Thank you, I got trekking polls 20 years ago but they have hard plastic grips and different closers. There are so many to choose from now.

Enjoyed the video. I have had both aluminum and carbon fiber. Aluminum holds up better, but I like the lightness of carbon fiber. They flow better for me when in the hiking grove. They are also much warmer to the touch when it’s chilly out.

Wait, you mean people use things other than old sticks that look like a wizard's staff? 😅 Thanks for the great info, as usual! Hope you're healing well. 😊

I've found a hiking staff, longer than treking poles, is better for downhill hiking and stream crossing on a log. It is a little more cumbersome, but you can also customise it to suit your purpose. Anyway, just a thought.

I like being able to fold it up and put it away when I don't need the pole or it becomes cumbersome.

Great vlog. I have two knee replacements and have just started walking 4 to 5 miles daily. I started using trekking poles for Nordic walking. Not only do they take the stress off my knees and hips, but give me a full body workout. Do you know anything about Nordic poles vs trekking poles?

From what I have gathered from my dad who does Nordic skiing is that Nordic poles don’t collapse and I think this makes them more sturdy.

Trekking poles allow me to do solo hikes in places I wouldn't dare on my own due to my poor balance. They also saved me yesterday when I took a bad step on my bad knee on a downhill and had to lean heavily on them for the rest of my return trip (my knee is fine today! Yay!). I recently got the OV trekking pole tent you mentioned and love the option to cut down on weight that way, since I carry poles anyway.
Have you found them helpful during your recovery?

Yes I could not have done the hikes I had been doing before surgery without a pole. I leaned on it heavily. Now post surgery I took two poles and felt like I definitely needed them.
