A quality beard barber will consult with you before the trim and take notes and ask questions about what you want to end up with. It took 5 barbers before I found one that I felt comfortable with.
You're lucky. I thought I had found one until I asked him to just go over my beard to get the loose ends and he ended up trimming down. Haven't been able to get that same girth back in my beard since.
It's a few times my barber picked my dry beard thinking I wanted him to trim and edge me up. 😭. I had to tell him to hold up and I'll do it myself at home
Went to the barber for the first time after growing out my beard for the first time. I told her not to touch the bottom of my beard and leave it long. Before I knew it she zipped it half off. Pissed me off
Yeah fam it happens the hardest part is the fact that it can take a lot of patience and dedication to grow it and it can be ruined in a second. The good thing is you know what works for you and you know you can grow it back! Stay dedicated you will be back in no time!! Stay successful fam🙏🏾👊🏾
The textured/curly hair can get tricky. The jaw and neck area alone needs a 5-6 months head start of growth to get the big beard look. Mine been see through and I had to start the journey over again. I knew I was messing up somewhere. Thanks for articulating and providing these pointers.
I’ve never left a YT comment but trying times are upon me. I have committed an act of sin. Tried a new barber and suffered great consequences. Instructed the beardless person on my desired outcome. Received the beardless persons desired outcome. 6 inches of sacred string was removed because of his efforts. The beardless person is in lack of nothing except decency, a wooled face, and I have should have been informed by that observation. I’ve failed. Regret fills my cup. A generous breeze no longer carries my god given extension. My daughter weeps at at my appearance. My canine stares in confusion. 2 years of discipline erased in a fleeting moment. The beardless person showed no remorse while I was forced to exercise restraint. Needless to say, I am left with uneven remains and will spend my future evenings shadowboxing. Thanks for the video. Just subscribed.

Barbers are like shooting 🎲 dice. You don't know when you may crap out. Free game fellas . A female barber if you find one will pay more attention to detail 💯
This is why whenever I go to the barbershop I tell my barber don’t touch my beard, I let him line up my mustache & fade me but leave my beard untouched.
Makes sense 👊🏽 thank you! I’m 16 months into my 1st beard & haven’t trimmed at all. It’s so curly I can pat it into place and keep density. Got the Yeard & now I’m going for the Tweard. Bearding really is a marathon 🏃♂️
Great video as always X! Communication is definitely key with a barber, although no two beards are alike the best thing I did was show my barber a pic of how I wanted mine to look.
X Great video. I went to barbershop twice in the past 3 months. All I'm gonna say is I wasn't happy. I like the fullness of your beard and that's what I'm working towards. Thanks for the info.
If you're going to pull up to the barber shop with a full head of hair on the bottom of your face you just need to figure out how to handle that on your own at home and stop stressing hardworking people out.
Thanks fam!! You found the 🔑 that’s what’s up! A barber that takes his time and is razor sharp can make the whole journey a lot easier! Stay successful bro👊🏾
You have a killer beard! The shape is great, you’re doing a great job. I gotta figure out how to do a real nice line up like that. A lot of good info in this video.
Went to my barber and asked just to clean up my beard and mustache. I told him not to trim mustache and beard were leaving it not taking anything off.just shape the outsides you know everything went fine got home and ny left side of mustache fine right side took a chunk it looks bad. Right now I'm using black eyelash to blend in witch looks great Tull it grows back.
It's common sense, if you want to grow a long beard quicker. Stop trimming! When you cut something it reduces the length which is opposite of increasing the length. And there is nothing wrong with a sparse beard.
Thanks for checking out the video and for the feedback and there is definitely nothing wrong with a sparse beard it’s a part of the journey for a lot of us! It took my beard about 2 solid years to get full. Much luv and success 👊🏾
I'd never trust a barber, I barely trust myself. I just trim the bottom so no need for angles, my fear of screwing up is the only reason I allow myself to do it. This is a pretty big channel shocked I just found it.
i told him to lower the sides and to leave the chin area how it was just cleaned up a bit . bro ended up cutting the chin area same length as sides (2mm) 🤦♂️
Your face is a canvas to barbers. Unfortunately, I chose to let go of my barber that I had for years. I made a appointment, booked on his app, texted him & hit him on his social media page for low bald fade, trim, lineup low mustache, (No beard trim, cut or lineup). He did my fade, mustache & I felt him cutting & trimming my beard on the side (After I told him not to), he reassured that he got me & my beard would look better. It was too late, I'm sitting there angry & silent inside, when he was done, he gave me the mirror & I liked it & was disappointed. I really didn't truly like it, I didn't want him to touch my beard at all, I allowed it & let him trick me into liking it & going against what I wanted for myself. I walked away to never return to him, I now cut, trim & lineup my own beard. I let myself be tricked, he went against my wishes. So instead of going to the left, I decided to cut ties with him because of principles.
I feel you that’s one of the main problems with the disconnect some barbers have an idea of how they think you should look and not how you want to look! Great barbers always listen to their customers they give good advice and suggestions but ultimately give the customer what they want! Much success on your journey fam!!👊🏾
Damn I felt this. I may have to do the same. My barber is a cool dude and I been going to him for a while but I gave him too many chances and he has went against my beard wishes several times in the last three years. He can do a killer skin fade with my waves on top which is the real reason I go, but always fails to be consistent with my beard smh. He has done beard fades on his own without asking, and pushed my beard cheek line down extremely low after I purposely wolfed out for months just to grow it back smh. I never was a fan of self cutting but this may be my only option if I truly want to max out on my beard potential
Mate he had it pretty sorted then leant me back and took off about 2 years of growth. He was s sound guy I still tipped him but it's rough. I didn't cry I'm pissed. I think he's young not bad but he took off too much while I'm looking at the ceiling. I told him I wanted my length and he kept it till he leant me back
The sad thing is you can be detailed as hell explaining what you want and barbers still won’t listen and even if they do listen it seems like every beard line will look different I guess because they have so many clients and just get in their own groove and end up giving what you don’t want I think the key is do your own beard nobody can fully understand what you want I may just be a stickler idk
Ummm… yeah. Where I’m from, I’ve only run across one barber that can get into my beard where I’m from. Unfortunately he stays booked. I normally just do my own beard.
Barber cut the sides of my beard with a shaver basically hacked it off and it’s not even and i didn’t ask for that. I’m super pissed. Not sure what to do now.
I always see that barbers are doing well with beard trimming not to say there isn't but I went to one and with me having a long beard the baber ask me how did I get it that long so instead he ✂ it lowered than I had it so now I know that it has to be a great description of what I want but I think he wanted me to look like what he wanted
I have a request and a two part question for you ok first my request is for you to answer the two part question in your next video now for the question part one growing a beard from a goatee would you cut off the goatee and start everything even or let the rest catch up to the goatee part two if you decide to go with letting the rest catch up what would be your method of applying products with such a big difference in hair length ?
I think it’s more about the texture of the beard and it depends 3 things 1 the genetics of the particular person 2 the curlier the hair the harder it is to show length and 3 the curlier the hair the easier it is to get damaged which leads to breakage and a loss of length. A curly beard requires a lot of care and the right products to grow long
Happened to me today. Barber ruined my beard and cut to much off. Thank you for lifting me up!
