Sugar Smacks Commercial
This is really neat. A cereal commercial featuring Superman (Clark Kent) from Adventures of Superman from the 1950s.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventu...
Casey Kasem also makes an appearance as the clown character at the end.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_K...
VO5 Hair Spray commercial
A commercial for hair spray featuring a teenage girl.
Budweiser commercial
A relaxing commercial featuring an attractive woman on a beach with music. She of course drinks Budweiser.
Sunbeam Bread Commercial
A commercial for bread. Not sure whatever happened to this brand.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunbeam...
E-Z Pop Popcorn commercial
A commercial featuring cool cat background music. Who would have ever thought that a popcorn commercial could be so jammin'?
Paper Mate Pen Commercial
A commercial featuring animated pig characters advertising paper mate pens. Mel Blanc can be heard as one of the pig characters.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_Mate
Scottie Tissue Commercial
A boring commercial featuring scottie tissues. There's not much you can do to make these things exciting, I guess. This must have been the first time they promoted the "magic oval" feature. Something that is probably on all brands now.
Milk-bone Dog Biscuits Commercial
A commercial featuring dog snacks called milk-bone dog biscuits.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk-Bone - Кино
Why do these vintage commercials make you feel so good?
Because the pace of them is so slow. Indicative of a less pressurized society.
David Humphries that’s a pretty good analysis there, guy.
You’re like me.... old
Because they represent a better time for America.
I agree I think it just represents a simpler times so it makes you feel good inside
I like how creative each commercial is, which is what modern ones lack
commercials today are boring tbh
Lol I saw this one modern commercial the other day and I wheezed it was hilarious
What do you mean them old spice commercials are super creative
@@kaydencehart5055 LOL is overused Do you even know what it MEANS? LOL LOL LOL LAWL lawl...
Charlotte Chambre lol lol lol lol lol it means i’m puking my guts out
I just love watching these old commercials always makes me smile
I love old 50,s commercials , it's better than today's crappy commercials ! 👍😀
John Roberts EZ pop commercial is pretty catchy
@@1zDiegoz1 yeah it is friend ! 👍😃
John Roberts
Ikr that's why I'm always on RUclips watching them.
@@theMiraculousAngelic Yep that's right ! 😁😇👍
John Roberts
😊
That EZ Pop commercial has some serious bars ngl
It’s funny how they make these products so interesting with the commercials. Like with the pen, they made it seem so revolutionary which it probably was back then when today it wouldn’t be seen as a big deal.
Not to mention it cost almost two dollars, which seems like a rip off for the time, but back then it was patriototic to buy worthless overpriced crap that probably made you sick.
And for $1.50! I won't buy a pen for that these days!
The over explain even the most trivial and simple products. They take their time to really indoctrinate you to their brand.
That was top of the line futuristic back then ! I know , I remember when it came out ! Its all anyone talked about !!!!
"revolutionary.. which it probably was back then".
No 'probably' - it WAS a new thing.
Rapping in the 50's
60s
Beatniks were doing it long before black "rap" was a thing.
I used to use my sister's VO5 hair spray as an all-purpose glue. Thank you Vy-tral-D!
LOL
Those VO5 commercials are actually from 1963-64...especially since the shampoo is in a plastic bottle.
Did you ever experience lightning-induced hallucinations while using it?
That is the opposite of gorilla glue girl
Very funny. Touche.
Old commercials are the coolest (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
look at how classy that budweiser commercial is compared to the ones today lol.
Weird seeing beer being dranked from those types of glasses
@@rickyrosay33977 "dranked?" lol
It seems many of these products are beyond trivial today, but for the time I expect they would have been exceptional
These commercials are better than RUclips ads
These commercials are so much better than the crap today. Half of the time I don't even know what they're selling.
Popcorn invented rap, it's confirmed
Beatniks, far out man... way before rap. You dig it?
Beatniks lingo.far out man. can you dig it?
Actually interesting commercials that aren’t stupid and annoying
I buy DVDs of them and they often bring tears.
I guarantee you today that clown on the cereal box from the '50s would be absolutely terrifying.
🤣🤣🤣 No, he wouldn't!
Insane Clown Posse O's
I don't like clowns they all give me the creeps🤡🦴💀
I hate most new commercials, but you gotta love these.
I don't like beer. but that Budweiser ad almost convinced me to try a can LOL
Marcus Easton They used the audio of that as a radio commercial between 1958-1959.
Looked bigger too
I like the part where they open a can of Bud with what we used to call a " church key " - steel can, open both sides of the can. My parents owned a tavern from 1958 - 1963, I remember those days, good times. ...
Yeah, right? I thought the same too.
Speak for yourself, Budweiser is my go-to cheap beer. Lol
I remember this pen in high school😊
Rapping popcorn in the 50s wow w.t.f.
That was beatnik cool, Daddio.
Sugar Smacks is now called Smacks.
In the '90s they were called honey smacks and the mascot was a frog named digg'ems.
You don't dare use the word "sugar" in a kid's product any more.
@@1950Grendel My reaction _exactly!_
@@1950Grendel Sugar Corn Pops are now Corn Pops.
Chris Brown loves them, Rihanna not so much apparently
I fricken' love sugar smacks.
My favorite was EZ Pop Popcorn.
Also, 70 years later, I am binge watching 50s’ clips and ours suck compared to this
I haven't watched commercial TV in years!
The 50s - “no extra tissues tagging along”
2020 - completely ignores that
Seems like everyone got health conscious since then. Miss my Sugar Smacks.
They’re just called Smacks now, they still exist:)
You miss simple minded sugar cereal? What a closed life you've lived.
No tearing scotties magic hole....
the fact that they were rapping before it became a thing and they didn't even know it
The beatniks were doing that long before blacks.
When a ad pops up:IM TRyING TO WATCh ADS
When you skip:these ads a cool
1950's hairspray = basically flame thrower in can
I'm sorry, but that clown on the Sugar Smacks box is terrifying
You kinda missed the boat on that clown thing snowflake, this ad was filmed when people were less sensitive and not following other people and needing someone else to tell them what is terrifying or not! Some advice to you, learn to be your own leader and stop being a follower,I mean come on this is a picture of a happy clown not some crime scene photo of a butchered body. Quit being a tag along and be yourself cupcake.
@@mikethuman9456 PC Culture has ruined everything ☹️
I agree. I want to travel to a time where political correctness didn't exist.
Mike Thuman don’t think it’s that heavy man 😂 people still found things creepy in the 50’s
Oh God clowns, I've been a bit scared of them ever since I was a kid in the 80s, when a clown at the circus said all the boys and girls look lovely.... especially you-and he pointed at me, and I felt weird, he said it in a creepy way. I don't think it's always a modern snowflake thing, as I had it in the 80s.
Needed a can opener for your brewskies!
Yep we had an opener mounted on the kitchen counter just for pop and beer!
Yeah I remember, we called it a church key.
Omg..
"Alberto heard you"!!!😉😉🤣
why does dude in the first one shoulders look so broad
'Cause that dude was Steve Reeves of the Superman ensemble who along with Chief and Jimmy ate his Sugar Snaps every morning.
@fat cabbage whatever.
It's funny, but to me it was _obvious_ that was Superman; but I also realize, if you're younger, you wouldn't ever have seen these shows!
That was back when Superman unashamedly worked for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" ... waving flag in the background and all.
Back before Hollywood went all left.
@@josephgaviota Hollywood has always been all left...
He thicc
I think the wonder of these ads is that they display pleasant situations and the narrator hits a kind of tone that makes you believe that the product is really America's finest. You're safe, you don't have to stress about which brand to choose for your family because life will be easy if you buy that particular cereal/baby food/canned food they show.
I watch/listen to these adverts sometimes as relaxation.
I'm surprised there was no commercials of doctor's advertising cigarettes.
Yes indeed there is one, the dr smoking up a storm
Skips commercials just to watch commercials
I'd love to see some of these make a come back... Like the ezpop one
You may be able to find a contemporary brand of the same thing in your local store. Its called Jiffy Pop.
The Alberto VO5, Budweiser, and Scotties commercials are from the 1960s, not the ‘50s.
Logan Harden Me too lol.
I thought the girls hair was very 60s!
The popcorn commercial is very interesting. 😂🍿
My grandma was almost the mascot for sunbeam bread.
Mine too
Well, I have to admit that I remember most of these.
Nice to see Pennywise on a box of kid's cereal LOL.
The milk bone commercial was cute!
My dog loves those treats
Very east coast, I bet. I am 73. We did not have most of those commercials in the midwest market.
I think like nearly every brand of tissue has an oval hole in the box. Did they rip of scottie's? I don't know
I don't remember many boxes opening that easy tho. They usually ripped!
What a fun video. Thanks for sharing!
The audio quality and transatlantic accent makes my ears happy
Everyone looked so elegant
I know I agree on Kellog Sugar Smacks. Dee-licious!
royster Futrell They always tasted like coffee to me.
That's Mel Blanc saying "piggyback".
It's sounds a lot like Bugs Bunny which explains why 😂😂
I THOUGHT I recognized the voice!
Who remembers the Easy Pop Popcorn system? That brought back some memories! #1970s
Ha! You privileged 1970's whipper-snappers don't know how hard we 50's kids had it. After trudging hours through snow banks coming home from school while being chased by wild wolves, we used to eat lead-laced chipped paint and follow it with a muddy water chaser straight out of the gutter. And we loved it!
@@ChatGPT1111 Okay, Dana!
@@kennethwayne6857 well isn't that special....wouldn't be prudent!
@@ChatGPT1111 I'm not worthy of this!

No entiendo nada pero me encantan los comerciales antiguos.
yo quiero taco bell
My dogs love Milkbone dog biscuits!
Mine too
5:11 That’s a pretty expensive pen for back then!!
$21.45 adjusted for inflation for 1 pen I used to work at office depot $21 dollars is what a 4 pack of fancy calligraphy pens cost today
That Sugar Smacks clown is creepy AF.
Isn't he???🤡
65 years ago people didn't scare as easily.
@@kerriwilson7732 They prob would've been scared if they saw the surreal memes.
No, the clown is not scary. You've been brainwashed by Hollywood horror movies.
No, the clown isn't scarey. Please grow up and stop saying what you have been brainwashed into barfing out at every turn.
Sounds like Thurl Ravenscroft in the E-Z POP commercial.
I love the good old days when they were entertaining, today's are depressing, Cremation ED,
That Budweiser song was so chill
A lot of these were quite good 👍
I want to buy all this stuff and road test it with todays products
They'll be no doubt better than today's products if only there's a time machine
It's a good thing he put the titles in between so we'd know what they were commercials for
I want my cereal be advertised by some men in tux too
When they just told you to buy their zhit and didnt beat around the Bush. Also my 60 something bball coach said wearing the sweat bands and colored socks to stand out was "bush" still not sure what that meant but he didnt like it.
You think he meant "butch", if the team was female?
Bush League the lowest of the Leagues, all flash no substance.
"Busch league"= Total amature
Alberto VO-5, with V-D...'wonder if it caught, on?
So cool 🙂👏🏼
just a whole nother world then today lol
That E-Z Pop ad is the shit
Vytral D! and Alberto seemed pretty slick.
In the Easy Pop ad there is rap decades before it was even thought of.
I never knew that before pull tabs on cans they had to use a can opener (for beer/soda).
Is it weird to almost miss before you were born?
Sugar - it's good for you! 😂
Reserve your space in a vault today!
The ez pop commercial...was that thurl ravenscroft?(tony the tiger, and the grinch's singing voice)
1950 and I will be there to help you with the most of your time and enjoy
Nice video..but the VO-5 commercial is from the early 60s.
I remember
The commercials were better back then
The Scotties and VO5 commercials were probably from the '60s. You can tell by the woman's hairstyle that that one was likely 1962 or 1963. The rest were all likely 1950s.
I started to wonder if that was a commercial for Budweiser or Summer's Eve
Is that rapping popcorn the same voice that did the song in The Grinch (original)?
You got that right, Thurl Ravenscroft did absolutely everything back in the day.
I want a Budweiser 😊👍
first decade in the tv show industry
1:28 - NOW! With more CFC's!
Ahh the Sugar Smacks Clown, the source of many a childhood nightmare from ages 2 thru 5!
This brings back memries
gotta satisfy that bone hunger
That's always been your craving...
Open a can of beer with a can opener...wow
It was called a chuch key this was before can tabs were invented I guess
@@rickyrosay33977Yep, pull tabs weren't put on cans until the '60s. Then by the end of the '70s they introduced the tabs that stay on the cans.
SUGAR Smacks.
The sugar smacks commercial was the most awkward thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
You haven't seen much.
Y’all had it good back in the day shit was so cheap😂😂😂😂
And people weren't this stupid... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You do realize that pen was considered quite expensive back then
