Celtic Holiday Samhain the night where we celebrate our ancestors, the season, and each other for the winter to come. A time for friendship, grateful for the harvest and celebrating.
"Young men painted their faces and went to villages for mischief" That is oddly similar to an old obscure tradition in Black Sea.At the day of kalandar (January 13th) children painted their faces black with ash and knocked doors saying: "Karakoncolos, Karakoncolos has came to your door, has saluted your house. If you don't take his salute, he will shit on your door." If they open the door children hit them with a piece of wood and run if they don't they would shat on the door as they said.
Mate, if you haven’t yet gotten around to investigating “Heaven’s Vault” I really do think you would enjoy it. Just look it up and see what’s it’s about at least.
When I think of my Irish relatives carving Jack o lanterns out of turnips ,they go up more in my estimation each time, I can't even cut them for cooking !!
NOT THE COMPLETE ORIGINS OF HALLOWEEN. Please check out Cosmic origins of Halloween by Randall Carlson. There are meteorological reasons everyone on earth from North and south of the equator has a Halloween tradition. Still a nice collection of the developed Halloween tradition but not the origins.
I'm not a religious man but I had to pause and take a screenshot of the Jesus face pumpkin! Whoever did that is talented! Amazing. Anyway back to the video.....
How informative! Any excuse to commit meager impersonation and mundane theft I'm in! I wonder if you won't do other holidays too! Would love to get the schtick on all the feasts, festivals, and holy-days around the globe!
You are really missing out on so many points here.... I example the turnip / with the face was from Ireland is being jack o lantern who was to walk the earth forever
Pagan Halloween does sound like a fun time. Except for the werewolves. I left out that bit. But there was a reason they carried torches and dressed up!
One Irish king try to make Halloween pagan way before Christianity became a thing. Introducing human sacrifice didn't sit well and said the king was murdered for it.
I would like to firmly apologize. I thought I liked this video but when I went back to share it with friends I saw I misclicked and disliked it. This mistake has been rectified, but my shame is eternal.

You pronounced Samhain incorrectly fyi
Samhain is pronounced "sau-an".
I've also see it as Sah ween and Saw win. I suspect it's one of those words with varied regional pronunciation.
@@codybonds In Irish is is actually pronounced Sow-in. Sow as in a female pig not sowing seeds
Make Halloween pagan again.

It's surprising how many of those old Celtic traditions held over into Christianity.
@@codybonds they weren’t “held over into Christianity” they were stolen, while our traditions died with the people who tried to take them back.
I pray the Blood Of Jesus and saving knowledge over everyone who reads this.
