  • This video features the cabling side of an electric conversion from Volvo Penta diesel engines to Torqeedo Cruise 12.0 FP motors. It was a big project that we condensed to a five minute video.
The crew of s/v irie cat has created a series of videos rediscovering the beauty of The Bahamas from above and below the water along with a few project videos.

Please keep us posted. How are the motors performing now? In your opinion would E-Propulsion pods 6.0 be enough power for your boat? I have a Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 ft. It is due for both engine overhauls. I was planning to convert to E-tech pods or Torquito. Your videos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your comment and sorry for the delayed reply. We will do an update video soon but all is going well. In our opinion 6.0 pods should work well for your boat. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

What are you doing for your hot water heater now, I have both my motors installed, thinking of doing the solar dump for my hot water but don't know where to get a 48 volt heater element.

We removed our hot water heater four years ago. Most of our time is spent in the S. When it is cold out the shower turns into cold water therapy, lol! Your idea sounds good. I’m not sure where you find the element.

Curious how the specs compare with the diesels? Speed, range? How many watts do the motors draw at cruise?

Thank you for the comment and sorry for the delayed reply. Hard for us to compare because we now have folding props vs. fixed props on our diesels. It feels like we have more power and more speed but less range with just motors. We cruise at 4knots and use just under 2kw. We sail 95% of the time.

Wow, 2Kw doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the reply. @@sviriecat
