Once I was auditioning for a school play/sort-of musical and I thought my audition (singing and a cold read) was terrible... and then the director came up to me out of nowhere a few days later and said, “You have a wonderful singing voice, by the way. I never knew that about you.” She winked and walked away... I ended up getting the lead role in that play.

I once got a standing ovation for an audition from the whole judging panel. Thought I went super well from that. In the end no call back. Didn't get the role, didn't even get chorus. So no hints at all!

That's insane. Have to wonder if they simply did that for everyone, or if not, what did the other talent do in their auditions that you didn't even get a call back for yours.
