    For over 35 yrs I identified as gay, until 2104 when I had a profound spiritual encounter and then left that lifestyle completely. In 2017, I experienced a deliverance and no longer experience those same-sex desires. Actually, I have no sexual desire at all, which some may label as "asexual". What i find ironic is that asexuality falls under the umbrella of "LGBTQIA". At any rate, I feel the Lord has removed the former identity in order to show me the power of His grace, and since then it has been difficult for me to share my testimony, because practically no one believes my experience was authentic (except for my Christian friends). Many assume I went through some sort of reparative therapy, when actually I experienced deliverance while I was attending a gay-affirming church, just from reading the Bible, and going through a 12-step SCA program which revealed the traumas in my life that needed healing. I have been celibate since 2017 and living proof that Jesus uses very unorthodox ways to reach sinners when He wants.

      So what? I've been celibate by choice for going on 7 years. I didn't need a sky fairy or book of myths to accomplish that. And yes, Ace is part of the LGBTQIA spectrum.
      Try separating your past trauma from your innate identity and you'll be a hell of a lot happier, celibate or otherwise.

    • @mrmcgowan
      @mrmcgowan 2 года назад +14

      @@k.j.greenwood6473 Who said I wasn't happy? Stop projecting and making assumptions. I was quite clear about my deliverance. No need to be rude just because it triggers you and makes YOU uncomfortable.

      @k.j.greenwood6473 2 года назад

      @@mrmcgowan people in denial and preaching ignorance from that space are dangerous. Yeah, maybe that is triggering, as well it should be.
      "If I can be made un-gay, so can you" is the underlying message of your "testimony" and therein lies the problem. "Leaving the lifestyle" doesn't change your innate nature. You took it with you. Just because you have no sex drive doesn't mean you're no longer gay. It means you're celibate. If you're happy, 👍 no problem, man. But once you figure out that there isn't some past trauma that caused your innate sexuality, it'll be easier to deal with.

    • @mrmcgowan
      @mrmcgowan 2 года назад +11

      @@k.j.greenwood6473 There is nothing to "deal with". That is your presumption and where you are wrong. I've already dealt with the trauma, which did in fact, lead to homosexuality (prior to that I had heterosexual interests). But as the scriptures say, I am a new creation in Christ. There is no more sexual desire for other men, so should I claim an identity I no longer experience? I had a deliverance experience that shifted my desires and interests. Just because you cannot comprehend it does not mean it cannot happen. You have not lived my life nor do you get to define my life; only Christ can do that.

    I lost a very dear childhood friend to AIDS 15 years ago. He was bright , talented and worked in Hollywood like you. I prayed for his salvation almost daily and he was saved by Jesus on his death bed. After decades of praying for my friend I had a false belief that it was nearly impossible for him to be saved, and that he likely would have never reached out to Christ had he not been near death. Your testimony has given me hope♥️ I just want you to know how encouraging your videos are. I miss him and often wonder what it would have been like to know him as a Christian. Watching you gives me a little glimpse of that♥️ I also really enjoy your videos with Chynna as you two remind me of the friendship I had with my friend . I look forward to seeing him in the clouds. I am also beyond frustrated with “woke” DEvangelicals looking at the problems highlighted in this film, thinking that is what “the church” thinks about homosexuality and totally rewriting the Bible as they try to “apologize”. As I commented on the original Facebook post of your article, if you think about it, the majority of the harm discussed in this film was not done by "the church", but by men who misunderstood and misrepresented the teachings of Jesus to such an extent that they themselves walked away from their own erroneous teaching. When you come to Jesus, you don't stop 'being gay' per se; but if you really sincerely belong to Jesus (the only one in the form of a man to ever really love you) what happens is that part of you becomes small, whereas the part that desires to go in by 'the straight and narrow gate' grows larger by contrast. St. Paul's name literally means 'small' or 'little'; the name he took after accepting Christ. We Christians still have a 'sin nature'; there's a 'small' part of me that still wants to be Ziggy Stardust and sing along with ol' Boy George records. Speaking of David Bowie: I had a close friend who worked for David back in the 80s, shortly after he publically renounced 'being gay' (he also denied any of the 'gay' rights groups the permission to use his music). He was a man of prayer, in his way. I have a story about that; I hope Becket doesn't mind.

And sometimes I do struggle with these thoughts however Bible says to take every thought captive to the mind of Christ. If We confess it to the Lord and we ask Him to wash us if these then He certainly does ! And I do notice a big difference in the level of attraction I once had. I am happily married today with two beautiful sons and I still pinch myself that God had mercy on me all those years while I was in rebellion against Him and His perfect ways.

      It’s a spiritual thing. Ive read a comment from an ex atheist that said that even through they grew up atheists, their parents were atheists, and they weren’t around Christians (or didn’t know, because Christians don’t always go out there and say that they are), and that no Christian did or said anything that left a bitter taste in their mouth, they still found themselves hating Christianity and Christians. Even if they didn’t know much about Christianity or know any open Christians growing up. It’s definitely more spiritual than people think. My cousin is in lgbtq+, and they have a completely bad view of Christianity. Although they’ve never read the Bible for themselves, tried to understand it, or anything. Just assumptions. Trust me it’s spiritual. People have so much anger for Christianity in particular when there are many other beliefs that say the same thing or have more conservative leaning principles. I attended Exodus conferences throughout the 1990’s. As a Christian, it felt so freeing just to be with other Christians who experience SSA. Not once was there ever any coercion or manipulation, nor any promise of “becoming straight.” It was all about discipleship. Were the people perfect? No. But that didn’t detract from the gospel and the hope of Jesus Christ for me. Do I still experience SSA? Yes. Do I also experience the tremendous grace and peace and provision of God? Absolutely. God has been so good. They’re always calling this program “conversion therapy.” There is no such thing as conversion therapy, and neither Exodus nor any of its affiliates ever practice such a thing. It’s all about lies and deception. God is in control. Those who are His will see the light. Blessings.

I've dealt with attraction to the same sex all my life, acted out on it and never married. I considered Exodus Int'l at one time but realized Jesus didn't call homosexuals to become attracted to the opposite sex but to cease the practice of homosexuality itself. As you mentioned, his recipe for being a follower is denying ourselves and sacrificing daily which is the same recipe for every other sin we'd love to do.

    Right on Beckett! I'm still tempted by female nudity even after being saved. I have to put up the shield of faith. Temptation will always be there. We still have the old nature to deal with. But if we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the list of the flesh (Galatians 5:16-18)😀

You also use God's word to call out sin,exactly what it is,SIN. Keep fighting that battle of the mind...keep serving God with your mind, that is exactly where the battle is. Dear Beckett, I might even go one step further and implore Christians to dump Netflix altogether. My family did a couple years ago after we got sick of them CONSTANTLY pushing the whole ‘Christians are dumb, but gay people are awesome heroes’ in a such a heavy handed way. And not even just gay sex, but all raunchy sex… and they would play trailers the moment you logged on, which were inescapable… including when our young son would log on. Aside from missing the last season of The Crown, it has not been missed much in our home. Even The Crown got pretty gross during the last season I saw. We have to start asking ourselves, “why am I funding this garbage to be made?” Just my two cents, which adjusted for current inflation, is worth about a half penny.

    I have struggled with eating disorders most of my adult life. I never expected to lose all of my temptations in that area. Sometimes I still want that big plate of steak fries instead of the veggies. Or maybe a whole deep dish pizza. I have leaned on my faith all my life to help me deal with this. Why should it be different with sexual sins? The people from Exodus lied to themselves and others.

    You've been such a blessing Becket! I love what you said about HOLY sexuality being the goal instead of HETEROsexuality. I've never struggled with homosexual desires but my sinful heterosexual desires aren't any better. I'm grateful for the godly people God sent my way that allowed me, right from the start of my walk with Him, to understand that God does not always grant freedom from our sinful struggles (though I've known people who have been miraculously delivered as well). Indeed, his grace is sufficient and his strength made perfect in our weaknesses.
    God bless you, brother!

    I live in Portland and I'm a Christian woman. For me, it's very hard to make new friends that aren't Christians. I'm not rude about sharing my faith, I don't ever talk about my opinion against the gay community publicly...yet somehow it seems *I assume * that people just don't want to be my friend because I'm a Christian. This really sucks as I really want non Christian friends too!

      Thank you for saying this: Yes, receiving Jesus and the indwelling of The Holy Spirit is better than counseling and/or therapy. Yes, in the past, there were counseling and therapy programs for same-sex addiction that were often cruel and hypocritical. Yet, there are many involved with these programs who are gracious and well-meaning, and those struggling with same-sex have received sustinence from them. Overall, the 'ex-gay' movement has shown real improvement (and Becket deserves credit for it, among others), and deserves many another chance in all it's facets. Amen.

    I told my supposedly christian boyfriend of five years I promised God I wasn't going to sleep with him anymore. He verbally attacked me and told me have fun in heaven and to get the f out of there. I was dumbfounded that he didn't respect my commitment to God. I'm sooooo happy now!!!

    Becket, thank you for your channel. You are such a blessing to me and all who hear you! My uncle lived as a gay man from the 1960s-1980s. He said that the LORD "woke him up" when his boyfriend left him. He went to work one day and he thought they were "okay". He came back to their home and his boyfriend had taken EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING! This betrayal caused him to realize that he needed to depend more on the LORD and less on people. Anyway, he seemed more like a father figure to me than just my uncle. Since then, my heart is so tender to the gay community. We need to see everyone as people needing a Savior. :) GOD bless you, Becket!

I ministered a lot in this area in the 80s and many of my ministry friends and those we were working with saw a lot of fall-out from the teachings of Exodus and conversion therapy. The church got so much wrong in those days. We can humble ourselves and own that without affiriming. You're spot on with this which is why we need you, dear Brother! 🙏🏻💛 Hope we get to chat someday! Absolutely correct - PsychoBible - Andrew Rodriguez. Grateful you brought the needed correction in your video... ruclips.net/video/hdac4O06Q4c/видео.html
      After hearing this video, I believe Becket Cook owes many ministry leaders that were a part of Exodus an apology for his parroting the "Pray Away" fallen failed leadership messaging of the HRC/SPLC ruse terminology of "CONVERSION THERAPY" and throwing other therapists under the bus who have been offering tremendous help for decades. He communicated that he 'knew' and sounded like he had an insight into these ministries. AND where did he gain all this insight? He wasn't even a Christian when Exodus was thriving. You might at least talk with Joe Dallas who was not really involved in the leadership in the last days but saw the helpful years of Exodus as a former President of Exodus. Certainly not Christopher Yuan, as a mere author and speaker, who did not offer any pastoral care counseling as an Exodus ministry, but support Alan Chambers to the end. If you want to actually know, you might want to talk to the Chairman of the Ministry Council (that would be me) about what really took place. You might want to know about the process of the Matthew 18 path to trying to redeem Exodus from the clutches of Whitten and Chambers. I welcome a phone or zoom meeting to help clarify a lot of what you believe, which is false. Becket, do you realize you shame yourself by revealing you did NOT do your research? Do you understand that you crossed a line in sinning against many leaders that actually offered great help in sound ministerial care? Do you even care?
      You really need to watch Andrew Rodrigues, who did his research on this subject. ruclips.net/video/hdac4O06Q4c/видео.html
