  • Dan Wiederer is joined by a special fill-in host for this episode! Former Chicago Tribune reporter Rich Campbell tags in for David Haugh to discuss the latest Bears storylines. Campbell reflects on his experience covering the Bears through the Mitchell Trubisky era and when Robert Griffin III was in Washington to relate just how hard it is to both draft and develop a quarterback. The failures of Trubisky and RGIII are what the Bears are hoping to avoid by putting Caleb Williams onto a roster that appears close to being competitive. The guys also recall their time covering the Bears together during what turned out to be a disappointing 2019 season as an example of how wrong it can go if the team isn't prepared for the spotlight. #CalebWilliams #Bears #NFL

Please stop comparing Trubisky to Caleb. They couldn’t be more different. As any idiot can see. Since it’s May, if you have to, compare Caleb to Batman.

To me this time seems so different. Just how poles ripped it down. And the way he built it up. Especially the last few months. And I’ve never seen the bears have so many good players on offense. And that we should still have a good defense. It doesn’t seem the way it did when Mitch and Justin was drafted. And I feel for Justin. He was drafted In a really bad spot. And bad timing. I think he will be a starter again. But the way I see Caleb and the way he talks. I feel totally different this time. I hope our first few games are easy so they don’t get thrown into hard games. Give them a few games to click. 🐻⬇️

That’s the key for us Bears fans. We can’t let ourselves act like over-emotional idiots and start screaming “bust” as soon as Caleb has 1 bad game. Trust me when I say this, Caleb will have a bad game in his rookie season. That’s inevitable. I think, overall, he’ll play well for the entire year. But there’s an almost a 100% chance he’ll have a bad day where the game plan wasn’t flawless or the timing was off, or just that an NFL defense full of playmakers had a great scheme and had all the checkmate plays to cancel out Caleb.
My fear is that there’s still WAY too many Bears fans who, for some reason, are Justin Fields diehards and don’t want to let it go. They’ll sit in silence and wait for the first bad game, then try their hardest to spread negativity everywhere and try to make the rest of the fan base toxic.
We have a new, amazing QB. He’s a consensus generational prospect for a reason. Let’s let him develop and watch the magic happen.

If you are professionals how can you not see that Fields is late on virtually every throw but Caleb gets rid of it faster than anyone. It’s different now!!

yeah these front office is way different than pace. It just doesn't feel different, Poles is definitely building the team the right way unlike Pace trading away all his first round picks and leaving it up to Poles to clean everything up

And please stop telling me not to be optimistic! Caleb is different. Only dummies can’t see that and continue to insist that the future must always be the same as the past.

Ryan Poles said "I'm kind of done talking about it" in that case he does get to set the terms, he also said " Obviously we love our history here, but it hasn't been smooth recently and it's time to change. He is the GM, and is doing A great job. I don't blame him for not wanting to talk about the history when he is working tirelessly to change that. BEAR DOWN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matt Nagy was such a horrible HC and he will NEVER get another HC position in the NFL again! And I’m sorry but if the Bears don’t win more than 7 games this season then Eberflus needs to get fired cuz he looked lost during the massive losing streak and was also on board for blowing double-digit leads in 4th quarters in 3 separate games ending in L’s so he should be on a very hot seat just from that. Then add the whole Claypool situation where he had no clue how to answer media questions and it made the franchise look completely incompetent. Imo he shouldn’t even be the HC
