That or they were inspired by the Korean "game" Dong Chim combined with the Japanese kappa which was said to steal a person's soul through the victim's anus.
marika's village's lore is really interesting because her people were used to be tortured and mutilated and fit into jars. the monstrosities you see in the gaols in the dlc are what becomes of the people put in there. that's why her village is so empty. they were all taken away and killed. that is why messmer is here in the lands enacting the same suffering and more upon the people who did this to marika's village
My favorite thing about Metyr's weapon is that the skill implies that the head is STILL ALIVE. You're just beating people to death with someone's face, and they're REALLY not happy about it.
Fun fact: the soundtrack in the later half of the metyr fight has the first ever recording of a black hole in the background. It’s that low drone kind of noise
Loving the series as ever, can't believe you managed to avoid the stupid worm combo of stunning and then head eating teleport in the second finger ruins. Was doing my head in. Keep up the good work
The hornsent took the shamans from Marikas home village. Tortured them and shoved them into jars, then Marika went through the process to become a god and had messmer genocide the hornsent for what they did
Thank god that Cotton likes to read descriptions. Other than the tree people guess, he's been spot on when it comes to understanding what's happening. edit: A miss on the Anti-Marika and Occultation guess. Other than that though, pretty spot on.
2:43 last time you were there, the camera had her in the frame - and i saw her. how come you didn't? 7:29-7:33 correct! and the Minor Erdtree incantation is used by Melina, during the battle with Morgott. in other words, those who saw Melina's moves during the fight with Morgott, and read the description of the very same attack, will have confirmation that she's one of Marika's daughters. 9:53 my immediate thought, exactly. 10:06-10:17 agreed. the lore hunters better try things with the Minor Erdtree incantation. at lesat, i hope Vaativydia and Hawkshaw do. 16:18 HAH! OKAY!! Metyr is crazier than i thought! i don't remember seeing all that in Jacksepticeye's playthrough. 30:54-31:26 that's right: Cotton can now *finger* his enemies (the joke basically wrote itself)! AND he gets to carry over his "head on a stick for weapon" memo from Monster Hunter!
To address your first point, it is something known as tunnel vision. Basically, you're so focused on what is directly in front of you that everything else goes unnoticed. It seems to be a bit of an issue with most gaming channels.
@@leviosdraekion6993tunnel vision? THAT's how they missed Jolàn? any player who visits the first time would look around. *groan* i agree: it's a problem.
The shaman village said to be Marika's home is thought by the lore collectors of Elden Ring to be one of two things. Either the home where the Numen set up shop when they first arrived in The Lands Between, or the birthplace of Marika herself. The lore as far as they've seen so far doesnt state which one it is though.
9:04 as far as I can tell the land of shadow used to be part of the lands between, as one of the towers you can climb says that it used to be the centre of the lands between, so I assume it was sat where the cloud is on the lands between map.
@MonsterHunterxRWBY I did use mimic tear but switching to rivers is what got the job done. She wasn't even in the top 5 of hardest bosses for me but she was still tough.
im now imagining the beginning of the next video having cottons and josh's elden ring characters superimposed over the generations ultimate gathering hub. for reasons i wont elaborate to because that may be spoilers for some who havent finished the episode but god that would be funny
I’m starting to see a pattern of both gold and sorcery being mixed in things truly close to the greater will. Going back to the Elden beast some of its attacks seem similar to the nebula ash of war which is comes from astel.
I hope they leave the new shield build as it helps us like the other items. I ran into Messmer by mistake last night in the Shadow Keep and then got to the Forest of Madness. Do you know where that place boss is? The formations of the finger are bells.
How come cotton only helps out sometimes? Is it something to do with the game's co-op stuff? I've never played it in co-op, so I'm pretty ignorant to it all.
So lore theorists online say that the "dead grandma tree" is actually a statue of Marika. Her "grandmother" is the Grandam who you meet at the Dancing Lion boss.
The Bane of Crabs must present The Fish, because just look what lack of fish knowledge has done to Metyr here. To think, for 1 fish documentary, by now Josh and Cotton could have prevented a good chunk of this situation, and we wouldn't have to deal with Fingercreepers. Tragic. Simply, tragic 🦀🌒🐌🐟
Fromsoft just got fed up of the „try finger but hole” messages in the base game that they decided to make a boss that does just that to you
That or they were inspired by the Korean "game" Dong Chim combined with the Japanese kappa which was said to steal a person's soul through the victim's anus.
OMG 🤣

Can you really blame her.. commanded her son to purge the ruling race..
Everyone apologizing to mogh but not her.. she made her choices 😅

RESENTMENT intensifies 😅

If you remember, the minor Erdtree incantation is the same one that Melina does in the Morgott fight.
I knew I seen it before!
Yes! That was the first thing that popped into my mind when I first got it.
Unless they changed it with the recent patch, don’t we spawn a midget version of what Melina spawns?
26:22 He isn’t talking to you. He’s talking to Yuri, the dead child he wanted to bring back.
That could have been such a wholesome intro but no, Josh just had to ruin it by having flowers growing out of him
28:03 And so Josh's longsword adoration continues to grow
when all the most badass weapons are longswords with badass effects, well josh is gonna start liking longswords now
Loving the series as ever, can't believe you managed to avoid the stupid worm combo of stunning and then head eating teleport in the second finger ruins. Was doing my head in. Keep up the good work

A dark tale of vengeance against one's former oppressors.
Thank god that Cotton likes to read descriptions.

Oh, their excitement about the Minor Erdtree incantation is so funny.
I hope they cast it at least once...
Josh channeling a little bit of Virgil with that Night Katana.
I am reminded of the Finger Wizard from the Nigel and Marmalade shorts
This is the peak.
This is how far we can commute with a god. A daughter of a god.
Reminds me of ebrites...
The finger ruins past that statue... the amount of times I've been slurped by those things and pinned off of Torrent is startling.
Finding out that falling star beasts mature into astals blew my tiny little mind

24:06 That’s not where that site of grace is meant to be. Her arena is meant to be right under the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.
The finger fight was so cool and so so weird.
2:03 “It was at this moment he knew…. he fucked up”

22:33 That orb isn’t the eye of occultation. It’s a microcosm that the incantation is based on.
we finally got a head on a stick for cotton!! :D
Pro and Noob episodes without Fish or Not Fish Documentary: 121
We shall continue to await its arrival. 🐟
Oh f@#k, right. My brain is shot and somehow I forgot to put that down. Thanks Hydra🦀🌒🐌🐟
If you do respec, you should aim to be able to use the tree as well, might be good when both of you are fighting a boss.
9:04 as far as I can tell the land of shadow used to be part of the lands between, as one of the towers you can climb says that it used to be the centre of the lands between, so I assume it was sat where the cloud is on the lands between map.
Still wanna see Josh and Cotton do a role reversal playthru where Josh is big Strength build and Cotton is the Sorcerer Supreme 😂
0:45 The butter is the nipple, obviously
This guy made the dlc so much easier for me to beat
So the fallingstar beast's head is an antlion larva's head.
Can confirm the mother of fingers was a pain as a melee guy
Just use Mimic Tear like I did. Let me beat her on my first try (Rivers of Blood for offense and greatshield for defense).
@MonsterHunterxRWBY I did use mimic tear but switching to rivers is what got the job done. She wasn't even in the top 5 of hardest bosses for me but she was still tough.
"Why do you get cool stuff like that?"
tbf You would have just got a really cool incant if not for your recent bear-ness.
"I bet that boss is awful for melee characters!"
Y-yeah... yeah, it was. Especially as I insisted on using Milady as my main weapon at that point.
im now imagining the beginning of the next video having cottons and josh's elden ring characters superimposed over the generations ultimate gathering hub. for reasons i wont elaborate to because that may be spoilers for some who havent finished the episode but god that would be funny
I got proper bloodborne vibes when i fought metyr. Man i fucking love bloodborne 😂
"Do you like pancakes with nipples, like me?" - Cotton, 2024
21:22 Ymir and Metyr are on the same side
121 Proobs in and there is still no Fish or not Fish documentary 🐟
The falling star beasts and astel creatures are based on Antlions, the falling star beasts being the young that burrow and ambush fr9m below
I didnt talk to the fing guy inbetween. I suppose im fed now? 😂
I’m starting to see a pattern of both gold and sorcery being mixed in things truly close to the greater will. Going back to the Elden beast some of its attacks seem similar to the nebula ash of war which is comes from astel.
when a boss summons the power of a Pulsar 22:13
The trees aren't people, but the pots are.
I can't wait for seamless co op gameplays messmer and final dlc boss vs Elden ring dlc
Here I was fighting the Mother for almost 3 hours
As a melee build, yes that fight was hell -_-
There was something about this episode but I just can't put my Finger on it. 😁
I hope they leave the new shield build as it helps us like the other items. I ran into Messmer by mistake last night in the Shadow Keep and then got to the Forest of Madness. Do you know where that place boss is?
The formations of the finger are bells.
hey you guys should try and alter the Finger Robe... lil bit of a surprise.
Bruh colossal finger 😂😂😂
ah yes, another head on another stick
So you're telling me that Metyrs colossal weapon is just her head on a stick?
I had so much difficulty with Metyr, bruh
can confirm...hell for melee >
6:35 Zeldan Ring🙂↕️
5:03 hahahahaha
so i did both ruins first and he gave all the rewards at once
I wonder what episode they'll come across the madness forest
They started the journey, so maybe next or 2nd next
How come cotton only helps out sometimes? Is it something to do with the game's co-op stuff? I've never played it in co-op, so I'm pretty ignorant to it all.
Judging by the lore, she's the Elden beast of the scadutree
I did not even try her own magic on her, thanks for the data!
edit: Nevermind, the nails do the job!
What’s with this game and fingers? I mean really!😂
30:45 60 faith, 60 int, and 20 vigor
So lore theorists online say that the "dead grandma tree" is actually a statue of Marika. Her "grandmother" is the Grandam who you meet at the Dancing Lion boss.
Don't let this distract you from the fact we're 121 Proobs in WITHOUT A FISH OR NOT FISH DOCUMENTARY.
The Bane of Crabs must present The Fish, because just look what lack of fish knowledge has done to Metyr here.
To think, for 1 fish documentary, by now Josh and Cotton could have prevented a good chunk of this situation, and we wouldn't have to deal with Fingercreepers. Tragic. Simply, tragic
🦀🌒🐌🐟
Heard about this thing just a few hours ago. It completely belongs in Bloodborne, which from me is a compliment.
*Spoilers*
The Mother of Fingers is also the Elden Beasts sister
It is awful for melee. Her attacks carry her hitbox over you like the hippo and its a pain to avoid her.
As someone who first fought finger-mom with a melee build, can confirm this boss is hell...
It is indeed very awful for melee users 😂
Should we be worried for Cotton? All this talk about being sic...
Fun fact Melina sometimes uses minor erdtree if you summoned her to help fight Morgott in Leyndell
Nah, this fight was pretty easy, even as melee. She is super squishy and her attacks are pretty slow.
cotton your teeth ARE bone
