4-18-1 at the start and 35-10 since. Thats what a MISSION looks like. Nothing is guaranteed but as a kid who attended games with his dad in the 60s at Tiger Stadium, this team is like no other I've watched. WIth the defense showing what they were capable of, you have to know there is no one they can't beat.
Even after the 2nd goff interception I told people he'd dial in like usual and cook the rest of the game, and he did just that. Anzalone being back was huge too. He's been essentially the QB on defense when he's played this year and played AND led the defense crazy well for his first game back

Lions fan here. My theory is that AG used vanilla defense against the forty winers to trick the next team to underestimate us in to thinking we suck. It looks as though we can get pressure easily. We need to worry about the next game we play. Love your video

Anzalone was a huge boost for this defense. After Hutch he was the nest emotional leader and his presence on the field allowed for everyone else to trust their assignments.
They look ripe for a mini dynasty at the least. They are soooo stocked with young talent. Salary cap is gonna catch up in a couple of years when all the rookie contracts get changed for big boy contracts.
The new talking head narrative is going to be "Minnesota beat themselves/Darnold turned into a pumpkin." That way, they can avoid saying they were wrong about the injury narrative, even though Lions fans stated to everyone that getting people like Anzalone back would make the defense more like it did at the beginning of the year. It wasn't the Lions red zone defense (which started off 1/2 this year), it was Darnold missing open people (which had nothing to do with the pressure, of course).

What I thought was really interesting about the game last night is how much MCDC's approach impact O'Connell's decision making. I would bet good money that had that came been the Vikings vs Packers, O'Connell kicks those field goals when they got down there close. However, he KNOWS that MCDC will absolutely go for it in the same circumstances. O'Connell has to go for it to "keep pace". You've seen it else where during this season, that the opposing coach starts taking risks that they would not normally do (and their teams aren't prepared for) because they know the other side won't flinch and will go for it. I think we're seeing a revolution in football in real time.
This is why our Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFL, we played through all of the injuries and won 11 games in a row with as many as 22 players on IR. It’s not about the record determining which team is the best, it’s the circumstances in which you play through and continue to win when the odds say that you shouldn’t be winning in this situation. Just look at the 49’s when Aiuk and Caffery went down, the offense slowed down quite a bit, and the lost a few players on defense and they didn’t compete well
I think a lot of head coaches are getting fired this season because the fact that despite 13 defensive players on IR they went 15-2 no head coach is ever getting the injury excuse for losing ever again unless they lost their starting QB for the year
