A engine hoist always a go to for getting a 5th wheel lifted off the frame to slide it back and allows for a clean up and paint job on the frame. Then again bars work well too.

Bruce you might want to find a air assist cab jack. I had one on my cab over when I first started driving. I cant remember what year it was though. It would make tilting the cab so much easier.
Your firing order on a 60 series is 153624 it has to equal to 7 so for example you would do number 1 valves number 6 injector 5 valves 2 inj 3 valves 4 inj 6 valves 1 inj 2 valves 5 inj 4 valves 3 inj it’s vary simple

yeah your right on those bolt holes make sure you have spacers so the jakes dont hit the rockers and those wires go back on top but you gotta make sure you put them on in order it should say first or second.
Take fifth wheen frame off completely. Disc sand rust off both sides then coat both affected rails and fifth wheel frame with rust converter. That fifth wheel frame previously running over the area of where the chassis rails were extended may have been put there intentionally to add extra support to strengthen that specific joint. It may be a good idea to extend both angle lines to a length that supports both joints once again. It will be heaps more stronger than how you have made it now at least it will be as strong as it was before you tampered with it !!!

Cam controls timing and creates the pressure when the injector solenoid is closed. The longer the solenoid is closed, the more fuel is injected. To some degree, the computer can control timing as well. Newer big Cats and big electronic Cummins use a similar system. The DD15 finally got Common Rail. Have you considered decking the frame all the way to the 5th wheel?
Buy the shop manuals for that engine and for that model Freightshaker. I have done that with every truck I've owned since 1994, money well spent. It pays for itself in a short time. Heck, you can get them on a CD and print out what you need from it.
We get this stuff called copper 2 preservative that we do our low bed and gooseneck with every like 3 to 5 years super easy to apply 50/50 mix with water and spray it on with a garden sprayer i can do both trailers in about half hour our gooseneck is a 1996 and all original decking check it out if you can find it comes in clear green and brown
Bruce another great video just letting you know that the injectors are in fact mechanically activated but they are electronically metered which is why there are wires running to the injectors.
TwinStick Garage I have no experience with big trucks, but the only thing I can think of is I believe where they bought it, it was only used in that town and perhaps jakes weren’t allowed due to ordinances.
A lot of guys with stretched trucks move the mounting location of the air lines and power cord further back on the frame. Longer lines and cord are more likely to get caught on something while turning
if you ever wondered what the inside of a locomotive diesel engine looks like, its almost identical except on a massive scale. those injectors are mechanically fired. you also need an injector tool to set the injectors, looks like a small pick tool. very interesting and good engines.
Advisory. Cut two bits of angle join to the 5th wheel angle to cover the exposed Join Then then you have Protected the other weld-on stretch. you have increased the pressure on the join Must Be compensated For. Zinc coat the welded area.
There is an offset idler pulley kit available for the AC belt/pulley but you'll have to buy a longer belt to use with it. It will allow at least another 2/3 surface contact on the compressor pulley by pulling the belt angle back upwards on the bottom side. If you can't find the kit you can make one.
Hey Bruce next time u go to the truck graveyard again could u see if they have any pete 352 cabovers,or kenworth k100 or 123. But blue collar is turning out good. Cabover trucks is where it is anymore as far as restorations.

Used engine oil contains large amounts of sulfur which causes damage to wooden parts. The second negative is that it dirty everything for a long time, especially when the sun warms it. A good wood impregnation will do the trick and give a nice effect. greetings

Try to flush out the solenoids to make sure there's no trash in them check all the solenoid spring to make sure you don't have a broke one jake brakes on the series 60 sometimes get oil on the connectors and they lose connection intermittently

I think you were maybe swinging into landing gear of trailers set up for single axle tractors, i.e pup trailers.... maybe not, that 5th was where it was because it probably worked with 48' and 53' trls...just an idea
It had been stretched, had a PTO added, and was dedicated to a bulk cement tank trailer that set way back. That tractor has not been hooked to a regular trailer for many years.

You need to swap out that transmission to get those higher speeds. Either a 13spd or 15spd. Find out your rear end ratios. Juice'in up the engine not going to get you speed only power.
Nowhere in the entire video did he talk about speed. A jake is the exhaust brake which he is wanting to put back on after the pervious owner removed it. Truck is fine and just need to be left alone. Just do whatever maintenance which he should take to a mechanic who knows these engines well. Just ask to shadow him without a camera in his face.

Now that you gave so much space. Between the fuel tanks and the rear tandems you can put youa nice polished aluminum side box on it for tools and chains for tie downs
Everything is fine except you still have the stacks mounted on the headache rack. Go back to the junkyard and get the right exhaust mounts off of one of the other Freightliner Cabovers. Make it right.
Let me get this right. You buy a trailer with the king pin set up for a single axle tractor. So you move the 5th wheel back to accommodate the trailer, that now you are selling because it's too short. Going to a 48'er means you could have left the 5th wheel where it was. Just maybe you need to think your projects through instead of doing them on the fly.

Make sure the wire is tight in the connectors that go onto the Jake spools. Your Jakes will flutter and not work right if there's any play in the connection. Jakes added weight aren't worth worrying about.
ya and when you cut that beam of with the torch ever one of those sparks that hit the paint is going to rust in no time that area is going to need a complete strip and repaint

Those injectors are a electronically controlled, mechanically actuated injector. Meaning the injector is still mechanical fired, but the amount of fuel is electronically controlled by the solenoid on the injector
Bruce run hard lines for your airlines down the frame rail and put pogo stick closer to fifth wheel and extend the electrical the same way that makes it look better you could run them to the back of the frame to make it come up under the trailer and fix your trailer lines the same keeps every thing out of sight ask the guy at the truck junk yard about it

The wood on the trailer deck use old diesel engine oil a couple of coats and that'll make it last forever and it's free!!!😉😁😁

You need an overhead crane/hoist in that shop! A must when working on heavy trucks/equipment.
Yea the blocks on these engines are a the weight of a car and I wouldnt wanna see someone hurt trying to make content.
1/2 inch piece of plywood on the back rails behind the fifth wheel. Flip it over onto its face and clean up the frame then flip it back.

Best stuff for wood decks, I mix 50/50 oil(used or new engine oil) diesel mix and use a roller to spread it on the deck.

Nowhere in the entire video did he talk about speed. A jake is the exhaust brake which he is wanting to put back on after the pervious owner removed it. Truck is fine and just need to be left alone. Just do whatever maintenance which he should take to a mechanic who knows these engines well. Just ask to shadow him without a camera in his face.

5th wheels are swapped all the time. My money is on thats not the original 5th wheel anywaus as they wear out over time anyways.
Now that you gave so much space. Between the fuel tanks and the rear tandems you can put youa nice polished aluminum side box on it for tools and chains for tie downs

Everything is fine except you still have the stacks mounted on the headache rack. Go back to the junkyard and get the right exhaust mounts off of one of the other Freightliner Cabovers. Make it right.
Let me get this right. You buy a trailer with the king pin set up for a single axle tractor. So you move the 5th wheel back to accommodate the trailer, that now you are selling because it's too short. Going to a 48'er means you could have left the 5th wheel where it was. Just maybe you need to think your projects through instead of doing them on the fly.

Yep, I agree. I'm a 30yr hvy haul mechanic that thought it would be fun to watch and maybe help. Turns out he doesn't listen. It is too much of a cringe factor now. If he ever crosses paths with the right DOT officer, he's fried.

Make sure the wire is tight in the connectors that go onto the Jake spools. Your Jakes will flutter and not work right if there's any play in the connection. Jakes added weight aren't worth worrying about.

Scott the bus grease monkey can help you Detroit is his special ability he is gifted Detroit guy. He is good at those engines. Tuning and adjustments and rebuilds.
Those injectors are a electronically controlled, mechanically actuated injector. Meaning the injector is still mechanical fired, but the amount of fuel is electronically controlled by the solenoid on the injector
Bruce run hard lines for your airlines down the frame rail and put pogo stick closer to fifth wheel and extend the electrical the same way that makes it look better you could run them to the back of the frame to make it come up under the trailer and fix your trailer lines the same keeps every thing out of sight ask the guy at the truck junk yard about it
You should get a piece of angle iron to put over the frame where they stretched it.

I agree with you, but I am sure that Warren wouldn't have the time of the day for Bruce, especially after watching a few of Bruce's videos.
But Bruce does seriously needs to get knowledgeable help. He is in way too deep in my opinion. These are not little recreational trucks that he is playing with.
I ve made comments that were completely ignored and seen many others leaving comments that Bruce needed to take and simply also ignored. Each video, Bruce would invite comments from the people and yet just simply never read or left a comment. .
I just hope that he doesn't drive these trucks until they are completed and are safe to drive.
I do not know what purpose he has for any of these trucks, I never heard what work he has planned for them. Surely he didn't purchase the trucks to just make a few RUclips videos? If so, then he has spent a lot of money and taken trucks away from the work sector.
I subbed at the first cabover. .and continued to watch, hoping that he was going to be a excellent channel like Warren's channel or like TwinStick Garage.
