Bummer you did not get a clear view of Hood when you did Lost Lake Butte. I think the view is worth it IMO. There is also the trail around Lost Lake which is pretty good. Lot's of great views of Hood. I did the Timberline Trail last year and I loved hiking through Elk Cove. Unfortunately there were clouds around Hood when I got to Gnarl Ridge but that's the way it goes sometimes.
When I did the timberline loop I had clouds over hood at gnarl ridge too so I had to go back. So epic!! The lost lake loop is perfection, I loved that one.
