Please make an updated tutorial for sim update 15 and it would be great if you can map the beep trim settings on your collective. I just purchased the airbus H160 from high-performance group and would love to use the auto pilot but don’t have the key bindings for the deep trim settings on the collective.
I have the virpil vpc rotor and hawk 60 grip. Can not bind the twist throttle so power is either full or idle. this is not a major issue because as long as the collective itself works as it should then you can still fly. As you said the governor controls the actual engine power but I would still think that it should be able to work as intended. Hopefully with MSFS 24 coming out they will have this rectified. I have found no video on RUclips that shows anyone overcoming this issue.
I’m not going to bother trying to set it all up with MSFS2020. I’m going to wait until 24 comes out. When I seen the videos of 2024 it looked like within each aircraft you found the item you wanted to bind, the brakes for example, you highlight the box next to it then press a button on. “WHICHEVER” peripheral you want and it is recognised. Then you save it as a profile. If this is the case, assigning buttons and switches would be fantastically easy. Hope it’s like that. 👍
Thanks for your input the throttle was my concern . Binding it to the propeller axis was the missing puzzle . I now can do a cold start with the Flyinside Bell 406.
VR is amazing in helicopters. For some reason the Bell 407 throttle doesn’t work with the propeller axis bound. I can’t find anything other than mouse scroll wheel to move the throttle and it’s making flight very hard with my actual joystick and collective.
The throttle is with the Bell 407 is a known thing. I hope it's addressed in future updates. I primarily fly the G2 these days. I have tried VR, and I can certainly see the appeal!
Thank you. I'm using an X-56 HOTAS and I can assign the collective as teh throttle, however teh propeller axis doesn't register for helicopters for some reason on my hotas. It works fine for fixed wing aircraft like the King air, but I can't use it as a fully functioning collective. I guess I will have to go buy one to get that to work.
Nice one, maybe you could have just popped into your sensitivity's settings for a second, (for a look-see), I have been going back and forth with them for a minuet now. Thank you for your video, Cheers.
In this video, I think the sensitivities were all at zero. I am now starting to fine tune that, so currently I am trying -30 for all axes. I have dead zone at 2% and reactivity at 95%. Neutral and extremity dead zone are both at zero. It feels better, but I am still working on it.
Have you got anything on the Airbus Hype H135 using Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog joystick? The whole helicopter seems impossible to hover, but no problems hovering in the Cabri G2 and Bell-407..
I have never used the Warthog gear. It looks solid though. I am using a similar setup from a company called Winwing. They have an awesome collective attachment for their throttle base. I don't fly the Airbus helos as much because, to be honest, it's hard for me to bounce around from one flight model to another. I have finally gotten a tiny bit of skill with the Cabri and have been really having some fun with it.
Fantastic video! You went slow and I got all of it. One question - You are correct that it is difficult to bind the "twist" throttle, especially if I am using the Xbox controller. Where is the Auto-throttle? How can I turn it on for the two new Helicopters? Thank you in advance.😀
I don’t know where the auto throttle is on the Bell 407. On the Cabri G2 it’s on the end of the collective and hard to see. The best way to find it is to activate the checklist and click on the eye icon. It will be highlighted in blue. I just have it bound it a switch on my controller.
@@IvanSkyFlight Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I will try. One more question and I am sorry but I do not have the Flight Sim ON right now and I am new to all this. Can I use the Auto-Throttle binding that the airplanes have to do the same in the Helicopters?
Not sure about the Bell 47G and HPG145 (non native flight model), but the new helicopters apparently have trim. If you go to "controls options" and set filter to "all", do a search for "trim" and scroll down a bit. There you see "increase rotor longitudinal trim" along with the others. I am assuming that you would assign to those inputs to your controls. Given how these things are fly, I would assume trim controls would need to be bound to the hat on a joystick to be useful. Have said that, I have not tried helicopter trim. Still working on the basics!
Great video. I may be doing something wrong but I did the prop axis for the Bell 407 but it does not twist/turn. I even put it out of idle but when I do my key binds, nothing happens. Any suggestions?
The collective changes the angle of all the main rotor blades at the same time. Basically when the collective is all the way down the blades are flat. They angle up in a twist motion as the collective come up. This increases lift to a point and the helicopter starts to ascend. The cyclic (joystick in middle) only changes the angle of one of the blades and cause the helicopter to tilt and then move in a given direction.
@@Aeronotti I don't believe so (but I could be wrong). I think it essentially changes the angle of attack on one of the blades in certain position which changes the thrust vector.
How do you setup the trim bindings for non-native helis? The trim bindings for the native ones seem to work fine. In the G2 for me, when I move the collective slider (on my Thrustmaster t.16000), only the throttle sleeve on the collective works, the collective arm does not move up and down. This is using the default definition for the T.16000 for helis.
If you mean flight model, both the Bell 407 and the Cabri G2 use the new MSFS flight model for helicopters. The Bell 47G and HPG 145 each use their own built in proprietary flight model.
Have you tried going into the controls options and seeing what functions buttons show up? It should show up on the list of controllers if it's plugged in. I am not familiar with the MSP so I don't know what combination of buttons and axes it has.
Somebody else said setting the trim on the cockpit joystick makes a big difference as well. Not sure but they said top trim at -17.5 and bottom trim button on -24.5. Im about to go find out....sigh
Hey there Ivan. Non Native Cntrl set up for MSFS. I got a Warthog throttle base and when I try to add one of the sticks to propeller it says that this has already been set in motion else where. I dont have a collective next to me. Any ideas for me? I did add the collective to the sticks on my Warthog throttle base, so then the two sticks are already taken. I am contemplating on getting a collective for my set up which is small, but it works. So then I got a collective and can add the propellers to the Warthog T-Base. Flight sims with gear is sometimes not fun. I might get the VPC SharKa-50 Collective Grip with a twist. There are two collectives I am looking at right now...Oooh where is the fun..........................................
You may have multiple external devices trying to control the same thing. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes both external controllers will updated their input data at the same time which causes a conflict. I would go into your controls options and try to find this out. It could also be a single controller with two different axes trying to control the same parameter. This is easier to figure out because when you see the parameter on a given controller it will show which buttons, axes are trying to control it. One technique would be to unplug every controller but one and troubleshoot it like that. Let me know if that doesn't work.
Hello, I have an old hotas x: in cabri g2 it's possible to avoid fatigue and push forward or backward the joistick, to set the trim longitudinal increase/decrease setup. How to do that with the bell47g configuration? It seems doesn't work for bell47.
Alas, you are not the first to point that out. I guess it's because I don't use trim while flying these small helicopters and rarely fly the larger ones.
Depends on the helicopter. For the Bell 47G, you have to open their options menu which is a switch on the bottom of the column that has all of the gauges. That give the option to turn it on. I don't think the Bell 47G has auto throttle in real life, but I could be wrong. For the Cabri G2 it's on the very end of the collective and hard to find. If you use the checklist, find the auto throttle item and click on the little "eye" it will take you right to it. You can also bind the auto throttle command to a joystick or keyboard button for the G2. I don't know where or how to activate/deactivate auto throttle on the HPG 145 or the Bell 407.

So the arm going up and down is called a collective, but here he uses physical collective stick and assigned that the throttle? On the collective is a throttle, so how to control it with a keypad? If you use the mouse , you can increase the throttle on the collective stick, while trying to fly. It seems dumb to point a mouse at the collective when the keys could do the same thing. I'm pretty sure X-plane 11 and DCS world is better with this, but that's another story..

This seems to be a know issue. Apparently there is some type of work around but it's very ineffective because even the workaround doesn't fully model the correct behavior like the G2 does. I feel like the 407 isn't as complete as the G2. I have only flown it a few times.
Did have the problem where the helicopter is completely unstable? If so there may be a fix. This happened to me, and I applied the fix in the description of the video in the following link: ruclips.net/video/7pk7mLdXY6g/видео.html
