I love this song and as a singing teacher I was so happy to hear a woman sing it. Now I can pass this song on to my female students and hope it will give them just as much joy as it gave me so many years ago.
The "Songs of Travel" was for me always Sir Thomas Allen. But I think now it's Wallis Giunta too. Very well done! The best I've heard from a woman until now.
Thank you, you just wrote what I thought. Congratulations to Wallis. I never thought I could like a woman to sing the "Songs of Travels" after Sir Thomas Allen. It's difficult with other male singers, because he's so unique but the young Lady did it. Best wishes to her.
@@lilianwach4526 thank you, both. I'm lucky to have studied and worked with Sit Tom for several years, and his inspiration can be felt here, I think :)
@@wallis.giunta i did indeed. I have taught and coached singers for over 45 years and am always pleased to discover something that disrupts my established sense of "how things ought to be". I have a student singing this now and said to him, "this is one of the most masculine songs in the repertoire." You upset that apple cart! He is going to hear your performance in his lesson this week. Thank you for thinking outside the box.
I’ve always wanted to perform this song, and thanks to your video my college professor has decided that I can!! I am literally so excited! You did this incredibly, and I’m so thankful!
I was just about to suggest 'The Sky Above the Roof' but Nathaniel got in before me! So I'll suggest "The Watermill" instead.... :) Lovely performance.
Stunning performance and glorious voice! As others have mentioned, it was never on my radar to give this piece to a woman. You've just made that my mission!
Huge fan of this set of songs, but for the many who try, only a few succeed. My favorites are Thomas Allen and John Tomlinson (I am biased to the orchestral accompaniment). I had not heard a female performance before yours, but I really, really liked it. I would love to see you complete the set. Great performances!
Hi Andrew! Thank you for the kind words. Sir Tom is also my favourite, by far :) I have actually performed the whole set several times in recital, and I believe a few of the others are here on my YT channel from this same performance. Hopefully I can sing them for you in person some day!
@@wallis.giunta After looking at your other musical posts and seeing opera as your primary focus, it was really cool to see a Gordon Lightfoot cover. He was my main guy while growing up on the NY/Ontario border, my first concert, etc. I also loved seeing you perform with your sister. You're both incredibly talented and beautiful.

and this whole time i thought this song was a mans song, and you pulled it off beautifully!! girl power!!!💗🎶
A song is a song, and if the singer can tell the story, that's all that matters ;)
Very happy to see a woman singing this song. You're inspiring me, I'll choose this for my next audition ;)
Go for it!
Uma deusa da voz. Ponto. Definitivamente vou pedir as minhas colegas sopranos do Brasil para cantarem que eu acompanho.

Beautiful voice and fine artistry, and the man at the piano is also excellent.
I was expecting to hate this. I did not! What a fine unexpected performance!
I'm so thrilled to hear you liked it!

A great performance, so expressive!
I'm super glad to have found this. Beautiful technique, voice, and interpretation!
Much appreciated! I'm glad you like it :)

This was what I just shared on my Facebook page, after listening to you.
".... Heard this piece at a concert yesterday,
The baritone was a man, and it made my day...
Twenty four hours later, the rendition literally dwarfed the other remake...
Have a listen, and dare to make hay...

Yesss! Let the ladies be vagabonds as well 😉
GREAT!
Bravo, I was hesitant, but you did an amazing job! I don't think many men could touch your rendition! Excellent!!
Aw man, thank you so much.

Nicely done. Vaughan Williams is my favourite composer. Have you ever sung "The Sky Above the Roof" ?
Yes, I have!
Great Giunta!
Thank you :|)
Great!!!
❤❤❤Dear, Wallis. Bellissima. For Mezzo Soprano, has She singing comfortable 1# - 4# and 1b - 4b only?
I'n not sure what you're asking...is it a question of mezzo soprano vocal range?
Congratulations. She is very good and has a wonderful timbre. However, I find the song's performance a little too slow.
Thanks, Davide. I'll keep that in mind the next time I perform it ;)
