7:12 Don't blame you JayTee for feeling sentimental feeling tears of joy welling up! The worst feeling as a kid who bought into Losi/Kyosho/Tamiya/Yokomo was the pain of buying parts at the time that was expensive for a kid, knowing hobby shops here in Australia had ridiculous markups compared to the US because I read RCCA and knew what you guys paid for your parts. There was no Chinese competition back then, to buy from. Back then the analog spectrum caused interference crashes often for me, which lead to costly repairs. These companies help introduce more people into RC which is a great thing.
Great review of this little beast. We just received ours for review also,I've uploaded a couple small clips on it so far. I will tell you this, we got 46 mph yesterday on a fully charged and warmed up 3s battery by Zeee, 80c 2200 mah, that barely fit in there, actually had to remove the foam tho. This little truck is a great deal, I've always dealt with 1/10 scale or larger but I really like this truck. We just started up this new channel as our old one was hacked, took a year off from YT and are finally back. It's frustrating to lose over 300k subs, definitely hard to replace them. Stay up my friend, great job!
@JayTeeRC huh... I'm aggravated with RUclips. It never notified me of your first upload. Very embarrassing to ask a question to which the answer was clearly given. Sorry. My bad. 😔 But... yayy! I've got something to watch this morning! ❤
It is bonkers on 4s (I run a $40 ZTW ESC and the stock 2s LIPOs in series). 60+ MPH and it s a handful... a fun handful! I have a video on how to modify the LIPO box for bigger and higher performance LIPOs and it will go 45+ mph on 3s.
Watched your video on that conversion, great video. I have a new ESC ready for this one after all of our reviews of it 100% stock. The stock 45esc really restricts this truck! Gave you a sub as well.
I absolutely love mine. It's so much fun and it's so tough for SO CHEAP. Best value I believe.. Definitely dethrones the Hyper Go stuff, both 1/14 and 1/16.
Parts are everywhere on Amazon and eBay. And yeah, this bashes and drives better than any other cheap brand RC I've seen. Tougher than the Hyper Go and handles like a Kraton or Sledge just smaller and lighter
Haven't bashed it much, yet, I will say this, we will be uploading a video this week of ours losing connection briefly after about 600 ft, hit a light pole at 35+, all that happened was it knocked the go pro and GPS off and scratched the bumper! Tough little truck!
@@K5_RCOn Amazon are you buying from the HBX store or another place? They barely have any parts there. I had no choice but to buy some shocks from their official store but it ships from China. Would love a better solution although it is teaching him patience 😂
This.. Rlaarlo rebrands some Hyper Go stuff, but other than that they're only really proper for speed cars IMO. And this HBX 2997A is the best handling cheap RC I've ever seen. And tough as nails. I have had many Hyper Go trucks and they're cool, but terribly unreliable in my experience.
Naah none of thy Rlaarlo cars of the last 1.5 years at least were rebranded - quite the opposite, you can read everywhere that they put a lot of engineering and new ideas into their more recent cars. Don't know about the older ones, though.

that's a great machine right there. HBX coming strong.

Great car..did you ever tear down and check diffs for grease..just curious if they lube gears at factory.thanks
I wish HBX would up size the 2997a and offer a 1:10, or 1:8 scale. Redcat and Arrma would have some serious competition in my opinion.
Definitely!
This looks like it runs smooth
Deff is worth the price, I agree 3S is perfect
Great review! Any idea how it will stand up to bashing at a concrete skatepark?
See the first video I posted yesterday on this

Yea , I have the 18th scale version and it's a little ripper too. with better tires of course.

@@10thscaleperformance thanks man! I appreciate the kind words and the sub.
Real shame they didnt put more thought into this and just locate the esc on top of that wide looking servo
That's what a lot of us do actually for the 2996a and 2997a. It opens up that other side for normal batteries
Can you tell me if it has a 2845 can motor or is it bigger...i just discovered this car and seems like a perfect little budget racer.thanks

But will it bash and is there parts?

@@K5_RC Nice sounds good coming from you .
@@C-St-G-The-DriftR It's my new favorite cheap RC by far. It's awesome.

Which do you prefer…this or the Rlarro?

Wow what was your max speed with those 3s 2200 s
Yeah, I wish the would have had RC’s like that too bro. My first RC was a TA RC-10😳… 1980 !!
nice!
You going to have to change the tires and you can get a better top speed.
Great R/C Love Mine but after getting the Rlaarlo Terminator for $218 I can't recommend the 2997a even with the Price difference.
