was pregnant with my third baby and I will NEVER go back. We are on the 3rd round of decluttering (I didn’t even know at the time that this was called “the onion method”) thanks for all you do. You saved me.
My goal for Thursday was to sort through my shoes and reduce the number I have using your rules such as do they "really fit"? When was the last time I wore them? Do they make me smile? I struggled a bit with but they are so cute! Realized that if cute doesn't fit, I'm not going to wear them. I filled a box with around 15 pair of shoes many that I simply avoided wearing because I really wasn't comfortable in them. I cannot explain why I kept them so long! So nice to have them gone! Thank you so much for sharing what you've learned with all of us!
Loved everything you said. You just made me realize that caring for our elderly dog is taking a toll on my emotional energy. I'm home more because of him, and that has given me time to declutter in short spurts.
YES!!! My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes one week before we moved over seas away from my parents. It has been a whirlwind even after 9 months away. I need change. This is going to help me so much.
Thank you Dawn for all your insight and inspiration. And I want to thank ALL the other people that leave comments as they also give me inspiration to carry on. It's comforting to know that I am not alone in this journey. We all have our challenges and we, through these messages are in it together.❤❤❤
I like this. Dana from A Slob Comes Clean calls it "clutter threshold". I'm slowly working my way through our apartment. My husband and I share a 3 bed apartment with 2 other adults and I realised how stressed I was trying to keep on top of the mess while working full time. Something else that's helped me is my husband and I are hoping to get our own place in the next 1 to 2 years and something that helps me to rid of things is asking myself "do I want to have to move this?" If I don't I start to think about how to get rid of things. I've sold, freecycled and donated more items than I would have thought at the beginning.
I love this video and you Dawn❤️ I do find I am stressed and more anxious when there is clutter. I have done a lot of decluttering since finding your channel. I am currently decluttering my recipe book cabinet. I put it off, because I love recipe books and cooking. I have more to go on that. Because I have decluttered and simplified so many other areas I have the bandwidth to do this. I thank you so much Dawn for all of your help❤️
I don’t collect recipe books, but I recently sorted through my recipe book, my loose recipes, my mom’s recipes, and the recipes and books belonging to my grandma and great aunts. I got everything whittled down to my recipe book (with some of their recipes added), which I created new dividers and tabs for, and just a couple of sentimental cookbooks.
Celiac Disease is also something that seems to also require an awareness of what we are consuming. I had never thought of that contributing to my cognitive load.
Thank you so much for watching!!! You can find the playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLZ-AWUEixtg3S3V563w8gYFsxyvUd8p1R I hope you have a great day!!! - Dawn
I like the quote " They call it a store for a reason "
Mind blown 🤯
👍🏻
The fact that each of these videos are exactly 10 minutes long is very satisfying 🙆🏻♀️
Thank you for noticing, I really can't wait until there is a playlist of ten videos that are all exactly 10:00 minutes each, lol....it's the little things in life! ;)
It works for me and very well. Thank you.

I feel the same way about books. I store them all at my local library.
AMEN TO THIS!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yup. I only have my son’s kids books and that’s it! Feels great!
Inventory, 5 minutes matter and the silent ToDo list are all concepts I have learned from you Dawn. They have been life changing.

Yes, me too! 40 years. So much daily anxiety in spite of the pump and dexcom.
Dawn, your managing inventory revelation was to me what Joshua Becker's neighbor saying, "Did you know you don't have to have all this stuff" was to him.

Yeeessssss 🙂
I'm overencumbered! I can't move! 😂

@@tgayer1 he was fine with it. He went into his room and played with what was there!
I have type 1 diabetes, so true. I call diabetes my 5th kid and I only have 4 kids.

Handling, handling, handling,& handling! Too much time handling inventory! Great Job! Thanks for the Reminder!

I like how you took Dana's "clutter threshold" concept and broke it down into parts and explained it really well ❤
You have truly impacted my life and the lives of all in my family. It’s been such a journey but I so enjoy your videos. This world teaches us that the more we have the happier we are and I’ve found that couldn’t be further from the truth. Thank you for your videos and inspiration.
I love the idea of inventory because it creates a kind of detachment between me and my things, it makes decluttering less emotional.
Your loving attitude had a healing impact on my stressed self today! Thank you for your kindness!
These videos are fantastic. Clearly a lot of thought and care put into the structure and delivery of the information. I love this playlist. Have been a minimalist for years, but there is still new info in these videos for me and good reminder. I appreciate you!
I call it "decision fatigue" and it truly exists! But you don't realize it until you get rid of the excess!
Yes!! I tell others about inventory now too! Life changing for me.

*nods* I am definitely trying to manage WAY too much inventory.
thank you for this. 😊👍

I'm sorry but I have to say your HAIR IS GORGEOUS!! 🤗The color and cut are my goals! Also heck yes about inventory too 😏
Great reminders!
WISDOM...is found in this clip
I started a big junk room clean out a couple months ago. I pulled everything out of the room and it has sat in my living room and dining room since then. Clutter is depressing! I have been listening to you to get the motivation to tackle these mountains. I finally made a start yesterday. Thank you for your encouragement! I am looking forward to developing a low invetory lifestyle.
No wonder I found minimalism when my twins were babies! Definitely cognitive overload! I love the easy way you explain things especially since I'm a kindergarten teacher. Love from MN!
Dawn you can talk about potatoes and we will very happy to hear you. You are so lovely. Thank you for all your knowledge. Greetings from México!!
Finally gave up on some craft items that I'll likely never get to. That t-shirt quilt from college shirts, other random things from cool fabric i found, etc. Feels great not to just open up space but also take those items off the to-do list!
I am moving in eight months! Hoping this video helps me get started packing and most important keeping the stuff packed!
Thank you, Dawn!! So glad I found you! Now, it’s time to get started on a house full of clutter! ❤
We recently did our 6 month reorganize/ clean our entire house. What a great feeling!
I've actually started making an inventory of all my things, you suddenly realise how many multiples of things you have!
This video was exactly what I was looking for, fantastic reasons why it'll be worth doing! Thank you 🙏
Yes! 🙌 Too much inventory in our own homes. We enjoyed the video!
Yes, to everything you said. We do a combo of inventory by numbers or by the space/container. Instead of “5” play shirts, we may determine how many comfortably fit and can be kept easily organized in that specific drawer.
Dawn, you are so smart!! I think about the inventory idea all the time…
By far the best channel to learn about minimalism 🙏🏼….. Thankyou
THANK YOU! ❤❤❤
Inventory and if it's not a definite yes it's a no. Have been two of the greatest things that have helped me declutter my home.
Yes , Dawn ! I live how you have made me aware of Inventory. And Bandwidth, too!!
Great idea, lowering our home inventory! Thank you for sharing this concept! 😊
Brilliant reminder, thank you! I'm loving the "back to basics" videos too 💗👏
Got one garbage bag full of clothes done! It's a start! Thank you!!!
Wow! :)
My problem is photos, I have lots on my phone and can never find time to make albums. Can you make a video on this pls.
Thank YOUS! You've helped me immensely, shifting my perspectives❤🤗❤
Your wisdom has helped me reduce my inventory and re-discover the time and energy to enjoy sewing for charity, and gardening, but still waiting to enjoy cooking again ! I’m so grateful Dawn.
Love this series! Especially since each episode covers just one issue. 😊
I loved this video Dawn. You have helped me so much and I will continue watching you. I love you and your sweet Family.❤❤❤
Im not kidding. One time Dawn mentioned inventory....I never really thought about this!!!! I realized I had too much inventory!!!!!!!
Love this video so much! Thank you for the science behind why I feel better in an organized space and why mess makes me feel messy and disorganized!
Inventory was definitely my ah-ha moment… followed by relief and then ACTION!!!!
Agree. And to that list, I would add intermittent fasting for personal health. It has been a game changer.
Dawn, Great video. I've really been thinking about this a lot lately & I talked to my Hubby about setting down & writing down every food item we have in our house & starting meal planning. 😊
YES TO ALL THE THINGS!!! Working on it! I will watch a video and then go to something. Thanks for the motivation!
Good morning Dawn and everyone ♥ thanks for this video. Your concept of managing inventory has been so helpful!
Oh my. I can totally recall when I first heard of this concept from you!
Thank goodness I found your videos, you are amazing 😍 x
you're doing GREAT -- wow!
Dawn,
I love your family ❤️ I have 3 boys and I’m 8 months pregnant with baby #4 (the oldest is 4) I found you when I was pregnant with my third baby and I will NEVER go back. We are on the 3rd round of decluttering (I didn’t even know at the time that this was called “the onion method”) thanks for all you do. You saved me.
Yes! The idea of INVENTORY has altered the way we think about the content of our homes! ❤❤❤
These back to basic videos are great! I've been really enjoying the refresher and reminders. You are amazing at what you do.
My husband helped our 12 year old sons bedroom today and it looks great! He parted with so much stuff!
I love this. Thank you Dawn 🎉
I'm with you on this, except for tabletop. We don't eat out except when we're on vacation, so it's nice to have a variety of dishes and flatware.
I got everything whittled down to my recipe book (with some of their recipes added), which I created new dividers and tabs for, and just a couple of sentimental cookbooks.
dad checking in, very helpful and relatable video
Celiac Disease is also something that seems to also require an awareness of what we are consuming. I had never thought of that contributing to my cognitive load.
