The problem is when folks give folks money,they most times encourage the homeless behavior and there becomes more and more of them.When one subsidises terrible behaviour there becomes more of it. I personally like to give to Christian groups who require the homeless to put down their bottle and drugs,then take them in and try to help them get off the sfuff. I once was sitting at subways with my son and this guy came in and was asking people for a sandwich because he was hungry and everyone looked at him with disgust I just got up and offered to buy him a sandwich without any hesitation and my son looked at me and said mom you don’t know him, he’s a stranger ! I said I don’t need to know him to feed him or anyone because we never know when we can be in his shoes and would want someone to help us and It’s the right thing to do. My son smiled at me and said your a great mom! But what I didn’t tell him was that many years before he was born I was living in a furnished room and I only had enough money to pay my rent and for almost two weeks I barely could afford to eat anything. I know that feeling all too well. It’s so sad how a lot of people don’t have heart!

My dad pulled his wallet out to give some money to a homeless person once when I was a kid and he got robbed by them. It’s not always that people aren’t kind, they could be afraid.
I agree that some people do look genuinely concerned but if you look at some they look disgusted. That’s an odd place to be in life, where you show disdain for others. Life isn’t that long even if one lives to 100, why not be kind? Of course be safe but don’t look down on others who seem to have less because they could actually be richer than the person with money. Last time someone asked me for money because they were hungry, I gave her $20. She didn't buy any food and continued to ask other people for money. After that I realized just giving money isn't the best way. Offer to buy them some food instead if they say they need it for food.

HEART PROBLEMS,
FREQUENT VERTIGO,
amongst other health problems,
I still go out every chance I can:
"PICKING UP CANS,
LOOKING FOR CARS TO FIX,
EDGING SIDEWALKS with a
(Carnivore-X machete)
(NOT a weapon, but as a Tool).
But I'm currently sidelined and in a WHEELCHAIR due to a
"STROKE, and a SEIZURE"
I had two months ago.
And as soon as I get an operation on my back to unpinch a SCIATIC NERVE in three places and fix two discs in my back that went out of place from when I fell (due to the stroke, SEIZURE):
"I WILL BE BACK OUT THERE HUNTING FOR VEHICLES, MOTORCYCLES ,BIKES,

For what it's worth, a lot of people legitimately don't carry cash on them, or don't want to be scammed. Most of them are probably selfish but some might have an honest reason

Life isn’t that long even if one lives to 100, why not be kind? Of course be safe but don’t look down on others who seem to have less because they could actually be richer than the person with money. Last time someone asked me for money because they were hungry, I gave her $20. She didn't buy any food and continued to ask other people for money. After that I realized just giving money isn't the best way. Offer to buy them some food instead if they say they need it for food.

There are probably thousands of that lady around in major cities but there are usually no hidden cameras to record them. I volunteered for years at a food bank but there were only security cameras to catch thieves but not good deeds 😂

When my son was younger. I always had to walk around with cash because he would say you have money on you and give it to the homeless people. The sweetest. He is 15 now and just recently he walked this lady to his school to see if she could get a job. He started to talk to her and she told him she lost everything.
It's not the monetary amount of dollar that holds people back. It's the lack of love and empathy from helping anyone in distress.
