The Eizan Railway, Kyoto, Japan

This privately-operated railway runs from Demachiyangi in north-east Kyoto northwards to Kurama and Yase Hieizanguchi with a junction for both destinations at Takaragaike. The Railway operates 2-car trains towards Kurama and single car trains to Hieizanguchi. During the autumn, special maple leaf viewing trains operate to Kurama and the highlights are a 'Maple Tree Tunnel' between Ichihara and Ninose stations as well as Kurama Temple and Mount Hiei accessible from the lines terminii where more autumn colours can be enjoyed.
