Hello. I’m new to phonographs, but I’m trying to help someone with a Silvertone that has a slipping crank. I’m sure this is exactly the problem, but I don’t know how this assembly is removed in the first place. Do you have a video showing those steps? Thank you!
You can look in my videos and find one that shows how to remove the motor and motor board from The Phonograph, it will be the same steps with a silver tone. Then watch the videos on how to make sure the motor is run down before removing the spring barrel, then I have one on how to take The Springs apart.
I just got a Brunswick model 212 phonograph. It is missing several motor parts including the main coil springs. Is there any chance I can find parts or a replacement motor? Thanks for your help.
Do you have the spring barrels? If so you can order replacement mainsprings from brian@thephonographshop.com , who makes parts. Do you know what parts missing or do you actually need a whole complete motor?
I have a Brunswick 122 with the 4 spring dual barrel. In taking it apart to clean and replace the grease, I noticed the mandrel's hooking tip is snapped off on one shaft, and rounded over on another (no wonder it didn't wind well). Is it a replaceable part or any suggestions?
Contact George Vollema via email: victrola@triton.net. If possible, send him a picture and tell him just what you told me, see if he has a replacement part.
Would this be what's wrong with my alba gramophone? It winds up 20ish times which is enough to play only a 10" but not the 12inch. If you wind more than 20 times you hear what sounds like the spring popping out of place and unwinding then you have to wind it all up again. Its not loud when it does that but it is audible. Just sounds like the spring is losing its catch and unwinding inside the cylinder.
@@1974hurt I was afraid that would be the case! Unfort no local repairers here. I'm a bit nervous of springs because I have had recoil springs ping out at me before when I used to work on Lawn mowers. However ill try gain the confidence to try! Thanks for the reply!

I just bought one at an auction and it doesn’t wind up. How much do you charge to repair?
$150 per Spring barrel plus return shipping plus parts. I hope it’s not some off brand spring that has to be custom made!
How would you recommend finding a person to repair a piece like this? Are you by chance in VA? :-)
We’re in South Carolina. If it’s a spring and the Spring barrel you can always mail it.

Perfect, thank you for the reference. I enjoy all of your videos - thank you!
I have a Davis Victrola that I am trying to get working and I can't seem to find the problem and what part might be missing.
Can you send me some pictures to: dyslexicgeniushurt@gmail.com and I’ll take a look? Does the machine crank up?

Yes! It is either slipped or broken. You’re going to have to take the motor apart.
