Let's Explore the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet

- Let's take a full and detailed look around the new Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet in the game reserve in which we have been based for our South African safari experience to launch the car.
Joining Mercedes for the launch of the new G Class based machine in the Madikwe Game Reserve on the border with Botswana has been arguably the experience of my lifetime. The Landaulet houses the engine of the G65 AMG, the structure of an extended 4x4^2 and almost looks of the G63 AMG 6x6 combined with the opening rear section made famous by previous generations of Landaulet.
Only 99 units of the G650 will be built, available in Europe, Middle-East and Russian markets with pricing information to follow at the Geneva motorshow where the car officially marks its debut.
I cannot thank Mercedes enough for the invitation to join them at this fantastic event to mark the launch of the new car.

Still dont like the screen setups in the AMG's they are i dunno like out dated looking and cheap. For all the money this thing is going to cost, Mercedes couldn't make the dash carbon fiber and integrate a screen into it?
I hate the new Merc screen setups too but I think they just wanted to do something different. Everyone has recessed screens, some have retractable screens, Mercedes has screens that don't realize they aren't supposed to be the star of the show. I think to stand out the screens should be behind a surface that doesn't appear to be a screen until it's turned on. THAT would be different and sleek!
I think the screen are the most futuristic feature. But everyone has an opinion
I am fed up of carbon fiber for the sake of it. It may be expensive, but it looks so cheap and tacky when used as a garnish.

Carbon fiber makes sense in some cars, supercars, hypercars. But i would never, never spec a S-class interior with carbon. Smh
Every single one of these would be bespoke so if you didn't want the carbon you could swap it out. I agree that carbon has had it's day when it's used purely for decoration.

the system is called magic sky control, there are little particles wich gets closer to each other (blind) when set under electricity. The system is 15 years old, was invented in the Maybach 52 from 2002.

Interesting reporting about an unusual vehicle. You DO find the rarities!
I like the idea of this (no one "needs" something like this, but hey if you have the cash, why not?!) but I think the execution leaves me lukewarm. Being a Maybach I would ditch the carbon fiber (exterior bits could be chrome, interior bits should be wood), and the wheels could have been a lot more special and bespoke (not just polished 4x4 squared wheels). Finally the spare wheel should have a cover befitting a Maybach. I have a feeling all of these changes can be had, but they should have been in the press launch vehicles to really up the exclusiveness, much like MB did when they launched the MB-Maybach S600.
Hey @shemee150 Is it a success cause turning a g wagon ( which stands for stiffness pur )into a luxurious van seems a bit risky . So is it comfortable but still feels like and has the characteristics off a "normal " g class ?

If it's possible to have one with panoramic sunroof option in the rear, that would be amazing.
That is the real maybach i was looking for where roof top at the rear opens up. They should also implement the same in mercedes maybach S600 and S650 and their other upcoming maybach cars.

Why is the G650 Landaulet’s top speed limited to only 112mph? Even Mercedes themselves claimed that it would be capable of at least 150mph, yet because of that limiter, it actually has a lower top speed than a 1.6-litre petrol Fiesta Zetec S, and that has less than a fifth of the power of the G650!
What other Mercedes has seats as good as those that is cheap for example can you get some like them in a GLC or other models I want that interior

Sgd On cars it really looks like the designo seats so on most of the SUV's and E,C or CLS it should be available I think
Sgd On cars you can always think about a CLS, which has a nice back central console but no other Mercedes than G and S have powered seats. But the heated, aired seats exist on most models. You can also have television packs : 5 grand for the most expensive (I have them in m'y CLS) and 2 grand for the cheap ones. Otherwise the Maybach 57s has depreciated like crazy, I found one worth 50k !
