Turning 18 this month, my life still going on normally with some pressure but everything is still under control. But im still here to think about my childhood memories, those that i could never ever get back. Once you get to that age where you have to worry about everything, man i miss those days where you just wake up and enjoy your life, being free, not feeling tired and playful. Realizing how valuable our childhood is makes me wanna give my future kids the same feeling i felt, more happy if possible. Cause its only a 1 time experience and its not for long. I hope everyone reading this could live a happy life :) and be more positive

I used to wake up and cry as a kid, my father at that time was not understanding of my anxiety or depression, I mean I wasn't some golden victim either I smoked and stole money, often ended up in schools therapy class where I lied and got off early, now I wake up and give my dad a big hug every day he is so much more understanding and he started taking care of his angre issues too and I quit smoking in return hey we do smoke together sometimes now that I am 18 but we're so much more closer and open minded towards eachothers issues.

this song honestly makes me remember how many bad things have gone in my life. it feels like someone is pointing out all the things wrong in my life, or just anything wrong with me, yet i still manage to think of them. they are my good thing in my life. they are what drives me to do good. they are the only one who enjoys listening to me. they are the only ones who enjoys my company. no one else told me, mars, i love you, with a genuine reassuring smile. just knowing that they are alive, is enough. i’ve never felt as if i am enough. i have always pushed myself down. i have always told myself, if you don’t do it right the first time, you failed. but things have changed since i met them. it feels as if we are the only people on the world, and all we want to do is just be there for each other. i was always a moon, growing up too fast, but they brought out my sun, and let me child run free and happy.
why do i overwork myself so much? why don’t i say no? why do i dedicate my whole life to pleasing other people? i wish i could do what i wanted for once. but now, i don’t even know what i want in life anymore.
earlier in the week, i was voted for student council. i remember my feeling of joy - my feeling of actually being loved. people voted me - people thought i would be good at it. people liked me. i remember the realisation hitting me, how i was so confused. _why me?_ i thought. and then i was asked to write a speech to say in front of the whole school on the last day before winter break. i excitedly said yes. but the same question was swirling through my head. _why me?_
I went home and cried my eyes out that day. i didn’t want to say the speech. i have horrible social anxiety and i hate doing big speeches like that. but yet, I still said yes cuz i didn’t want to let people down.
i didn’t want to be student council representative. i like doing that sort of stuff, but I knew I’d overwork myself and I’m not much of a leader, either. but yet I still said yes to both of those things, because I wanted to make others happy.

This hits home. My social anxiety often causes me to miss out on opportunities, which I compensate for by overworking myself and being a people pleaser. I rlly feel you :,)
Sometimes I believe the way people perceive me more than how I perceive myself, and I end up trying so hard to fit this image so that I wouldn't disappoint others. I've realized that no matter how much I'm able to please others, I might never satisfy myself because I keep wishing that I did better.
One time I got lucky enough to be teamed up with someone who I saw as an inspiration and wanted to work with for a long time. Instead of feeling happy as I was supposed to, I felt knots in my stomach as I imagined how badly I would have to overwork myself just to live up to their expectations. I'd rather deprive myself of sleep than to see disappointment in the eyes of someone that I look up to. I burst into tears that day.
I also wondered "why me" when there are others who could've done a better job. I think at some point I became more fixated on helping this person and making them happy rather than just doing my part of the work. We ended up not getting the grade we deserved because our performance was tarnished by other members who had not done their parts properly. My fear became a reality when I saw the pure disappointment written all over that person's face. I knew it wasn't directed at me, and that I've done my best, but I still felt guilty.
I wish I had simply said "no" even if it was to the person I looked up to the most. Not saying what I truly wanted has cost me my motivation and so many hours of sleep.
And yet I still wonder...why me?

My nan passed away in hospital recently. I didn't go and see her because I myself was sick and didn't fully know the condition she was in and how long she had left. When I first started liking my guy friend, I associated this song with him. That was May 2021.
