Nasty looking place.
I hired in to work on Zug island in 1987. And I retired 2019. It was the hardest work of my life.
what was it like?
what it was like , depends on the job .
Thanks for making all these videos. Love them
You're very welcome!
The Detroit World Fair in 18 something is what brought me here , that’s what this place was before ...
With ground security so tight in and around Zug Island, I'm surprised that your drone wasn't shot down by anti-aircraft bazookas or hand-held ground to air missile launchers. Great air views 👏. Now we know how the Guinness World of Records' most polluted land mass in the United States looks like 👍.
It wouldn't suprise me. The bridge security are crazy.
Wow it is😮
It was crazy when I drove there. I tried to go down Zug Island Drive but security kept deiving around. I almost got caught for not even being on the island just an abandoned area on the outside.
They have classes on shoreline security and a special id for employees to be near the shore .
TWIC card , maritime security identification card .
Employees are supposed to report if they see anyone with a camera .
The island was created when Henry Ford had a straight channel dredged from the Detroit River to his Rouge Steel complex. One winter, I was working at the Rouge Power House (It's located on the south side of the island). The river ice was so heavy. A tugboat left the channel trying to push a fuel oil barge up river. Once the tug/barge got into the river ice it was pushed downriver. It took the barge 6 hrs to force its way back into the channel.
As odd as it sounds, I actually would live on Zug Island if it was possible. I'd live on the western edge where it is undeveloped and still wooded.
That wouldn't be healthy though.
@@michaelanthonyvideos So is smoking and drinking but I'm happy and well!
Lot of employees practically do live in the plant , and get paid
TWIC card , coastal security identification .
