I absolutely LOVE my Seal Dynamic - had it for a month and every single day I can't wipe the smile off my face. It is incredibly luxurious and feels amazing to drive. After a year of watching your channel and many others and test driving Atto 3, Dolphin, MG4 base and essence and liking them all - the Seal was a big YES as soon as I saw and test drove it. So far in a month I have saved $350 in petrol costs and have charged at home on Solar for free (so in about 6 weeks my home 7Kw charger will be paid off)
Congratulations, I can't buy BYD in the US. They say it's a national security issue, but I know the US government just wants the excuse that American cars monopolise the US market, because Tesla is being beaten by BYD in China and Asia.😂
Yep. I did this, but, a quick call to BYD and instructed to swipe down on the screen to reveal a Transport Mode Button. It asked for a password which in my case was 1111 and all was resolved.
Hi all, "Transport Mode" is engaged as your new unit leaves the factory. It's there so the 20 or so transport people involved with the delivery of your new car cannot mistreat it in transit. "Transport Mode" is reset and released just before you take delivery. Simply learn the PW for your car in advance. Works well for Valet parking, engage "TM" when leaving it for someone to park! you will know they aren't doing donuts and burning the tires off of your new ride. Cheers
@@robinkelley4638Tells us Car Folk that BYD is run by people that love cars. They know there are people out there that will damage a car they don't own, so BYD makes it nearly impossible to be done. A software update to relable it to Valet Mode will probably roll out if enough owners request it.
Bricked means can't be saved like a useless brick. Example would be I just bricked my phone with the new software update and now it won't boot. This isn't bricked. In cars this is known as limp mode. It's common for ice cars to go into limp mode if something is wrong with the sensors or engine misfires to protect against further damage. You can still drive a car in slow speed limp mode to get it fixed.
This is a very simple thing to fix, it should be a single use function to get the car from the factory to the dealer. Afterwards the icon should be removed or at least have a message popup that explains what it is and that it is not used for the end user. "Don't Touch That" does not work apparently. Wonder what the owners manual says about it.
The owners manual doesn’t.mention it. We had this happen on the evening that we picked up our atto3, 1yr ago. The BYD helpline didn’t know what it was.

Transport mode is usually disengaged while during the PDI of a car in the showroom. All new cars regardless of the brand arrive at the showroom in transport mode and the mechanics there connect the car to their computer and de-activate it.
Transport mode to me means a status you put it in if you want to tow it, or prepare for towing. It might, for example, disable any possible re-gen caused by the motors when being towed. I would always check before pressing a button like this.
Transport mode is used by the manufacturers while the vehicle is being shipped from their factory to the dealership. The vehicle is taken out of Transport mode before the customer receives the vehicle.
Very few cars have been delivered with this button active. This is a mistake by the dealer, they forgot to disable this setting before delivery. This problem is a reflection on the poor service we get in Australia by overpaid lackies, rather than a criticism of the Chinese manufacturer.
Transport Mode makes a damn good idea, so that your car cannot be abused while it's being transported from manufacturer to customer, or to avoid you car being joyrided like the Ferrari in Ferris Buellers Day Off. There is probably a way for the owner to disable it with a multi button keypress. The dealers computer will be a laptop, but will need internet access from an authorised and BYD approved network portal, so not able to connect away from the worlshop. Both situations tell Car Bores that the engineers and management at BYD are people like us, and not the usual A to B passengers behind the wheel that see cars as appliances.
SOLVED My husband pressed this self destruct button yesterday when we received our new seal. We tried to get into the password menu but nothing worked, we tried many many things like holding a button etc. It only showed operate with vds. We posted on a BYD facebook forum and tried the last tip. Drive with it. It drives up till 30 but with cruise you can drive harder. And all of a sudden, after 60km, it disappeared! The button is no longer anywhere to be found. Yay! I don't fault either my husband or the factory. But i think it would be best to just hide the button better. This button was way too easy to press and no warning whatsoever what it would mean. It also would help if the turning off was just as easy as turning it on, and actually showing a password menu would have been great😅
Yes I got my byd seal and I press that Transport mode button and speed is limited to 30km/h. If turn off car you will not be able to start it unless you press the door handle button 2 time to deactivate battery safe mode then you can start car but still speed limit 30k. They have to use computer to reset.
Here’s a rule I would pursue if I was in tech standards… if your design causes financial distress or worse, you are responsible unless you can prove you are not… seems that such a law would inspire a lot more interest to take care of the issue. 😊
I think that this happened at the European launch of the BYD Dolphin in Spain. There were car reviewers from all over Europe at the event and they could only drive the cars slowly. I had the impression that the BYD staff didn't know what to do.
Great Tip. You got a mate with a seal, showing it off because he chops your brand new M3??? Press his transport button and say nothing. Walk away Smug! Thank you Mr Viking
This was demo-ed by my sales team when i want to try they newly delivered seal at the showroom. The solution is simple, from the driver seat there is a small button located near the mirror, hold it for 5/10 secs and there will be small red light blinking and its done. But not sure if they have this button on atto
If BYD and other Chinese EV makers priced their cars in Europe at a comparable level to the RotW - ie much cheaper - I reckon the EU would slap big tariffs or outright bans pdq to protect the laggard home makers.
The option of one pedal driving should be offered via an update. Even better, a slider control so the driver can set the amount of regen braking or turn it off for the two people that don't want OPD. 😉
“Dynamic white” is hilarious. That’s like “Dynamic beige”. It’s WHITE. The transport mode button is funny too. Maybe a notice that pops up wen you press that button would help?
can't remember if I've mentioned this on your page, but test drove a BYD Seal on motorway 80-100kph and it was surging ever so slightly, salesperson didn't rebuke it, because it did it while he was driving too. Given it a lot of thought, does the car have function where it applies the brakes ever so slightly to regen the batteries, I didn't place an order.
@@EcoHouseThailand surprised the salesman didn’t rebuke me, as I brought it up twice. It was quite annoying, actually felt like you were pressing the pedal on and off, when the salesman was driving so I made sure I held the pedal as steady as I could but it continued to do it. btw, it was a RWD.
I watched what I thought was a very fair review of the Seal and the Model 3 and at the end they said they would buy the Tesla; the ride quality and handling on corners were not good on the seal.
Why to press a button if you don't know what it does, do you want to push the shift knob to reverse when driving on highway? if there's a icon says eject you also try it because of curiosity? that button is for transportation of vehicle from factory to distributor to dealer preventing current leakage, there's no need to have dealer use any computer to disable it, the steps are in the manual. people don't bother reading manual these days, many years ago some dude bought hair regrow spray and just sprayed into his mouth as inhaler without looking at the instruction or packaging. in the us, if you buy a bag of nuts like pistachio, there're prints on the bag saying "remove shells before consuming". I guess BYD doesn't know there'll be lawsuits if they don't add warning, explaining what the icon does and asking to confirm when the icon pressed
BYD would sell a lot more cars if their prices were competitive with their rivals. The Seal seems like an okay car, but it costs more than a Model 3. It costs more than a Model Y. Why would anyone want to buy a Seal? I might add that the Seal does have a lot going for it - proper physical controls and a very traditional driving experience but when BYD are asking 5 grand more than a comparative Tesla then they're going to have a problem. They did the same when the Atto 3 went against the MG 4.
Too many 3rd parties getting greedy for doing next to nothing, wanting a big slice of the pie. And don't forget the services that need to be added on, something like 3 grand on top, over several years checking the window wiper fluid, to keep your warranty.

If you are in Europe prices are higher as the EU is investigating BYD for dumping subsidized cheap EVs that will destroy the local market. The EU wanted expensive Chinese cars so now why are they complaining
You have your wires crossed. The base Seal Dynamic is a full $15,000 cheaper than the base Model 3 RWD in Australia. The Seal Premium is still $5,000 cheaper than the base Model 3, but with significantly more range. The Seal Performance is faster than the Model 3 LR, but again $5,000 cheaper than the Tesla, plus the Seal Performance has an LFP battery, unlike the Model 3 LR. Sam, the Seal is a nice vehicle. I've driven both the Premium and Performance versions. The Performance is scarily FAST! Excellent value in Australia. Better than the Tesla's but, I had to order a Model 3 LR simply because the Seal has quite low ground clearance. I bang on about this in comments to many reviews, because it's a VERY real problem that reviewers haven't noticed or have ignored. I get it that fans will ignore it, but I was guaranteed to scrape the front edge of the bumper if I went through with my order. Not the back of the front bumper than people have tried to correct me on. Looking forward to the M3 LR (and one pedal driving 😀) which sits 4 centimetres higher on my problematic driveway at 6 centimetres, than the Seal at only 2 centimetres. I had to enter my carport at an absolute crawl so as not to scrape the demo vehicle bumper - which BTW other drivers (and probably dealer staff) already had! Where is this button to be avoided in the Atto 3 menu? We have an Atto 3 and I'm keen to avoid pressing it by accident.
Model 3 has less ground clearance. I have both a model 3 and a Seal and the Model 3 will regularly bottom out on curbs and speed bumps. You are confusing the argument because the Seal has a front spoiler which may hit a steep driveway incline. This is a problem with any car that has a front spoiler. I even thought about installing a spoiler on the Model 3 because it looks better but the Seal already has one.
@@vasil7410 Yes, but the front spoiler (as you call it) ships with the vehicle. Do BYD recommend removing it? I did notice some screws. What is the stability and range affect if it's removed? The Seal is a performance vehicle - especially the AWD. I'm sure it's there for a reason. What does the front of the Seal look like as far as ascetics if it's removed? If the vehicle looks fugly then not an option. No options were offered to me when I ordered, nothing in the manual or on the BYD site. I chose to cancel and get the 2024 M4 LR. Happy I did. Yes, any vehicle will bottom out, I'm acutely aware of that every time I drive over a hump or driveway, especially in a low VW Polo, but I've avoided scratching the Polo bumper. Wasn't going to be the same with the Seal.
@@Paul-ow9dd Not suggesting you should remove the spoiler, that would look like sh*t. The point is it's inaccurate to say the Telsa has more ground clearance. Gonna be honest some of the brands you support… I’ve looked into their gas variants… I wouldn’t touch any Chinese EVs if they are all following similar standards
This is a real head scratcher. I thought if it were like the emergency lights in a car, you should be able to turn it off, as easily as one turns it on. If it were meant for the manufacturer to transport the vehicle, why would you even expose it to the consumer in the first place (?) Major UI failure. (Though should be easily fixable.)
It's a pain in the a** for sure but this is not what 'completely bricked' means. If it were 'completely bricked' you wouldn't be able to move it at all without a factory image reflash

If this experience is correct in every detail, then good grief. Right there on the big screen thingy as well. What if it was hit accidentally? Why is it even there in the first place? It’s a security risk IMO. Read the manual first. But hey, who does that these days? Surely, if a transport mode is necessary it would be for roadside assist and mechanics to know how and where to access it. The purported assistance the owner said they received from the importer is also a concern. If in fact thats what happened.

Some people in Australia understand the mortal threat that the CCP poses to the world and some don't.

There are certain situations where a front spoiler is going to be a problem for the Seal and other situations that will be a problem for the Telsa.
Thanks
Welcome
I own a seal and the dealership is supposed to disable the transport mode and get rid of the icon.
I would jack my car up and let it run for 2 hours under 30 km a hour
Guaranteed my kid would press that button 😂
That’s nuts. At least a warning should pop up when you press the button.
Definitely BYD has a big issue on this problems .
😁💖⚡️🌏✌️
...As the commenter right above you simply says press the button again and enter the code 1111
brick = nothing happens. It's "limp" mode actually.
That fault is totally unacceptable. Way beyond a joke. The driver AI is supposed to be crap.
BYD - Brick Your Dreams
The US & EU are adding large amounts of tax on China NEV. This is the reason they are very expensive.
It is a hidden Superpower. 😅
BYD= Brick Your Dream 😁
Looks like it puts in shipping mode. It should be deleted by the dealer so dealer error there.
For true Full Brick Mode, please pres Brick button.
To expensive in New Zealand as well.
Too expensive is NZ?
Guaranteed my dog would bump his nose on the button.
I fall for it, I was sacred by a couple of hours, but manage to unlock with 1111
It is obviously a one usage mode intended for factory to seller transport, but if they didnt use it is left!
Its is not in manuals, no documentation, nothing.
Not sure how I triggered again the keypad ib the screen to ublock, but you dont need to take it to the shop
Better wait for the Sea Lion.
If u drive your seal to the nearest fish shop will Reverse back to normal mode
Is it true that BYDs software is a bit whacked?
True.
After 4 months of owning a Seal AWD I can say I’ve have no problem with the software.
Robert Llewellyn thought it was great he said
Well, he would, wouldn't he.
Could you imagine Tesla doing that
It's funny when it's China. Oh, that just Chinese culture. They don't get the West yet. Whereas Elon would be Crucified.
I thought the car would lock you in and only un-brick itself after you will have read Chairman Xi book and memorized key ideas of the great leader
You are also required to make a social media post praising either the CCP or Communism.
BYD with Chinese characteristics?
Only when you hail the big leader to the build-in spycams.
🔔 end
...well in German cars you would get gassed. US cars: you would get enslaved or nuked. Japanese cars: raped with a tentacle dildo.
BTW carnewschina, looks like the Seagull is going global?
You’d think BYD would go out if their way to make things right for a newly launched vehicle.
So what is transport mode for, thought you might have answered that one 😂
It’s for shipping!
A car with such software problem should not be allowed on the road and looking from comments BYD did not fix it after a year it being known.
... As the commenter above you simply says press the button again and enter the code 111 1
@@jb5music it is not working for every car. Mine ist still locked in the transport mode. There is no possibility to put the code in.
Sam, basically every EV sold in Europe is overpriced with the exception of Tesla. Without (high) subsidies electric utopia will not happen on our shores…
The code to diablesa it is 1111
What is diablesa?
Have an ice cream cone while you are waiting.
@@LouDeVeresorry, y mean disable. If You have press the button, you can press it again en then you have to put in the code 1111. Y had the same problem.
BYD....hard no thanks
so why did BYD put a booby trap on their cars? seems silly!!
I have a great love for the people of China, but the CCP is a hostile power. BYD cars should never be allowed to be sold in the US! Allowing sale of such an important item here would be crazy and must be prevented either by an outright ban or by prohibitively high import tariffs! Some people in Australia understand the mortal threat that the CCP poses to the world and some don't.
I try not to press my wife’s button.
Big Fan, But 😂
Who in their right mind would buy an electric car
one way of stopping a car jacking I guess.
I'll stick with my reliable, cheap diesel van.
Gee, I guess it'll take thousands of hours of programming to put an exit transport mode button on the screen
Why is cars fromBYD so cheap in Australia?
You should see the prices in China
Are you in Europe? The EU is investigating BYD for dumping subsidized cars. They want to protect local producers. They wanted more expensive Chinese cars, which is what they got.
Lol. Its because the simplistic thinking in Chinese is to just put more and more stuff in without thinking through the entire experience.
BYD are not Tesla and outsource the over priced service. Only Tesla had the amazing service of coming out to you.
PRTFM😂
Transport mode says what it dose on the tin
@mrmawson2438 No it does not!!
That's why i would not get a chinese car in Europe untill there is a reliable dealership network for repairs at the moment it is zero service.
Over 100 BYD dealers in Thailand already - very reliable
This electric Viking is such a fraud. BYD cars are catching on fire everywhere, yet no mention of that. No mention of air bags not working, or the explosions.
This guy would sell his own mother a byd.
Claimed 7.5km per kWh? Sure...
