What is the purpose of scraping the joint after grinding it? (before welding)

Hi👋 there's a few reasons, The angle of the chamfer can be fine tuned with the scraper, any swarf can be scraped away and also the end result is neater, the weld was scraped off on this occasion but its always a better finish welding onto a smooth surface.

What kind of knife are you scraping the plastic with? Would that work with any'ol pocket knife or do you got any recommendations?

Hi, the scraper is made from an old donkey saw blade and is just sharpened and shaped on a stone grinder, its around a 10 minute job to complete, you could use any HSS steel to make a one, hope that's helpful, if you have anymore questions let me know and il get back to you 👍
