    Great Review Elmo! I play mostly Blues/Rock and Love the SD-1 and the last pedal with built in Noise Gate. I love P-90s and the Gate would be one less Pedal on my Board. Please keep up the Good Work and Cheers from Salem, Ohio USA.

    The Revv G2 is one to consider. I got it on a trade and didn't really give it too much attention but when I did I discovered that this was my new favorite overdrive very quickly. It covers a lot of territory and sound amazing. The Timmy is my second go to overdrive as well as a Klone but I always found something really special about the Timmy.

    Great video! I have the ODR1, Riverside, and Sunset snd like you, I absolutely love the Riverside. The Sunset is definitely more versatile but the Riverside is the keeper of the two. The ODR1 is also excellent and I stack it ahead of both the Strymons as well as two other drives (Friedman Smallbox and Nordland ODT-C). I know I know, I might have too many drives on my board but I just love them all so much!

    The only pedal I think you may have missed is the Tumnus deluxe by Wampler. The Tumnus mini is good, the deluxe is another level though. It adds a very potent eq with a ton of range to it, and a high gain option that makes it super versatile. It stacks exceptionally well with other pedals to- and has a ton of headroom if you want to use it as a boost. The eq comes in handy for that option as well- lets you dial out the low end flubbiness. I really like it, it's a Klon clone, but it's the most versatile, best sounding Klon clone I've ever played.
    I'm really interested in the JHS OD Preamp you showed- the DOD 250 tribute. It looks interesting and it's highly collectible so you know it will hold its value and resell easily if that becomes necessary. That said- I hate to sacrifice that much board space for something I doubt I'll use as much as I use the Tumnus already. Besides, I've got too many ODs- I need a few distortion pedals.

      @MrPolevaulter can't recommend it enough. The tones are amazing and having the three band EQ really lots you dial in a lot of different tones. Then you add in the ISF dial and it really opens up.

    Oh my gosh! the SL-OD sounds JUST LIKE those ubiquitous Steve Lukather tones! I'm actually pretty amazed. It seems like anyone whose heard TOTO enough should be able to spot those. I'm quite surprised by this. You could even kind of play a game and match the tonal variations with the songs he may have played them on. The thing is I've always loved those and I might actually have to get it.

    Any pedals that you missed? There are thousands of pedals. You can't help but miss some. Some are very limited production done in someone's garage or shed out back and they only made three because that's all the coffee cans they had. Some are like the Tube Screamer and have spawned a dozen copies which sound the same. Thanks for showing these overdrive pedals.

    What are the best modeling amps in the world? I have a Fender Mustang GTX 100 and I'm pretty satisfied with it, but I feel like there's something lacking in the tone. What could be better? Or should I get a small tube amp that I can crank up?

    • @thefrogking481
      @thefrogking481 Год назад +1

      Modeling Amps are good to discover which tones you as a player enjoy. But, while they're cool they don't exactly do any one thing exceptional.
      My advice (as an older player) would be to focus on your playing more than the tones. Yeah, the tones make practice more enjoyable sometimes, but nothing replaces theroy and endless practice.
      Jam on man, and good luck.

    Great overdrive selection and excellent performance Elmo!
    I also have and I really love the Riverside. What do you think about People complaining that it sounds digital or sterile or doesn’t have the punch of an analog overdrive? In my own experience I can say the Riverside has his own character and personality sound and it different from others. I have more than 100 overdrives and the Strymon Riverside sounds phenomenal and I will never compare it to analog drives because to me that’s not the point knowing the pedal has hybrid technology and digital components. To each his own.
