always awesome content here. Everybody was saying I should skip Alchemy and go with Engineering.. but after seeing this video, I am keeping Alchemy. You sir, are a lifesaver.
Also note that the Tailoring cloak proc gives Intellect which in Cataclysm gives Spellpower 1:1 to Intellect (assuming no kings or +intellect modifiers) AND spell crit chance AND max mana. It's really quite strong.
Furthermore the 'average' Intellect received from the Tailoring cloak is a massive 145 Intellect vs the usual 80 you get from the other Professions. Tailoring's benefit being a proc on an ICD also means that depending on fight, you get even MORE benefit from it. On average it will have an up-time of around 25% (15 sec duration on a 60 sec CD) however if a fight lasts 90 seconds you will likely get 2 procs within that duration which in turn means the 580 Intellect is actually worth 191 Intellect on average (30 sec up-time on a 90 sec fight). It's only when the CD of the cloak proc finishes the moment the fight ends that you'll get the theoretical 15/60 sec up-time. You're more likely to have a higher up-time simply due to kill-times relative to the CD time.

I really hope they do Era servers for Wrath (as they should have for TBC). I plan on continuing into Cataclysm and beyond, I just know others don't. And unlike some people who seem to actively not want people like me to get what we want, I want them to get whatever they want as well. Yes it'll make the communities smaller - but also tighter, with options and variety. My end wish is for the ability to have your character move between eras freely, having separate banks, gold and progression. Not sure how many people would regularly do that - but it is nice to have options.
I’d like to stay back in wotlk era to pvp. Just have to worry about every other team having a shadowmourne/val combo. 😅😅
They would be insane not to do WotLK servers with how much work they put into it. If they don't, private servers will simply release more that will be advertised as "the true Wrath experience" with no changes.
Id love that too, but with all the sod boomers hating on wrath these days, might not happen.
Yeah I took a break from wow when tbc classic was coming on the horizon and thinking I’d be able to settle down on a bc era server I was wrong and missed all of tbc and most of wrath as I just came back 2 weeks ago. I’m usually on classic era and I agree. Though the community over there is small, it’s very tight knit and people constantly pug raids daily over there still. I guarantee wrath and bc servers would have raid loggers just to be able to go back to a favorite iterations or expansions of wow seems like a good idea considering pservers still have a decent following for those niche players that blizz could capitalize on. Either way, I always enjoyed cata, even though I am a die hard classic enjoyer. With classic era servers, it’s nice to have the old world over there and the updated world after the cataclysm and what feels like a true time skip from vanilla. I jump around when I feel like it and I do wish the communities would stop the in fighting. Sorry for the rambles. Cheers

I'm overly excited for Cata. I know that anytime someone has said they didn't like Cata, it was basically because they were bandwagoning what they've heard or what other content creators are saying. People don't like the "new" world? I had a friend tell me that and my response was "ok, let's go level a new character... we're in the old world right now!" And they immediately realized they didn't want to even be in the old world and leveling anything.. Sure there are flaws, as any expansion has.. But Cata gets a lot of unnecessary hate.. and for seemingly little reason
not to mention TBC and WOTLK aren't part of the old world either
You're conveniently leaving out the big step up in raid difficulty. Every iteration of wow has had difficult raids at the very end game but normal Cata raids are on par with Wrath heroic raids. Playerbase is having fun now but the raids will push out any casual player

the engineering gloves enchant actually comes down to an average 80 main stat if u do the math. its 480 for 10 seconds with a 50 seconds downtime. so 480/6=80. the only advantage is that u can time it with other cds so u get a higher amount of burst window.
same with the tailoring.
Alchemy also has a prof-only mount you can make through Archaeology.
Alchemy makes the mount but the mount doesn't require alchemy to use.

Back in the days, I was tailor on my warrior and even though everybody was like "wtf, a warrior with tailoring?" it was absolute banger! Don't hesitate to put tailoring on your warrior in cataclysm it's totally worth it (other prof was JC for the +1str but I'm prolly gonna stick with engi with my classic char idk yet)
Tailoring and Engineering are best proffs for any PVPer or even in PVE..

Do i have to learn Mixology when i am alchemst ? My flask last 2 hrs but got only +53 agility from it and i dont know if it isnt from talent or the alchemy.
do you know if the tailoring cloak enchant is similar to engineering tinkers that can be used alongside enchants? do you lose the regular cloak enchant to have a tailoring enchant on the cloak that is?
It was fun being able to grind from 80 to 85 in a week. I'm hyped for raid night next Sunday.

Engineering does give you 80 off a stat. 480 for 10 seconds equals an average of 80 per minute. You're just going to get it in bursts.
Which is more valuable if you use it during BL/CDs etc

@@hellodearjoey on the past 2 weeks I have had more deranged assholes raging in groups than I have in the entirety of classic. That or people stop talking or interacting at all. The tool only works if you premade groups… which kinda defeats the purpose of the tools.
Help!! I have 450 eng on my hunter and plan on keeping that for Cata classic. Should I level up JC or Alch or LW as a second main profession? I'll do both pvp and pve. Thanks in advance!
Is the combination LW/Alch a good choice for a sin rogue or SV hunter? I’m thinking because of the permanent effect on bracers and 280? Agility from elixirs? Or is Alch/Tailoring better? I kinda like Alch since it can generate some gold too :) @scottejaye
i plan on going eng jc on my hpal for the first 2 phases and then switching to tailoring and dropping jc.
9:45 So thing is in cata your not supposed to stack stamina anymore as a tank, the base stam you get from gear should be enough and you really should be focusing on mitigation from Mastery/parry/dodge/etc over stamina.

@@dwarfminerwillie Stam - Mastery - Dodge - parry, I tend to prio Mastery HARD as Blood DK tho over any other stat.....can basically self sustain so healers can keep dps failing to avoid mechanics up :D

One note about Leatherworking - yes, you get dirt-cheap leg enchants, but there is NO leatherworking leg enchant for casters. So if you're a resto druid or boomkin, you'll need to buy the caster leg enchant from a tailor.

In a way, Engineering is still the same boost. You get +480 for ten seconds every minute. So it's theoretically active 1/6 of the time. 480 / 6 is ................. +80.
I know, I know, it's not "the same". +480 during pump is way better than a constant +80.

I’m actually really excited for Cata. Ofc I wish they would maybe have the finder we have in wrath for the raids other than the lower ilvl gear lfg raid that was in cata back then. Also I don’t think have group will travel was good or being able to fly in the main cities. Overall tho I think it was an awesome expansion and one with some of the best dungeons/raids that I had a blast with. Hoping for a wrath era and cata era after it runs its course, and of course I would absolutely love it if they reset gold and took out the wow token for cata. Tbh they should reset gold on every era platform. I don’t think they realize how many people would come back/goes so hard in the game after they did that.

I have an idea. You can make content in which you actually min/max which professions are best for which classes. Because this ret paladin is indecisive. I wanna swap a profession while it's still somewhat cheap and mats are still out there and affordable. Do I stick with engi/JC? Do I get leatherworking, tailoring, blacksmithing, alchemy. I don't know. I need a schedule XD

In the dragon soul patch we get epic gems, meaning that Jewelcrafting gets nerfed down to 51 stats and Blacksmithing gets buffed to 100 stats

pretty sure I remember they made it in wrath classic that engi items cannot "go wrong" in raids. They will prob keep that the same for cata so ppl could still use engi on progression without worrying about the negatives.
Does intellect actually increase spell power now in cata? cos if not, it looks like casters are in disadvantage with all these "primary stat" increase effects cos it normally only gives crit and mana.
Spell power is gone if i remember same with Attack power, it's all moved into primary stats

do i understand it right tho that Blacksmith is making 2 extra sockets meaning with 2x blue gems its gonna be the 80 stat like every other profession. However when epic gems come out later phases, is this gonna pull ahead compared to others?
Yes the epic gems will make BS the most powerful proff. In dragon soul. Giving 100 of any stat and more for stam ofc.

My gameplay loop should be perfect for cata. I level a class, gear it in bgs, realize I'm bad at arena and quit for 3 months.

Nitro Boosts are practically unusable. The Grounded Plasma Shield is actually decent for early Cata, but doesn't scale as PVE and PVP gear progresses during the expac and makes the flat 18k shield much less significant.

The more I look at it the more it looks like tanks will be LW. The other bracer enchants stink, and I hate to say this, from fear of the nerf bat, but greater drums of speed.

They got rid of it because of the insane 100% crit window trinket vom Lei-Shen which all feral druids and demo locks abused to hell and back. ^^ Edit: After WoD they removed the ability to equip and swap old tier sets because all arcane mages switched to t12 to pop arcane power before the fights. xD
Tailoring and engineering combo for added DPS in bursting and for survival (nitro boost) in BGs..
TL;DR:
Gathering profs are not worth it (herbalism, mining, skinning)
Most crafting professions give a flat 80 main stat
STANDOUTS:
Tailoring provides an average of 80 main stat via a random proc
Engi provides an average of 80 main stat on a 1 minute cd and can provide mobility (note that that the cd will put your trinkets on cd for a short time though, so its best paired with passive trinkets)
JC provides a flat 81 main stat (apparently 83 for stam, never noticed because I dont tank) until DS releases, then it drops to a flat 51 due to epic gems. Technically this is the best prof until DS, but by a teeny tiny margin.
BS provides just a flat 80 main stat until DS releases, then it jumps to being THE bis prof because with epic gems, it now provides a flat 100 main stat
Depending on your class, role, playstyle, and preferences, the best combinations will probably be Engi/JC prior to DS release, and Engi/BS post DS release, although Engi/BS is only a smidge worse prior to DS release.
Engi/Tailoring exists too.

outside niche situations, 120 stam all the time is way better than 1500 armor sometimes.

People who hate Cataclysm are the ones who also hate Nickelback. They hate it because everyone says they hate them. Cata is one of the most fun expansions out there. It's not like modern day retail or clunky like vanilla. It's fun as fuck both pvp and pve. So quit crying and give it a try. You will enjoy it equally as you enjoy Nickelback.
I’d love to see them keep the level cap at 80, it’d be so nice having wotlk and Cata content relevant or scale wotlk dungeons and raids to 80.

There is no more "best" like engi jc combo in wotlk for example, starting in cata proffesions get splitted so to say, for example in cata engi is shit, while in mop it becomes bis, so basically in cata its like melee-bs jc or anythingn like that, heals its w/e gives you perma stats, alchy enchy etc, rdps actually has best proffs which was tailo/bs? BS is sort of bis proff in cata, since we start to use fat red gems in end game.

Ya see I'm at a point where I both want to see cats classic to make the cata haters reee because they can't let anyone else have an expansion they themselves didn't like, but also I want to see the cata die hards cry because blizzard decides one of two things, they stop going forward with classic expansions and just recycle through vanilla- wrath relaunches or they do classic plus. I guess what I really want though, is the games to go free to play and that's it no more updates no more expansions let it die and work on world of war craft 2 but done right in a new engine that manages to portray the war craft style but on a much better graphical style. Blizzard is dead, Activision is dieing and Microsoft is reanimated the corpse
