Woman who ran red light, hit boy in stroller in Phoenix crosswalk, arrested: police

- According to Phoenix Police, the boy was being pushed in a stroller by his grandfather in a crosswalk when a vehicle ran a red light and hit the child.
Firefighters responded to the scene and transported the boy to a hospital. The boy is in stable condition, but he did suffer a head injury, bleeding liver, and a broken pelvis.
According to court documents, after the crash, Ross called police early Monday morning to report that her vehicle had been stolen.
"After talking to officers she learned the baby was still alive and then admitted to being the driver involved," read a portion of the court documents.

He came over to our house to apologize to the whole family and my friends were like what are you going to do ? I said I was going to shake his hand and tell him it was just an accident and I really appreciate you coming to show respect to our family . It takes a lot of guts to face the music when you accidently put a handicapped girl in the hospital with broken bones .

Not to be an asshole (i have kids of my own), but never trust a green light or a crosswalk to tell you when its safe to cross, regardless you look both ways even if it tells you its safe. that goes for driving as well when a light turns green. I was taught this as a kid at a very young age(has probably saved my kids and my life at least 5 times). Thank god he is going to make it and safe now.
While I agree with this, people also need to stop running red lights. If everyone looked both ways and nobody ran red lights, we could all live a little easier. Nothing is so important that its worth hitting someone over.
And if they need to run the red light for whatever reason, they should at least move to as far left as possible. It takes more time for someone to get in front of you when you're near the middle of the road than close to the shoulder. So, unless you're running a red light very late, you'll avoid running someone over by doing it this way even some kid jumps out right away.

@@JJM-qf8dz true but its less risky in a parking lot since cars generally don't go very fast and easily stop before hitting someone. The biggest concern is larger vehicles backing up around children.
Even if this pedestrian looked both ways it didnt matter. Once you are in the middle of the street especially with a stroller, you are pretty much a sitting duck. A car can run you over faster than you can run across
