I've been watching a lot of videos on voicings but this is the one I've been looking for the whole time. I've already had somewhat of an understanding of the theory behind voicings but this video finally gave me some practical and actionable advice on how to actually play them. The common, general advice was always to "just start playing lead sheets" and I'd sit down and not know what to do other than the basic LH voicings based on 3rds but now I'm excited to try this out and build up my voicing repertoire and muscle memory.

You certainly can and it will help when you go to play with other musicians. Focus on rootless chords and the other one that did the 3 and 7. That way you don't step on the bass player's toes

Merci for this. I'm working on my chops. I started with vegan chops, since I thought it would be better for the planet. But my Mom used to cook us pork chops, but my favorite was lamb chops. Looking at this lesson, I have a certain Pavlovian reaction and am starting to salivate already.
BTW I've seen many pianists complain about finger strength, piano pains and tension. I have filmed a video about exercises for the pianist, that is to say for the person sitting at the piano for their body. My daughter is doing the editing but is in the middle of editing for a TV show and it won't be ready until August. I'll let you know the link once it's up.
    Stay tuned.

This is great lesson. I would really appreciate a lesson on when and how to use the pedal. Because in all of your examples your notes are sustained, and the sound is very full. But you don't say how you achieved the sound QUALITY. Please help.
