I'm becoming a true fan of FCP, and I'm not ashamed to say it's because the rock drums behind jazz bass & piano with strings layered over the top bears more than a passing resemblance to Supertramp, another band criminally underappreciated during their most prolific era.
100% their drummer is a god and uplifts this track so much. Im glad we live in an era of music that doesnt conform to what 'kind' of drums, bass, instruments have to work together or conform to a specific style. Drummer is going absolutely ham while theres beautiful long strings and killer piano melodies
@@wowiwhwbw Ambientation music shouldn't be so dynamic, even for a "big futuristic city" there's too much going on here. This song is dynamic and conveys a lot of movement, which wouldn't fit for scenery music.
I was so excited to see these guys live at Fuji Rock, but then I ran myself off the rails on Vodka and overslept and missed the performance, absolutely devastated.
"koi no yokan" - the feeling of knowing you'll eventually fall in love with someone or something you just encountered. I haven't fallen in love with this song at first listen, but I know I eventually will.
Ever since I found this song several years ago, it captured me! I couldn't stop listening to it, it was a masterpiece truly. Even years forward I find myself listening to it and still being overtaken by emotion. It is truly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever had the chance to listen to!
You know. I have held back from saying this on every other japanese soundtrack video ever made, but as both an anime & video game fan and classical & jazz fan, I've found the difference in both groups' execution of music lies in their tendencies to either push the boundary of music theory or hide sheepishly in the safety of pentatonics; Japanese music especially. It's not so much that I dislike or am "unfond" of the style; if anything, I'm a huge fan of anime openings or game soundtracks and how catchy/fun they can be (And complex, rhythmically, at times). But melodically, I see an untapped vein that could expand this type of music into something even more interesting. I could break down the chord progression of this song, but frankly this is a bit of a "spur of the moment" comment. Point is, you'll notice that many Japanese songs stick VERY closely to a specific chord pattern, rarely deviating except in the case of an augmentation or shift upwards along the songs' I, IV, V structure. It's not quite the same in this song, but at around 4:00, you can notice the band trying to inject something different into the song, but ultimately just shifting the existing melodic pattern "upwards". Pentatonics refer to the I, II, III, IV, V chord "options", if you will, in a certain key, the overadherence to which sometimes makes songs predictable, in a harmonically satisfying kind of way, yes, but when over-used, more of an almost disappointing step back from the ledge of innovation kind of way. Shit. Didn't mean to be that guy, gents. But I just felt I had to share somewhere. If anyone else feels like they've begun to notice a pattern in something they love, feel free to dump it here lol
No worries dude, there's always going to be someone hating on your comments no matter what you criticize. I try not to worry about it too much. And I felt this song was very repetitive as well. Initially I liked it a lot, but it just gets old after a while. If you like this Japanese sound / style, but want something a bit more interesting, check out mouse on the keys. I think you might appreciate them a lot.
This is basically the Scarlet Nexus soundtrack only less electronic. It makes me so sad seeing music like this because I can only imagine how amazing it would be if it was in a videogame. That would be so awesome to vibe to this will saving the world from an evil god as a bunch of Japanese teenagers.
the fucking drummer is just out of this world
Man that drummer though
Man that all of those guys tho
Right!
Absolutely insane. This is incredible!

Just one of a number of ridiculously talented jazz groups from japan.

Seriously. Immaculate crescendo.
What a phenomenal tune. The composition ensured each rhythm, key and string part meshed flawlessly.
