this video rescued me. I discovered this in early august of last year, when I had just gone through a really tough breakup. my gf at the time was starting to get really manipulative, she would tell me if i didnt do xyz she would run my twin hamsters over (they were a gift from my mom so she knows they are special to me), sometimes even just dumb stuff like i didnt want to doordash that day because i didnt have the money or i wanted to save the money for something else. i always did what she wanted just bc i loved her and my hamsters too much to think it was worth fighting over. i became borderline obsessed with howls moving castle as a sort of coping mechanism and would imagine myself dancing to this song with someone- and i realized that someone wasnt my gf but instead someone who looked a lot like howl (just with short red curls instead and as a girl) and i felt like this was just a sign that i needed to break up with my gf and find the girl i saw in my mind.
now today in 2023 i've found my howl :) she looks nothing like howl or even the howl i described in my imagination, but i know we are soulmates. we dance to this version in our kitchen with my hamsters now. seriously, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Knowing ones purpose and where we’re going and what are the ways of living to hopefully enter jannah/heaven removes a huge burden on ones shoulder as you know with all your heart the answers to all of these life’s difficult questions. With many proofs/facts and evidence to back it up even proof in ones own life there’s many signs too that play out

This scene always made me want to cry so much. Even though Sophie was cursed and looked old, Howl saw her beauty on the inside and loved her for that. And their love was so strong that it broke the curse, which I find so beautiful.

actually, the scenes where we saw her look younger were how he viewed her hhh. He wasn't tricked by the magic and knew how she looked like instantly so all the times we saw young sophie with white hair was what he was seeing

Sophie was cursed to look like an old woman because that's what she believed herself to essentially be, just an old hatter. When she embraces her vitality, her beauty shines outwards, revealing her truest self.

I absolutely love this movie. The theme song, the fact that howl found love in Sophie even though she was old.. the fantasy and comfort that lays in this movie is extremely amazing. I’d do anything to live in a place like theirs, it’s literally like a day dream..

Theres so much unappreciated beauty put into ghibli movies its unbelievable, from the plots to the soundtrack, everything is just so calming. It really gives you a sense of comfort and relief in a way. Ghibli movies will just always have my entire heart. Something about this particular song makes me want to cry but also fro lock in a grassy meadow plauged with flowers. Its indeed, beautiful.

This brought me to tears because the person I truly love is the one that showed me this movie.
Very unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Howl’s Moving Castle is one of “the best” Ghibli films. The animation is just stunning, as well as the visuals, but to me the story seems a bit left without context. They left this movie with a few plot holes. When I read the book, a lot more made sense, even though the movie didn’t adapt everything shown in the novel. I feel like they could’ve summed up the context more, without making it seemed rush; it would’ve been much more enjoyable that way. Nonetheless, it’s still a gorgeous film with a beautiful OST. 👏

i once thought that too, but then I rewatched it for the fourth time with my mom beside me while I explained what was happening in broken viet and somehow the movie rang even deeper for me and it's now my fav ghibli film lol
the first time i watched it i was kind of confused because i didn't pay attention to so many details but the second time i watched it, i understood it a little bit better and absolutely loved it
as a massive fan of howl's moving castle, I just want to reassure you from any nervousness from posting this that this criticism is absolutely wonderful and completely necessary. we can't actually enjoy a piece of media if we all keep acting like it's perfect- we'd just be lying to ourselves. no movie is perfect. no anime, no cartoon, no book, no anything. the expectation that there will be something that was done so flawlessly is harmful in countless ways, from "needing" to mimic it to the point of stifling personal creativity and learning, to bashing people who simply didn't like it- it's all subjective. there is beauty within imperfection, and that is the potential to grow, that there can be even better. your opinion isn't just unpopular, it's often downright ignored.
There’s something about this music that just creates a sense of… peace. Like… the memory of being a child in the summer. Pure happiness, pure joy. Every time I listen to this music, I just feel at peace, with all the ills of the world forgotten, if only just for a moment. A promise of an even brighter, more beautiful tomorrow.
i really like howl’s moving castle the bottom of my heart because i just like all the things in the movie, characters, landscapes, music, the vibes of it and it comforts me so much that i want to cry, i love all the messages it’s transmitting and i’m a very stressful person so just listening to the ost relaxes me so much and everytime i’m listening to this beautiful masterpiece i’m like in another galaxy or universe
